  1. Ahh, understand now..appreciate the more detailed feedback....wow that sux...I was really, really looking forward to CMSF without bootcamp and CMBN... SO, guess I will hold off so I don't experience CM software block and stare longly at a pile of DVDs that won't play... Argh....back to the XP shuffle.
  2. So, other than hack macs and MacBook pro users, has anyone else had issues with 10.9.2? I have a brand new iMac with the nvdia card and 1 gig VRAM and am ready to hit the buy button.
  3. hmm thanks, since CMBN runs, I am going to assume CMSF runs...I guess my question was really CMRT...although it appears most of the issues were for MACBOOK PRO users with a dual video card thingy...I did get the new iMac with the NVIDA card and 1 GB of glorious VRAM...so, would LIKE to have a CMRT demo for MAC just to test things...but may hold off on buying CMRT.
  4. At last...after many long years, I have a new iMac that can play CM. But because of the many threads on OS 10.9.2 I downloaded the CMBN demo and it runs FABULOUSLY!! I mean it looks great...1 GB of video memory and a dedicated video card will do that no doubt. SO, can I assume that if CMBN runs fine then CMSF and CMRT will too? There are no Mac demos for those games. I am ready to buy all three ASAP and start playing again..... OH, and BTW does CMSF for MAC include many of the user developed scenarios or will I have to copy my old scenarios I downloaded for my old PC version? Thanks in advance and it's GREAT to be bahhhckkkk
  5. Excellent article. CMSF..easy to play...hard to master..yup.
  6. So, old codger question..I don't recall if someone else has asked this...is there some way to make the orders text way way way bigger...argh, I can barely squint my 48 year old eyes to read the damn things even with my way cool bifocals. Help is greatly appreciated.
  7. Is there a plan for a Mac demo? I have an old MacBook Pro with the x1600 graphics card (ancient I know) and would like to test it. I can run CMSF under boot camp no sweat, but don't want to assume, ya know? Or does one of the BF gurus know if there are issues with older Macs? Thx much.
  8. Thanks dpabrams..so the obvious duh question would be if I don't have a Z folder (no mods installed)...then I would just create one and place these in it?
  9. Ok, silly question...I replace ALL my brz files? Even the ones labeled NATO, British, and Marines? That seems impossibly easy-/:)
  10. Any update on this?. How does that go...bump....
  11. I have never made a CMSF scenario. I wanted to make some but, being lazy, want to reuse some QB maps and just play with the units and parameters. Can I import these maps and reuse them? I know you could do that with the CM x1 series. Thanks.
  12. I pre-ordered it..and am glad I did. It is pretty good so far. It doesn't appear that McManus has broken any new ground, but I think he has mined much of the recent research to tell a more balanced story of the American airborne battles, which while not as dramatic as the stand of the 1st British Airborne, were still some of the hardest fighting of the war. The thing that really intrigues me about the book is McManus CONTINUES the story into the weeks after Market Garden to tell the story of the fighting along the Reichwald before the Ardennes Campaign begins...
  13. So, just to be clear CMSF 1 will come out for OS X and all of these new modules will be simultaneous for MAC and PC? I am looking forward to a new state of the art iMac in 2013...getting rid of Bootcamp...and playing all my Combat Mission goodness on my Mac. Needless to say, Eastern Front + Battle of the Bulge + 2000s Serious NATO vs Russia = AWESOME. Oh, and the iPad thing is pretty cool too.
  14. If you can find it, this book would be an excellent companion to Rick Atkinson's--which I really liked. Italy's Sorrow: A Year of War, 1944-1945 http://www.amazon.com/Italys-Sorrow-Year-War-1944-1945/dp/B0043RTAHA/ref=la_B001HPCROY_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1340924048&sr=1-5
  15. I just downloaded and played the Crossroads Scenario. As a long time amateur player of the beer and pretzel variety, I think this could be just the game to bring a new crop of players to the CM world. It is also remarkable how far this game has come from its humble beginnings 12 (gulp) years ago. Good: * The camera and unit controls are pretty easy to master, although I had a dickens of a time trying to respot my artillery fire. I finally had to stop the unit and then start all over. * The graphics are pretty impressive for an iPad. I would say they are nearly as good as the PC version and SO far above the original CMBO, it's tough to believe this is on an Ipad. Bad: * I got my ass totally whupped. Okay, that's not the games fault. I didn't start my artillery fire soon enough and got run over by a wave of Panzers. On the other hand, I will be replaying that scenario many times, I suspect. BEST * Battlefront is BACK FOR THE MAC. or Apple, you know what I mean. I am very, very happy that CMSF and CMBN are available for the Mac, even if I am still playing my PC versions cuz I have an old laptop with the crappy x1600 video card and I am afraid to upgrade to Lion....for now. The commitment of the gang to bring these awesome games to OS X and now iOS portends a great future for Mac gaming. I hope to upgrade to a new iMac later this year and play these games on a HUGE screen with a state-of-the art graphics card in the Mac version....no more Boot Camp for me. * The price for the iPad game was absolutely unbeatable. I will most definitely be purchasing endless scenario packs for $2.99 or less. The iTunes store is a pretty darn good business model and I wish the gang all the financial success they deserve for bringing this game to us. OH, and nice April Fools Joke...I was really convinced Moon or someone was screwing with us big-time...then I was even more shocked that they pulled this off completely covertly with NO HINT that it was coming....the Osama Raid probably didn't have this good a cover story. WELL DONE, Battlefront. Keep up the good work.
  16. Here's a wild question. I downloaded the Pacific Mod for CMBO many years ago and I still like to play it...but, many of the maps are for building your own scenarios...SO, does anyone have a list of the German units that were converted to Japanese units? I might want to play a few QB, but I don't think all the German units were converted.... A true grognard question...
  17. Well, thanks for the quick response anyway. I can play CMBN under Bootcamp with no major issues. Sooooo, we shall see what Santa brings....
  18. Hi, quick question...does this patch address the ATI X1600 video driver issue for older Macs? Thanks....
  19. As long as that darn MAC OSX X1600 video driver issue is killed dead, dead, dead, I will be happy.
  20. Thanks...I kinda assumed so...as soon as I get OS X.6 that will be my plan...just curious..
  21. Would love to hear some Mac players experiences...ESPECIALLY old guys like me that have less than state of the art systems. I have an older MacBook Pro with the X1600 ATI video card and 256MB of memory and no prospect of upgrading this year. I played the demo on Bootcamp and XP with no problems...sorry don't have 10.6 yet...that's next. But would like to know how it runs, I will be getting 10.6 later this week....
  22. So, although no one has asked, I assume that all of these future projects will be simultaneous or near simultaneous for the MAC? After all, gotta justify the new MACBOOK PRO 15"
