  1. Preferring to play German sides certainly does not make one a Nazi. The vast majority of older generation (cardboard) wargamers had to be bribed to play any other (Allied) side. Playing Germans was just so much more fun even in beer & pretzel games like Axis and Allies. It was about moving fast and nimbly, taking big chances with object of global domination. Now, what normal person wouldn't want that?? I suspect the overwhelming desire to play Germany was also due to the wide array of sexy toys they developed and also that they emphasized the individual (each unit often was specialized) more than (for example) the "mass" of lesser-trained East Front slavic hords with their cookie-cutter units. I still recall the gasps of awe that would issue around a gaming table when in the midst of some Soviet threat or breakthrough the SS Division Liebstandarte would appear... like the cavalry riding to the rescue with their ultra high combat factors that usually meant that all opposition in that area was to be crushed (ruthlessly and without mercy). (Yeah, you had to be there...) The advent of computer games and the need for a much wider audience to fund the expensive computer games is what brought in the "Ra RA America is the Greatest" players who insisted on playing the US and always winning with overwhelming firepower etc. But, that is a relatively recent (since late nineties perhaps) phenomenon.
  2. This is similarly apropo: http://www.heritage.org/research/reports/2007/07/if-iran-provokes-an-energy-crisis-modeling-the-problem-in-a-war-game?utm_source=Newsletter&utm_medium=Email&utm_campaign=Morning%2BBell
  3. Teletransportation thru obstacles is a wonderful FEATURE! Have you never heard of the Philadelphia experiment? Shame on you for using the "b..." word. http://www.history.navy.mil/faqs/faq21-1.htm
  4. Try Diamond Level. That's getting the wife to input turns for me and report back what happened while I sit in another room with my feet in a bucket of cold water really reduces the problem of too much info... and also provides much more realism. You'll need to buy her a lot of diamonds...
  5. Thanks Wreck... When you said "fields" I took that as "data fields" and was expecting some colored "powerpoint" type statistical pie chart presentation lol.
  6. Easy to try it. My bet is yes, since one can back up a truck to bocage and have the passengers dismount on the FAR SIDE of the bocage when there is no gap.
  7. "shown green w/ white X" sorry I only see b/w numbers and not sure what they mean.
  8. IIRC the varints are added randomly so you cannot guarantee that you will get the desired turrt with the desired hull. Even with multiple variants there is a small probability that you could still get all the tanks looking the same.
  9. Aris, you promised us you'd take a rest once you finished all the vehicles and guns in CMBN! Now go to your room and sleep!
  10. Time is the issue... If they can simply make the straits appear more dangerous, that will increase insurance on the ships, delay traffic as minesweepers have to go everywhere first, which in turn increase the price of oil, and that alone will threaten the very fragile western economies while making it hard for the west to mount any major attacks. The west cannot afford the time nor the money for a major attack, and it can't afford oil prices to spike. The Iranians are timing this all quite well.
  11. Yeah... Having hookers would have been glorious. But, there you go... The moral imbalace of game developers...
  12. I used to use a CM1 game Editor to see weapon composition of a unit. Otherwise think you can Google. Am confident that I've see that sort of data out there in mil history sites.
  13. Lovely work on the blackened muzzle and the outline of the model's details highlighting them. The damage and wear is wonderful. But, somehow the camo still looks too clean. I'd expect more oil smears, and maybe more localized wear from stuff/crew moving around the same surfaces for weeks/months. The camo itself could be worn away at heavily used locations. And how old is the tank CO in your pic? 14?
  14. Re installing a new mod to test it: I create another folder called ZZZ inside my regular Z folder and put the new stuff in there. That way one can be sure the new mod is what loads, and it's also then easy to locate and delete the correct mod if you don't like it.

  16. Thank you. I love these types of scenarios as opposed to the inf assaults we so often see.
  17. Additionally, I think CM1 models aircraft getting "distracted" by AAA fire, so you don't have to hit/kill it to degrade its attack.
  18. Motorbikes and horse-drawn carts (which were by far the most common mode of transport)... But, am not holding my breath, since my xnt suggestion re including hookers in CMBN was not pounced on...
  19. Yeah, that initial low volume had me cranking the volume dial and still not being sure it was even running ok. I appreciate the effort, but I suggest that it's better to have a soundtrack that starts and stays at a fairly decent volume. Otherwise one could easily have selected a scenario and loaded it before the music got loud enuff to hear. And some Italian opera...?
  20. Lovely. Thank you. You've given us so much this year. I hope you have a wonderful New Year!
  21. sdp: Thanks for the mod. I tried your music but found it rather low volume compared to the original and other mod music tracks. It's also the same track for all three in-game music wav files(?) Also, what is it? I liked it but it sounded very somber like it could be for East Front or anyplace really. I was expecting some jaunty Italian marching songs.
  22. My cats seemed to figure how to get attention. They would sit patiently for ages watching the game progress and those interesting stacks build up, until... Then computer gaming took over. Eventually, my surviving elederly cat learned how to turn off my system using the surge protector on-off switch (WTF!!) Just sitting close to it now is enuff to get my full attention and some hugging/brushing etc. It's gotten down to now all she has to do is sit in front of the monitor and stare at me.
  23. Was there damage to the tank? Did it get worse the more mines were detonated?
