  1. Happy Birthday! You must be looking forward to retirement... By then most of the CM2 modules should be available.
  2. Yeah it does look perfect, like it was put up last week... That's my only (mild) criticism. But unfortunately it may be the way CM2 graphics are set up.
  3. I downloaded gapa, but am a bit unclear on where to put it, and how to use. Scared to mess up something else in my pristine system. Any reassurance, hints etc?

Wish the wooden bridge could look a bit more worn, broken down, bits missing, bents etc like old wood bridges get - (actually don't they get eventually grey/greenish-ish with moss etc after exposure to weather). But, I understand that the way the thing was set-up by BF may make that not possible.
  5. Certainly as a hypothetical game this could be fun. Also a Russian invasion from the North; a resurgent Iraq from the west; even Mujhadeen uncon forces from Afghanistan.

  7. I understand the logistics re starting E. Front in '44, but man... what a shame. It would be so much more satisfying to battle one's way in from June '41.
  8. This is a major pain. Why would we care, and why does the game tell us that the 3rd loader or some non-important guy can see a target when what one really needs to know is whether the big gun can see and shoot the target? A great example of useless info overload.
  9. I agree, there should be more replacements (in any campaign) since one can lose a lot and it's a bitch to have to refight a scenario just to have enuff units to keep going - like your experience with recon, and mine with having 5 tanks immobilized most without getting into any battle.

  11. IIRC there was an Avalon Hill cardboard game on Normandy that used Area Movement that would also probably work nicely with CM.
  12. The pause button you want is not the GAME PAUSE button, but the letter "P".
  13. All looks beautiful. The only thing that looked wrong with your bridge photo on the previous page is that the RR underneath it is screwy.
  14. FWIW, I have a ZZZ folder inside my Z folder and I put all my "test" mods in there as I think that guarantees they'll be loaded last. However, as I said earlier if there are (say) "mod versions 4, and 5" in the earlier load, they will NOT be overwritten unless the mod in the ZZZ folder also has "mod version 4 and 5". I suspect that's the problem you're experiencing. Safest thing is to remove the mod you don't want and if you're like me, put it into another folder someplace OTHER than the Z folder called UNUSED MODS. And yes, I still play a lot of CMBB and CMAK thanks to WeBoB where most members are still CM1 fans. And when well modded I still hold that CM1 can look as good/realistic sometimes better than CM2 when you get to levels 3-4 and higher.

  16. I still use a lot of your mods Gurra - thanks for making CM1 look so good. Probably the system looks for schurzen versions. So, if there are more versions by one modder that are numbered correctly, it's possible that the extra ones are getting mixed in since the system chooses these things randomly.
  17. However, we do know and are told that we are about to go into imminent battle. CM games all represent that high intensity action, not the weeks of boredom. So, I consider that my question re how much ammo would a formation or unit take knowing they were about to attack has validity.

  19. I can't seem to get that drab look for the German camo no matter how I fiddle with my nVidia controls. what parameters are you using? Or is this photoshopped?

Sublime: I also kept all armor to SLOW and what I thought were very careful moves, but I still bogged/immobilized an average of approx 20% each battle, so that by the 4th or 5th battle I was down to 4 out of 10 and only one had been KO'd by fire. The issue that was discussed elsewhere seems to be the area between the road and offroad where most boggings seem to occur. Hopefully BF will address that Inshallah. Re casualties, so does anyone know if the % refers only to the combat troops or does it take into account the much larger parent formation, most of whom are unlikely to be casualties? Am trying to figure out what is a "reasonable" histical level of casualties our guys in these CMBN battles could take before an attack is called off or it would grind to a halt. My gut is that we are allowed to take too many friendly casualties (re low points penalties).

  22. Interesting re the cores, but to get back to earlier questions, what video card settings (nVidia??) did you use to get that look?
  23. The problem is also that straight line at the junction of the roads where you have half-stones abutting full-size ones. If there is a way to disguise that straight line... Throw in more half stones randomly elsewhere (simulating cracked stones maybe)?
