1. Just going to add here that i've experienced it in small point (500) and large point (well, 2,000 is as large as i've played tcp/ip) games. I've had it happen in scenarios and in operations as well. On rare occasions it will work out, maybe 1 out of 5-7 times (?). Rebooting has not in my experience resolved the issue. Some one mentioned loaded HT's as well as prisoners being a potential cause. I have had it happen when a prisoner had been taken, but numerous times prisoners have been taken and the freeze has not occurred. I know it has happened when no HT's were in the game, though I have no specific memory of it occuring with HT's in a game (although there could have been HT's in some of the freeze instances,I just don't recall). Oh, I also am running Windows ME, P3 1 Ghz, 256 ram, 64 mb nVidia GeForce 2 Ultra. Nothing further to add here.
2. dolphinsendzone? Don't tell me you're a 'Phin fan too? nice pic [ 05-27-2001: Message edited by: Agua ]
3.
quote:
Originally posted by caralampio: I've found myself staring at trees and thinking, wow, those things look cool, just like the Hi-Res woods mods in CM...

LOL...yeah, done that. I find myself identifying which mod the natural surroundings look like, thinking, just like "DD's trees", and that looks like "gunnergoz's brushy grass"
4.
quote:
Originally posted by CombinedArms: JasonC's suggestions for tank attack are really good and specific--and include a few intriguing wrinkles I'd never thought about--but it might be worth further reinforcing that with the new version (1.12) it's really hard to kill pillboxes with tank fire. Moreover, all pillboxes are Axis and most Allied tanks can be killed frontally with the 75mm guns typically in pillboxes. 88s are even deadlier.

Yeah, Jason's comments always make it into my personal "player's guide" and he is, as always, right again; with infantry 800m away and unknown enemy units in between, it's too much potentially deadly ground to cover with smoke (unless he's got a ton of 81mm FO's). About his only choice is to try to take 'em out with tanks. I agree though, if you're using any US tank lighter than a jumbo, losing 1 tank out of three sounds like the rare exception rather than the rule.
5. Too much CM? I imagine a lot of folks have had the experience of watching for hull down cars traveling along the highway.
6. Storm, On this board is a section called "opponent finder". You can post there to find opponents. Also, the CMHQ chat is a good place to find opponents.
7.
quote:
Originally posted by Terence: Even against the AI, this is one tough fight.

Amen. Good luck.
8. Yeah, "brutal" pretty much sums it up. I think it does an outstanding job of portraying the brutality of what I imagine urban combat to consist of. This one is a classic IMHO.
9. Good job Storm!!! That is a tough scenario, and ya learned something through playing it. That's one of the neat things about this game is you're continually learning something new. It is truly a masterpiece. Remember that when you get frustrated, just keep working through, asking questions on the forum and you'll work through to a solution and learn something new. It is a very tough scenario and gets you to begin thinking in terms of combined arms to solve it. [ 05-06-2001: Message edited by: Agua ]
10. Screw 'em both. Get the PSW 253 for approximately 65 points. Will surivive small arms fire.
11. Manx, As I said, you do an incredible job with that list and it is purely a labor of love. I'm surprised that there are that many out there that you don't have, but the way some of these things are just released on the forum, sites coming and going, there's no way in hell you can be certain to have every single mod out there. I utilized your list for my rebuilding program and it probably saved me two days worth of work hunting hither and yonder. Thanks for your awesome service.
12. That's it Heinz!!! I was going to say Magua had made the ones I was talking about, but I wasn't sure. Thanks. Agua - (Nice to take the day off today..he he)
13. Tanx Heinz, but those are the ones I have. THey're lovely, no doubt, but these have distinct alternating rather dark green and yellowish cream stripes. Anyone?
14. Y'all, I had a hi-res mod for the spw 250, 251, et cetera, with sort of alternating green and cream colored stripes. Due to an unfortunate accident, I lost all my textures and had to re-mod the whole damned game. I thought I had downloaded them from CM Outpost, but apparently not. Does anyone have these mods and can remember where you got them from? Yes, I've looked at Manx's site, and Manx does an incredible job of keeping the mod list up, but he simply does not have every mod there is, nor could anyone reasonably be expected to. Thanks in advance Agua
15. I did a search on this before (I can't remember the specific source, but for some reason I took it as authoritative) and the answer was that NO SIZE artillery can take out concrete pillboxes, direct hit, collateral damage, blah, blah, period. I have experience attempting to do this, with at least two direct hits, in a scenario named "Grandcamp" using a 14" Navy gun and the concrete pillbox survived. Of course, my single experience doesn't prove that it can't happen, but combined with my, somewhat vague, memory of the discussion on this, I personally am accepting this as fact.
16. sorry, but i haven't bought any separate components online.
17. Get an nVidia (not some knock off brand, but the real thing) GeForce 2 w/ 32mb ram. That will do the trick and you won't have to be hoping that it will work.
18. Jake, Quit trying to cheap out. Spring for the nVidea. LOL. BTW, haven't heard back from ya. Still on at usual time tonight?
19. Looks GREAT PUD!!! But, could you make one with a little darker grey added? LOL!! (just kidding)
20. Still in playtesting and not yet available. It will be worth your wait.
21. My apologies, Rune. Damned good scenario. I like ones that will kick your ass.
22. A Matter of Honor by Wild Bill Wilder. Massive and, as you can imagine, difficult.
