  1. Good decision gator. Best entertainment $ I've ever spent. You're ALWAYS learning something new with this game: there is that much depth. It really doesn't take that long to receive CM after ordering it. I live in Mississippi and have ordered four copies of CM (one and replacement for myself, other two for friends). Each time it arrives within a week of ordering it.
  2. Hey, CA, send me an e-mail, I want to discuss something with ya.
  3. Cauldron, The Scenario Depot is a work in progress. Admiral Keth has to attempt to contact every designer of every cmb/cmc and get their permission before he can offer it for download himself. Quite simply, there are a lot of authors who can not be contacted and the Admiral can do no more than make repeated attempts. The depot is a work in progress. I hate to come off as chiding a new player, but realize the Depot is being developed and the Admiral is diligently seeking permission of as many designers as possible as a service to the CM community. Best wishes and good luck in all your battles
  4. As far as scavenging weapons, the probability that solidiers will grab up the more desireable weapons dropped by their fallen squad mates is dependent upon their experience and suppression level at the time, and as mentioned above, they will pass around their last clips of ammo amongst themselves. They do not scavenge weapons or ammo from fallen soldiers outside their own squads though.

  6. Gator, I read in another thread that you had been "holding off" on purchasing the "full version" of CMBO. Are you busting these concrete bunkers with 105mm on the Demo or am I misunderstanding your post and you do, in fact, have CMBO? If its the demo only, I can see where the difference in observation is coming from: there have been at least two updates to CMBO since the demo. I don't know for a fact that these updates changed anything with regard to 105mm v. concrete bunkers, but it could explain the difference between your observations and the general perception.
  7. I dl'd it the other night just to see how it looked. I don't like flight sims (that is, I can't land the damned things) and I can't say that IL-2 changed my mind in that respect BUT, it was very, very well done and worth the dl (~100mb) just to see the autopilot run through the missions (I think there are three missions on there, autopilot runs by hitting "A" and an external view of the plane is available by hitting "F-6" or "F-7"). Deleted it after watching the missions but still a pretty neat looking demo.
  8. Crap, just personally, if CMBB were going to make CMBO obsolete or something, then yeah, I could see a price break, but since it will have some additional features and tweaks and deal with a different theatre, I see the two titles as complementary rather than sequential. Further, just an educated guess here, but based on the increase in forum posters over the past couple of months, I'd say CMBO's sales are accelerating (I know I've contributed to some of that through recommendation on numerous message boards). A lot of people have never even heard of CMBO and it is primarily through word of mouth that its existence is learned. Obviously, just speculation here, but I would think CMBO should sustain its appeal, to a large extent, due to its offering of a different theatre than CMBB. I just don't see any reason to cut the price on it.
  9. Just got your e-mail this morning. Yeah, I'm in. I will be delayed in getting material to you until this weekend because work is going to be a BITCH the remainder of this week. I can see how this team approach could be very productive.
  10. If you perform some more tests on this gator, please keep us updated on this.
  11. Wow. That is contrary to my own experience and everything I've read on this board, but who knows? Please give us an update on that, will ya? As it has come up on the board several times in the past, it is obviously of great interest.
  12. 105mm - you must be talking about wooden bunkers. This approach has been discussed numerous times on this board and with regard to concrete bunkers, artillery, regardless of size, will not take them out. Folks have reported, however, that the Priest is capable of taking out a pillbox, frontally, upon occasion.
  13. Niles, Send it to me please. I was about to pick back up on the campaign and figured since you had also modified #2, as per your e-mail, I'd just start the whole thing over. TiA
  14. Yes, please do McAuliffe. TiA
  15. LOL!! Rommel, that quote came from the second or third battle of "Across the Reich", didn't it?
  16. Thanks!! I did review that user / spec sheet document. I have done all the tweaking that the monitor controls themselves allow. The video card is a 64mb nVidia Geforce2 Ultra. That info on the sony equivalent may well come in handy as whenever I gave support reps the Dell model number, they quickly responded it wasn't supported and I needed a GDP or whatever model number for them to be able to assist me.
  17. Enjoy Danzig. Don't hesitate to spread the word either. Best damned wargame out there.
  18. Man, I need your help, or anyone else really. I just got a used 21" monitor that was part of an equipment lease program. It is a Sony Ultrascan 1600 something or other and it was manufactured for Dell. Dell identifies it as a D 1626HT (I think). I am running Windows ME. Anyway, when I initially install it, everything looks fine, except for every application I try out, including the desktop itself, the very top portion of the application will not display, although the screen will fill up the entire viewing area of the monitor. I'm talking about things such as the "minimize", "maximize" and "close" buttons on the top of windows and all windows based applications. Okay, so I go to a support page and it recommends for that size monitor, that I set the resolution to 1600 x 1200. I do this and as concerns web browsers, the top portion of the applications are now visible, but everything is TINY AS HELL. Okay, now with the computer set at 1600 x 1200 resolution, I remove the CM "preferences" file, and when I start CM, the screen goes black for only a second, then starts up (without any dialog boxes concerning resolution or anything else). It appears to have the same problem with non-display of the top portion of the screen that was present with everything else prior to setting the resolution to the higher level. Despite all my tweaking with the controls on the monitor for "zoom", "size", "center", as well as tweaking with a "center" adjustment in the "display" portion of the "control panel" in windows, there is still a small portion of CM at the very top which just won't display. It comes into play as actually mattering when I try to do a QB and the button at the top which says "okay" isn't displayed. I can goof around, blindly, and hit it, eventually, but I say this only in the hopes of conveying the situation to you as to the problem. Windows ME indicates that I have the latest driver for the monitor. What am I doing wrong and what do I need to do?
  19. I'm not certain that points were actually being added to your opponent, but rather, remember that the "victory" points on the bottom of the screen are only your force's *perceived* level of victory; that is, what your little electronic soldiers believe the relative victory level is. If you have a bunch of guys split into half-squads, with the concomitant morale loss, the total impact of combined lowered morale could be attributing a percieved superior position of the enemy, vis a' vis, your guys. This is just speculation on my part, but that is the first answer that jumps to my mind. Your mileage may vary.
