The US army uses numerous .50 cal sniper rifles. Most of them use a shorter case than the original M2 .50 cal round. There was a few confirmed kills in the gulf war of over 1800 meters with a .50 cal rifle. It has plenty of punch to go thru an engine block under 1,000 meters.

Using a HQ with "Combat" command bonuses seems to help accuracy for me. Maybe i'm just dreaming it, i haven't done any real tests but it works for me.

There are lots of battles that i like but my favourite is. HUGE! Battles! 10,000pt plus 60 turns plus. Map no smaller than 1.5Km square. Max 2Km square REALISTIC forces. Just because it's a big battle does not mean everyone should have loads off heavy ARTY and Heavy Armor. Keep it as realistic as possible. Panver IV's and Vanilla Shermans. Standard 25pdr or 105mm ARTY. If you wish to create an entire scenario i would prefer it playable against the AI. It just depends if you would prefer things simple or as realistic as possible. The CMMC is so "In-Depth" you can't possibly comprehend it until you are envolved. This system would probably better suit "Weekend warriors" while the CMMC is for more "Hard core" Wargamers for lack of better words.

Or you could just join the CMMC. The largest and most well thought out campaign system for Combat Mission. CMMC
