Donald Rumsfeld and the Strange History of Aspartame
Vanir Ausf B replied to dieseltaylor's topic in General Discussion Forum
So how did Rumsfeld get Aspartame approved by the UK Food Standards Agency, the European Food Safety Authority and Health Canada? -

You should also ban US rocket artillery, IMO. German rockets are fine. -

That would be so bad-ass! -
War Crimes in Video Games Draw Red Cross Scrutiny
Vanir Ausf B replied to Boeman's topic in General Discussion Forum
Given that US courts, including the Supreme Court, have ruled that video games are afforded First Amendment protection any such law would face slim chances here. I could see it happening in Germany. -
That may work fine in real-time, but in WEGO the enemy unit can move completely through the kill zone in 60 seconds. What this game needs is a return of the Ambush command from CMBO.

Bogging and Immobilized: is it right?
Vanir Ausf B replied to A Canadian Cat's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
I don't know what hidden number CMBN uses, but CMBB uses .97 (13.9 psi) for the Tiger I. -
I do appreciate your timing... :)

Correct regarding hearing damage, but no other physical injuries were reported. http://oai.dtic.mil/oai/oai?verb=getRecord&metadataPrefix=html&identifier=ADA244127 -
I'll pay you $50 if you promise to never wear a G-string again.

I feel fairly confident is asserting that there is a big difference in the lethality of medium caliber HE of all types between CMx1 and CMx2. In CMx1 60mm mortars were primarily a suppression tool and smoke layer. Sure, they'd cause an occasional casualty here and there, but if you wanted to kill and destroy you needed 105mm or larger. The same holds true for armor mounted weapon systems. In CMBN I see little need for dedicated HE chuckers like the Sherman 105 and StuH42. The 75 and 76mm guns will quickly wreck any non-armored target they fire at. I'm not saying one is any more realistic than the other, but I do see a difference.

Bets please - Tiger Vs M10 at close range.
Vanir Ausf B replied to Johnsy's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
The section of armor that was actually struck is 100mm thick and sloped at 9 degrees. My earlier post was in error. -

Not true. The post by Rexford I linked to refers specifically to 3” Chevrolet APCBC. -

I went back to look and you are correct. Good catch. I should have remembered that. True. It should be noted, however, that it is debatable how realistic this is. It appears the game may not model shatter gap, which would reduce the range at which the US 76mm gun could penetrate the Tiger hull down to less than 100m, at least for some US ammunition. http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=990 -
Bets please - Tiger Vs M10 at close range.
Vanir Ausf B replied to Johnsy's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
The Tiger was hit on the "Superstructure Front Hull", which in CMBN-speak means the steeply sloped plate between the upper and lower hull. This plate is the thinnest part of the Tiger's frontal area at only 60mm thick. It relies on the fact that it is steeply sloped to resist penetration, but the M10 was firing from a higher elevation, reducing the slope effect. -
Combined Arms - Why Was It Removed?
Vanir Ausf B replied to Juno Beach's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
One man's reasonable is another man's "WTF?!" It would be nice not to worry your opponent might show up with 10 batteries of 240mm artillery. Ideally, the portion of points allotted to each category could be adjustable. -
Help against Artillery
Vanir Ausf B replied to GerryCMBB's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
It would be nice if we had a Combined Arms force option for QBs -- a la CMx1 -- that would limit how many points could be spent on artillery. As it stands, my recommendation is to play on large maps. -
http://www.battlefront.com/community/showpost.php?p=985480&postcount=12 Note: CMBO sold more than any other CM game, followed by CMBB. Steve has said that CMBN is on pace to sell about as well as CMBB.

NFL (American football) VS Rugby
Vanir Ausf B replied to roadiemullet's topic in General Discussion Forum
All but one NFL team is privately owned, but looking at the numbers for the one that is public we see $9.8 million in profit for fiscal year 2010 on $257.9 million in revenue. According to the article, that is about average. -

Case 1 is a known exception to the laws of physics as we understand them: http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?p=1272591#post1272591 Case 2 I'm not so sure about. It may qualify for a different known exception to logic alluded to in that most excellent link above... ... because of the fact that the on-board mortars have a green dot next to their BN HQ. -
any bones from upcoming expansion pack?
Vanir Ausf B replied to togi's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
By their own admission, BFC has missed every release date they have ever set prior to a game being finished. So giving us a schedule would only tell us when not to expect the British module BTW, the shortest turn-around time between modules for CMSF was 9 months. -
