  1. Just a quick question...are there any CMBB scenarios on Der Kessel? All I can find are scenarios for CMBO? Am I not looking in the right spot? Also will the Stalingrad Pack be a total Mod or just scenarios? And if it uses Mods..is there a version of the Mac Combat Mission Mod manager for CMBB anywhere? Thanks much, the scenario pack looks great...
  2. Andreas, thanks very much..I take when you talk about tree densities, the graphics are dithered or something and just don't look as nice...if that's the case I guess I will be okay...I agree small to medium scearios are best..I am kinda impatient with the number crunching needed for large or huge...and it's a lot of map to navigate too...I assume you can manually turn the graphics quality down if needed...did the beta have that? Thanks
  3. Could any of you lucky pre-order gurus help us older iMac owners out with a lowdown on how the full CMBB game works on Macs with less than 16MB of Vram? I know the demo worked okay on my 8MB Vram iMac at 800x600, but how does the full game work, especially the Large and/or Huge scenarios? I can't afford a new machine for a while and before I buy CMBB, I would like a real players assessment of how it works. I have an iMac DV 400Mhz, with the Rage 128 w/8MB Vram. I understand if the graphics are dithered a little, that's not a big thing (I still play CMBO on a PB1400CS with G3 card and only 1MB of Vram and it dithers everything) but if the game doesn't load or crashes, then I guess I'll have to wait to buy it Any advice an Imac owner could give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  4. Mike, just wanted to add my kudos for the mod. Even though I will be getting CMBB, mods like this will ensure CMBO stays one of my favorite games for a long time. Truly a great team effort by everyone involved....keep up the good work (and scenario development) p.s. are there any more DFDR scenarios and if so where might they be?
  5. Hi, I have also played the demo on my Imac DV with the 400 MHz G3, 128 Mb Ram, Rage 128 and 8MB VRAM and it looks great, especially the new animation. [troops running] However, I run my computer on 800X600 all the time, since I think it makes text easier to read in my other applications. Could it be the BFC sys req were for 1024x768 (which I have not tried yet)?
  6. My apologies if this questions has already been asked, but has BTS firmed up the system requirements for CMBB? I read in one of the game magazine interviews that they were going to make it playable with 8 MB of VRAM. I have an IMacDV with the ATI Rage 128 video card, 8 MB of VRAM and 128MB of RAM, 400 MHZ G3. Will that be enough horsepower? I really enjoy CMBO and am eagerly awaiting getting CMBB in the Xmas stocking!!
  7. "Closing with the Enemy" is an excellent book...and it is true the GIs had to invent a lot of new tactics for the hedgerow fighting. I recommended the FMs for general guidance. The general principles they explain are valid for WWII or modern combat
  8. I have read several of the tactics helps at combat-missions.net. I found these on the web the other day. They are US Army Field manuals that show how the pros do it. I found them pretty useful. It's a great website to prowl around on and most of the stuff is downloadable. Not that the occasional MG42 or Panzershreck doesn't still ruin my day! http://www.adtdl.army.mil/cgi-bin/atdl.dll/fm/100-5/100-5toc.htm http://www.adtdl.army.mil/cgi-bin/atdl.dll/fm/17-15/cont.htm http://www.adtdl.army.mil/cgi-bin/atdl.dll/fm/7-7/toc.htm http://www.adtdl.army.mil/cgi-bin/atdl.dll/fm/7-10/toc.htm
  9. It's true that CMBO comes on a dual platform CD (which I agree is a good thing), however, the reason I asked my question is that when you order your CD on the website it asks you to specify a platform when you order, so I was wondering if BTS tracked the number of Mac vs Windows users. I am very pleased about their support for the Mac and look forward to CM2 (hopefully by XMAS so I can ask Santa to bring it!)
  10. Just wanted to start with my opinion that this is by far the BEST game I have played on my Mac since the old Ancient Art of War on my 512kE. I do have a question for the guys at BTS. I know you don't publish your sales figures, but could you say the percentage of Mac vs PC buyers. I know you have a commitment to the Mac and I look forward to CM2. P.S. I play CMBO on my PB1400c with a G3-250 NuPower and 40MB and it works like a champ.
