was this ever used by the germans in WWII?
Forever Babra replied to mensch's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Edited to pull my head outa my ass I had it confused with the Minenraumpanzer Raumer, which looks quite similar from the front. ------------------ When it's my turn to march up to Glory, I'm gonna have one HELL of a story... [This message has been edited by Forever Babra (edited 01-30-2001).] -
Girl Power - Russian Style

According to Alexander Werth (Russia at War), after the displacement of Soviet factories, large numbers of women necessarily became proficient at driving tanks, moving them from the assembly lines of tankograd (or wherever) to the rail flatbeds. As the armoured force expanded in 42 and 43, fewer and fewer qualified drivers could be found, necessitating the enlistment of these women. The assembly lines ultimately proved to be an excellent source of skilled drivers. ------------------ When it's my turn to march up to Glory, I'm gonna have one HELL of a story... -
So afraid was Bastables of his coming topplement, he's gone and volunteered for a crisis zone or something, being the less painful option. Now, he says he'll be back in November, (which would make his file turnaround time about equal with Herr Oberst), but I expect he'll have some other sad excuse like, "Oh, my LAV hit a mine and I don't feel well," or "Oh, it's bloody wool shearing month," or some such lameness. Lorak, please inscribe: Babs: Draw Bastables: Draw ------------------ When it's my turn to march up to Glory, I'm gonna have one HELL of a story...

Some points of order. While we are oh so proud of his feats of mental reasoning, dear, dear Rob/1 does not speak for the rest of us snowbirds. And isn't it ironic that he changed his name to Sherman? Not Brock, not Prevost, not Crerar, not McNaughton... Sherman? Could he PICK a bigger yank? I'd urge my southern friends not to take his rantings too seriously (if you can decipher them, that is). He confuses the good-natured way we like to rib our neighbours with animosity or somefink. Now, all that said, Canada made one contribution to the war effort that's hard to top -- large quantities of Uranium ------------------ When it's my turn to march up to Glory, I'm gonna have one HELL of a story... -
1965 was the consecration of the Maple Leaf. You all fail your grade bloody seven social studies and are stripped of grogdom until you can write an essay on the Riel Rebellion, the role of Fenians in Confederation, and the number of pop stars Maggie Trudeau slept with. For the benefit of Henri, the red-white-red is an AFV recognition strip used by commonwealth forces. Different nationalities used different colours. British are white-red-white. They had dropped out of usage by '44. ------------------ When it's my turn to march up to Glory, I'm gonna have one HELL of a story...

You really think you could pull them outa the Junior Ranks' mess at only 3am? Hell, that's happy hour... I never did learn why the British and Commonwealth armies never earned the title of "Royal". Here's a couple of nice pics I scanned and use as a wallpaper when I'm bored. The second one is 1024x768 and works well as a background because it's dark. The big change that I would like to see for all vehicle-borne flamethrowers is to use area fire while moving. All the film footage and first-hand accounts I've read, show or tell of spraying an area while driving across its front. It would definitely make these vehicles more effective. But the hell with effective, it would be more fun ------------------ When it's my turn to march up to Glory, I'm gonna have one HELL of a story...

I did a quick test with the 3106 bitmap to see if it could be converted to a cage skirt as seen on the Pz IVJ in the final days. The test worked well. I just painted the whole thing pink and slapped a black grid on top. However, and I've said it before, I just suck at mods. Anyone feel like tackling it? ------------------ When it's my turn to march up to Glory, I'm gonna have one HELL of a story...
