  1. Were you trying to show him while you two were physically in the same room? Just wondering. If you have CMBO, the opening movie might serve your purposes somewhat. You could point out guns geing knocked out and a squad's morale breaking. There have been a couple of videos made, usually turned into black and white to look like actual WWII footage, but I don't know where to get them or even if they are still online. Hope that helps a little. J Kruger
  2. I have not been working on anything b/c of RL concerns. Hopefully soon, but we shall have to see. Thank you for asking though! J Kruger [ October 03, 2003, 07:09 PM: Message edited by: Herr Kruger ]
  3. I just wanted to say I have visited your site on occasion and enjoyed it! J Kruger
  4. Yep, winter mods will only show up with scenarios/battles that have snow on the ground. There is no need to "switch back" b/c there is no switching! As someone mentioned already, CMBB did not come with winter mods. CMBO was the same, I think. J Kruger
  5. Those categories would seem to be more appropriate. One minor concern... the designation of (early). With the variations of the units this might be a point of confusion. It is your intent that Marder II (early) refers to the Marder II that carries the panzer grey color and is available in the 1941 - 1942 period of the war, correct? The mod I made affects the Marder II and the Marder II (early), but only the panzer grey ones, not the later war ones. What I mean is, there are two different Marder IIs available in the early part of the war, both of them using the same BMPs, the panzer grey ones. It is not a big deal with the Marder II, but perhaps with other units it could be confusing if there is a mod that affects only a unit that in the game is designated (late) but is available in panzer grey era/color, such as the StuG IIIF (late). If I perceive your intent of the meaning of (early) vs. (late) any mod that affected only the StuG IIIF (late) in the panzer grey color could be organized incorrectly. Just my thoughts. 6. Actually the reason they are low res are because people requested the skies show sunset and sunrise and not be mirrored around the map. This requires 3 seperate textures to mirror with each other, but in turn they have to be lower res in order to run reasonably on everybodies systems. This is why no one ever modded the CMBB skies though...they are damn hard to get right. It would be oh so easy for us to make everything super huge resolution and Im sure the result would look great, but if we did make everything equivalant to the mods out there there the game would be lucky to run on 128mb+ cards. Skies are, out of all the textures, the most system intensive to make larger due to their size already as video cards are much better at manipulating smaller textures than they are very large ones. This is why we tend to be more conseritive with our textures sizes....if people want to make out their VRAM themselves that is their choice That being said if you actually take a look at the screen shots though you will notice that they all have been updated and the clear and cloudy skies being totally new, not recycled as you suggested. 7. Okay, it is my belief that the Marder II should have a separate box in the Units Modified part of the new CMMODS format. This screenshot illustrates my point. The Marder II has BMPs separate from both the Marder III/Wespe and the TACAMs. I've only modded the Marder II so I'm not going to comment with certainty on whether the TACAMs share BMPS only with each other or perhaps with other vehicles as well. Perhaps a more experienced modder can comment. As far as I can tell, the Marder II has its own bitmaps.
  8. I can work up some screenshots and post them here or e-mail them to you. The TACAM SP guns are entirely different vehicles from the Marder II. Perhaps in an earlier version of CMBB they shared all the same BMPs, but I don't think they share any now. The Marder III and Wespe share BMPs but I am pretty sure the Marder II shares no BMPs with the Marder III or Wespe. Also, can multiple countries be selected for mods? B/c my Marder II mod, which alters only the panzer grey version, applies to the German Marder II and also the Hungarian Marder II. Regards, J Kruger
  9. I have updated my lone mod. I think I may have identified a problem though. In the Units boxes to be checked off, I'm pretty sure the Marder II needs it own box, not one box grouped with one Romanian SP gun and the other box grouped with antoher Romanian SP gun and the Marder III. The Romanian SP guns have their own bmps unrelated to the Marder IIs and I don't think the Marder III and II share BMPs. Perhaps I am wrong. I am not a very experienced modder so forgive me if I am in error. Regards, J Kruger
  10. Are you implying earlier Tigers were heavier than later wwar Tigers?! Besides, it's grEy... hehe
  11. I poked around a bit in the CMBB bmp folder and I think the BMPs in question are 2015 - 2018. I'm sure with a little experimenting the correct renaming can be discovered. Until I read this post, I had not noticed this. But I've only played about 5 games of CMBB.
  12. OK, I don't want to pour fuel on the fire in this discussion - and frankly I don't really care about this particular discussion - but that statement is blatanty false. I would direct your attention to a previous topic of mine, dated 29Sep02 entitled, 'CMBB Small Error', from the Combat Mission: Tech Support forum. In that topic, I pointed out that the Play/Pause button is reversed in CMBB. Here's what I wrote, quote: The Play and Pause buttons are reversed. (I have the American version.) To which you (Moon) answered, quote: Hmm, srange, they work as intended on my end. They show the current state, ie. when the action phase is playing, it shows play, when the game is paused it shows pause. Or do you mean something else? How about a screenshot? This was the only official response from BTS on this matter in that topic. The rest of the responses were just the typical banterings of the cheerleaders, although I'm happy to say that there were also several people who agreed with me. I again brought up this issue in a topic dated 06Nov02 entitled, 'Add This To The Patch...', in the Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin forum. This time, there was no official response from BTS at all, just the usual bellowing from your Amen Corner, as well as a few sarcastically-worded suggestions of how I should fix the problem myself. Now, just to jog your memory, here's the problem, once again. Presumably you have a VCR at home, or at least a tape player, DVD player or similar media-playing device, so let me ask you this: When you first turn on one of these devices to play the media, which button do you push? I would guess, judging from my own experiences using these types of devices, that you would push the *PLAY* button. Thereafter, if you wanted to pause the media, you would naturally push the *PAUSE* button, right? (Let me know if I'm losing you here.) Why is it then, that after I load a CMBB movie file, the button I have to push in order to play it says *PAUSE*? Consequently, once the CMBB movie is playing and I want to pause it, I have to push a button that says *PLAY*. Why on God's earth would I want to push a *PAUSE* button to play the movie and a *PLAY* button to pause it? Do you see anything wrong with this picture in CMBB? In case you, or anyone else at BTS has trouble understanding this, I would simply direct you to your other game, CM Beyond Overlord, because in this game the buttons are correct, *PLAY* to play the movie and *PAUSE* to pause it. I understand, of course, that this issue is probably not as critical as many other issues in the game, but consider this: If a new player who has just purchased CMBB sees this, and he undoubtedly will, he might wonder what else is wrong with this game, considering BTS can't even get the Play/Pause buttons straight. As I have shown, I raised this issue twice before issuance of the presumabbly final patch (1.03) for CMBB (the first time was even before issuance of the first patch, I think), yet it was not fixed after three patches (why not?). So, in CMBO BTS got it right, in CMBB they got it wrong, and I'm eagerly awaiting CM Afrika Korps for them to make up my mind. This issue belies the opinion of yours that "anytime somebody has to say something meaningful (more meaningful than "this suxx" that is), we listen." Please consider my criticism to be constructive, rather than destructive, so that you might further improve your product. </font>
  13. I'd just like to say that having the option of low-res mods is one I like to have. Especially for terrain and trees.
  14. Starting point files like this are a really good idea! I'd just like to mention that!
  15. I can't promise that I will do any other mods. I'd like to, but other things have a habit of getting in the way. If there is one, it won't be for awhile though.
  16. Thank you for the nice comments A. Fox's mod that I worked from already had dirt on the wheels, but I mucked them up more!
  17. Hello. I believe my mod is ready for release. Hope you like it! Get it at www.cmmods.com [ August 09, 2003, 01:40 PM: Message edited by: Herr Kruger ]
