  1. Foe what it's worth I find I have a high rate of bogging/immobilizations moving carefully and SLOW. The problem caused by being partly on and off the road is interesting. Will try and avoid that in future. But, as Rankorian said, is this irritating/annoying detail really needed in CM2? Is this CM: TANK DRIVER SCHOOL?
  2. Also check WHEN the Stugs got their kills. It could be early war when the Soviets had very little to oppose em.
  3. Well, then that's a significant problem with campaigns... IIRC CM1 had a feature by which one could adjust the % repaired vehicles that could be recovered/repaired for the next battle in a campaign. Am surprised that CM2 doesn't have that rather important feature.
  4. From those rather good results you'd think the Soviets would get more than a Tactical Victory.
  5. When you say replaced, do you mean the editor allows for a certain % of repaired vehicles returning, or do you mean that reinforcements are scheduled? If a % can be repaired so they return then setting that at an appropriate level would help mitigate the frustration of losing so many tanks permanently to immobilization in each scenario of a campaign.
  6. Yes, I would as well. Need to show some thanks for his amazing efforts.
  7. Good article by Michael Peck who writes a lot about serious sims and games and their potential uses by DoD. http://www.tsjonline.com/story.php?F=8413836
  8. Notice how Clint's Sherman can crash through multiple walls etc with NO IMMOBILIZATION. 'Nuff said...
  9. Thank you again, Aris/Fuser... (What is your name??)
  10. We go around this old "realism" argument. If you want realism, either go play a multi-zillion dollar DoD sim, or go to a real war - I can guarantee you that neither will be fun. Generally, if one wants an entertaining time one buys an entertainment product that eliminates the irritating, boring, annoying aspects of RL, and focuses on the "fun" bits. Otherwise, you're plainly masochistic lol.
  11. "Well it's a trade off...I'll take that frustration over the hundred times in CMX1 where I thought I was safe behind a building until some tank shot straight through it and blew me up." The problem is that in ALL the CM series games a large part of the time you are playing vs the GAME SYSTEM and you have to know how the engine works etc. Nothing to do with reality, it simply comes with experience of what the system will do in certain circumstances, and that's why imo CM2 is not more realistic than CM1. Just more detailed. But, detail and complexity are not the same as realistic. And the frustrations of CM2 make the game a lot more irritating and longer to play. I still enjoy it, but not as much as CM1 as a fun entertainment interlude.
  12. I love the soldiers strolling through the town. If only we could have civilians etc like in THE SIMS.
  13. I seem to have identified my excessive immobilization problems... Will the terrorists who keep hacking into my computers and immobilizing my tanks PLEASE STOP! You have already defeated us in Iraq, Afghanistan, bankrupted the US and brought the western world to the brink of monetary meltdown... Why can't I just play my little game in peace? Thank you for your consideration.
  14. "Has anyone ever surpassed Napoleon's armies?" Most tinpot dictators seem to put a lot of effort in this area: Gadhaffi etc.
  15. The thing that I don't understand about RT fans is that they can't possibly have time to enjoy the graphics. BFC may just as well do a 2D CLOSE COMBAT top down sort of game for them, or COMPANY OF HEROES etc. I have always thought that the best thing about all the CM games from the original 12 years ago was the ability to enjoy the scenes from many different angles like watching a movie replay from different camera positions.
  16. "do the routing to the place you want to go. click on the last waypoint so its highlighted, then try a target command from there. The Target line will show the LOS from the highlighted waypoint. So in other words you can check a units LOS to a certain area on every place you have set a waypoint." This is true in theory, but MANY times one can check LOS this way but when the unit gets there you only then discover there is still a LOS problem. imo the problem is that the CM system is getting too complicated and "tricky" for its own good. You'll get LOS to a target by someone like the "5th gun-layer" which does one absolutely no good if the gun can fire at the target etc. Trying to be a poor man's tactical simulation software rather than trying to be a successor to the terrific entertainment game that CM1 still is.
  17. Well, BFC benefits financially from getting volunteer workers to make the graphics what they should be. However, what do you suggest?
  18. Uuungh... So I started the (fun so far) Road to Montebourg campaign, and the 2nd scenario has 4 Shermans and damp ground. So, am baby-ing them along on SLOW everywhere, and of course one has already bogged and immobilized in the first 20 minutes. I want my play time to be fun and this high % of immobilizing when one is doing everything possible other than not moving the tanks at all (to keep em un-immobilized), is plain frustrating. I even don't care if this is a realistic % of immobilizations. CM2 is suppposed to be an entertainment game, not an exercise in frustration in which one loses units for reasons which have nothing to do with skill or tactics etc. And this is just one reason I still play CM1.
  19. IIRC all the SS uniforms, maybe Wehrmacht as well, were designed by Hugo Boss.
  20. I know lots of people have worked v hard on the CM2 system, but Aris' work is probably the most visible. I would hope BFC can encourage his volunteer work in some way since they get the benefit when we spread the word of mouth re how good CMBN looks.
  21. Re trees damaged, am glad to hear that. But, I see HE rounds being detonated by trees at exactly the same spot for a whole WEGO round until I give up shooting to save wasting the ammo. So, if the trees are being damaged why does the 2nd HE onwards not get thru ok?
  22. Are you sure anything damages trees? The CM graphics show all sorts of things, but it's mainly eye candy with no real effect on the game.
