1. Hi Dogface, I used to have this card, until recently. I reluctantly shelled out for a Gforce2 MX-400. It is a VERY good card. Only when you have a game that has a gazillion moving pixels will you see a problem. Most mainstream 3D games run perfectly smooth for my P-III 733. At the price you mentioned, you can't go wrong. I think the card could last another 2 years, easily.
 2.
quote:
Originally posted by Cauldron: I am no sure who did it, but the Panther mod that has the soft browns ( might be the late model) is just SUPERB !!!

You might be referring to Fernando Julio Carrera Buil's Mono colour-schemed Panther. I use his mods wherever I can.
 3. Assault boats Good luck trying a QB and pick only Assault boats.
 4. first of all, I want to admit my source of information is from "Crusade in Europe" (many many moons ago, from Microprose for the Commodore 64). From that game, I was led to believe that even the Infantry division (US especially, but Allies in general), there were a LARGE contingent of Tanks, Jeeps, and other vehicles. So, why is there no points given to allied for Vehicles and Tanks in an Infantry formation? I mean even 100 pts each for Vehicles and Tanks in a 750 pts would suffice. I'm sure the grogs on this board will roast me for this. but I have thick skin, I can handle the flame

[ 08-29-2001: Message edited by: Vanir Ausf B ]

doesn't his silence since his original post speaks louder than any other hooplas he has caused? About the faust being better than Rifle grenades. I have not played the allied much, but I can tell you the Faust is indeed a very good tank killer. Especially if the tank is stupid enough to close in too close. Many allied tanks have fallen victim to my Faust equipped FJ.
 6. I did this last night. My Elite AA guns (20mm, Quad 20mm, 37mm) w/1 75mm Inf Gun destroyed a mechanized force in Light woods. Piece of cake. After they walked into range, I opened up with everything. in the first 6 seconds, 1/3 of their forces was cut down. At the end of 1 minute, 95% of their forces was gone, burned or KO'ed. Infantry and Crew died horribly after that. There was this one funny scene. My 2 20mm's got this 1 squad running back and forth, like a shooting gallery, until it was eliminated. too bad I couldn't save the movie.
 7.
quote:
Originally posted by Colonel_Deadmarsh: [QB]I'd love to hear what people's opinions are and maybe we can even get into some arguments over a couple. I'm gonna start this off: Most Overrated: Allied Flamethrower Only 6 shots? Why only 6 when the Germans get 9 for the same price? While we're on the subject, I think ALL Flamethrower teams are overrated. For double the price, as the Germans I can buy the Flame Halftrack which has about 5 times as much ammo. These Flamethrower units should in my opinion cost about 25 pts and each team should have 9 pulls on the trigger. BTS should have fixed this in a patch. As it is now, not many people use them which takes away an important level of strategy to the game. QB]

You can't hide a halftrack in the middle of Wooded area to ambush unsuspecting grunts, then have the HMG cut down the retreating grunts. You also can't set up an ambush against tanks in half-tracks. they'll get KO'ed before they even get a shot off. I'd rather have 2 flamethrower teams than 1 HT. most underrated is the Wirblewind. Incredible amount of ammo. good infantry and AT/INF gun killer. Just my 2 cents.
 8. I had german troops running underneath my Churchill to hide from my main gun. Damn those gamey germs.

 10.
quote:
Originally posted by F_Paulus: I was talking to someone else about this scenario, and they said they thought that that was completely bogus. My question to the forum is: was this bogus? I'm sure that BTS used historical references when they coded this "feature" into night combat (i.e.-night time battle confusion, fatigue, friendly fire, etc.). Does anyone know of any historical references for this subject? I'd also like to know your opinion as to whether this sounds realistic or not. I don't doubt that BTS has good reasons for coding it this way, I just have no personal knowledge to use to defend it.

Getting back on topic. If you think it's bad for grunts at night, try playing night mission with heavy fog. Tanks engage each other at about 50m (this is when you keep your KTs at home, and bring along a ton of Hetzers). I think CM does a good job at similating night combat for WWII era.
 11. ooo. very nice. Too bad I don't use JagdPanthers much . I might have to start using them now.
 12. This is your 2nd post to whine about something you don't have the rights to whine about yet. My credit card was charged 10 days before I got the CD in my trembling hands. IT'S ONLY BEEN 3 DAYS!!! take a pill and chill. [ 08-17-2001: Message edited by: YECoyote ]
 13. In A Walk in Paris, there were US units present. I played this battle as Gerry, and was able to raced 2 panthers up to the front in a hurry. I positioned the 2 panthers on either side of the intersection, much like Monty's first picture. The whole French column was wiped out in 10 minutes. The US column was wiped out by 1 panther shooting at 1500 metres. [ 08-16-2001: Message edited by: YECoyote ]
 14. If you assign Area fire, like you said, to a treeline, then order your men into said area. The fire will stop when the friendly troops get near it. This is unlike ordering your guys to fire directly at an opposition force, your friendlies will take hits as well. Hope this helps. P.S. Don't forget, you can always test your theory in QB.
 15. I'm in a game where my opponent is levelling the buildings. I say all the power to him. The more HE shells he uses against buildings, the fewer he has to use on my Infantry.
 16. Actually, I'm more interested in what is going on in the CM2 Beta Test forum. Please let us in
 17. Can someone please tell me which thread this flame-war was? I like to know what all the hooplass is all about. It's really too bad Tiger took this step, tho. I'm also glad he has provided us with such great artwork. His mods were the first I started collecting, and I believe I have collected all of his work. Happy trails, Tiger...

Nice, huh? ) However, here's a list of unveiled details: (You ****ers owe me for typing all this... )

What?!? NO screenshots? 19.
quote:
Originally posted by MrSpkr: I think you can buy an issue here.

isn't PC-Gamer published by Ziff-Davis? Well, I astutely opposed to give my hard-earned money to Mr. Gates so he can build his modern castle.
 20. give us a link, a link damnit, a link.
 21.
quote:
Originally posted by Scipio: I hope to see sandbags and trenches.

trenches will be in for sure. not sure about the Sandbags tho
 22. Actually, I hate those damn Stuarts and their fast firing guns too. They have the tendency to Immobolize, gun hit, or Shot trap my poor panthers...usually at a cost of 2 or 3 stuarts. Still, damn annoying pests. As a result, my Panthers are always escorted by a Puma.
