  1. The turrets and hulls for German tanks were frequently produced at different factories. The turret skirts were PART of the turret production. The hull skirts were an add-on, after production. (Meaning, either added on by the troops after a kit was sent to them, or done as one of the last steps after all the other hull work was done.) The turret skirts were made for ALL turrets which were produced after a certain date. (Not handy.) This led to a transition period when turrets had skirts and hulls did not. Sicily occurred during this transition period.
  2. Fraech, I like what I've read of Slysniper's thread. I cannot imagine playing CMx1 anymore. Nor can I understand anyone who holds CMx1 as being better than CMx2. Having said that, no, CMx2 is not perfect. Looking at what you describe: The soldier is helping his wounded comrade, right in front of him, rather than continuing to pop smoke. That's what I'd want my buddy to do for me. Why should he pop smoke? There's no one around. Or so he thinks. That makes PERFECT sense to me. You, the player, may not like a soldier stopping to bandage his buddy instead of fighting, but it happens. The LOS is not a problem. The wreck blocks his LOS to the one armored car. The fact that he is crouched down means the wall blocks his LOS to the other armored car. If you think I'm one to cover up any flaws or warts in the system, you need to search out my posts. Now, would it be BETTER if engine sound could create "curiosity" and possible spots? Sure. How noisy is a stationary armored car? How deafened by incoming or outgoing fire is that soldier? What other noises are around him? How about a screaming comrade, pumping out his lifeblood? Kind of an attention getter. Ken
  3. Split into teams. Have one team on each side isolate the sides of the building. If the squad back there runs to the alleyways, it'll be hit hard. I'm assuming you have no other options. That your ONLY way is to go forward. (Really, why not take the adjacent building and fire on his guys from there? That'd be far better...) Move one team adjacent to the front of the building, but do not enter. FACE towards the rear. Wait for it... When his men poke up, your front-siders will suppress him. If he stays down, or gets suppressed, then have that team pop smoke into the building (FACE will aim the smoke) and TARGET LIGHT the space behind the building. (If no LOS, then TARGET LIGHT into the building). After 30sec or a minute of that, have another team QUICK into the building with a FACE to the back. (Use one of the flanking teams if you need to.) If you KNOW the enemy is still back there, don't use a FACE, use a TARGET to their action spot. You will have men die. That's what happens. Have your building front-siders join the other team inside after 30sec to 1 min. (Allow the grenade flurry to abate.) If there is a second floor, give another 30 sec delay to another flanker and move them in and up. Or, if you have enough survivors in the first two teams, have one of them move up. (QUICK or FAST, with FACE when they get there.) Or, pull back 100m, keep LOS to the area, and call in the 155's.
  4. Yes, fine, but how does company visiting SLOW your play? Wouldn't any houseguest be eager to sit behind their host and watch, with bated breath, as he plans his 20,000 pt. move? Wretched ingrates. They probably expect to use your indoor plumbing, as well. (Make them play: you know they want to drive your tanks! )
  5. Yeah. Something about the "C Team" is ALWAYS the anti-tank team or something. So, if you make an extra team and they're "C", then they get that icons. I _think_ it's fixed in CMFI. Without being able to fire it up, I can't tell. I certainly don't recall running into it.
  6. It has been like this since release. There's a coding issue behind it...
  7. KT1 through 4? "King Tiger"? Oh, that would tip the scales...
  8. But don't you DARE touch my FPAT's!!! (Fanatic Pistol Assault Troops)
  9. You're INSANE!!! In a cool, I've got to watch this unfold, kind of way. Bring it. Oh, screenshots or it's a FAIL. Ken
  10. Not so simple. At first hit texts displayed the last plate penetrated. That meant that a tank hit in the front with a through and through penetration would display "Rear Hull Penetration", for example. That creates a bit of confusion. As would, "Front Penetration, Bulkhead Penetration, Rear Penetration". The system settled on was the FIRST penetration would be the location noted. In the case of skirts, it means you don't know if it penetrates the tank. But then, would you know that in real life? All you could see would be a hole in the skirt. I think the system, as it is now, is pretty good. Ken
  11. Yes, ^^^, and also ensure that you made your Mortar DEPLOY.
  12. Spreadsheets? You're using spreadsheets? No one ever won a battle using spreadsheets! Now, get out of your office and get BACK IN THE FIGHT!!! Spreadsheets. What's this man's army coming to?
  13. Ooops. There I was THINKING GaJ, but typing ZPBII. Sorry 'bout that! Ken
  14. John Kettler, Set up a hot seat, wego, test. Fire at the side of a Panther with the weapons you indicated, above. The hot seat will allow you to play both sides. (If you dismount the Panthers first, it may allow more shots against them. Just sayin'...) When the hit text states "side skirt", then look at the damage details for the Panther. I would be surprised if you don't see some degradation of systems. That information is only available to the German player, hence the hot seat instruction. Let us know. Ken
  15. ZPBII, You are focused quite tightly on the issue of "driverless jeep + scout team = jeep icon". You think it should show a scout icon. I understand why you think that, but here are some other iterations of that issue. Driverless jeep + HQ team = ? Driverless jeep + one man who survived from my bungled attack = ? Driverless jeep + jeep driver from a different jeep = ? Driverless jeep + bar team = ? If the jeep + x took the icon of whatever sits in the jeep, the player could not find out who has wheels. I agree that it would be nice to have some sort of icon which differentiates that status. I know that I frequently hunt to see what status my vehicles are in: Driver? If Driver, is it Armed? If Armed, is there a Gunner? Right now the logic is internally consistent. If they did what you're asking, without integrating all the iterations I listed (and all the other possibilities) then it would merely create more confusion. Ken
  16. Or think of ballistic gel and a 20mm shell...
  17. ...and we all just got a snapshot of what goes through MikeyD's mind while he's on vacation!
  18. Now that CMFI has been released, I think it would be interesting to compare a lot of these wishes with what has been included in CMFI.
  19. Hah!!! You lot think you can fool me with this thread? Downloading, indeed. Enjoy.
