OT: Where did YOU start?

SPI's "Napoleon's Last Battles" was my first. I thought it was the be-all and end-all How far we've come... ------------------ When it's my turn to march up to Glory, I'm gonna have one HELL of a story... -

All leaps of military doctrine require a pioneer, someone to step forward and say "Let's do it this way". That pioneer also has to be in a position to actually implement the change, a Bruchmuller, a Guderian. Until then, keep manoevering ------------------ When it's my turn to march up to Glory, I'm gonna have one HELL of a story... -

I don't think it's too great a leap of logic to suggest that when the commander has more info than the men on the ground, he is going to take a more active role in their movements. -
When a thread moves off page one, people sometimes "bump" it back to the top of the message list by posting in the thread. This thread will now move to the top of page one. ------------------ When it's my turn to march up to Glory, I'm gonna have one HELL of a story...

That's what we get for tryin' to help out Maxim-ass. If you don't like the language the English gave you, learn another, and stop telling the rest of the world what's right. ------------------ When it's my turn to march up to Glory, I'm gonna have one HELL of a story... -

Comparrison: Sherman III vs. Sherman V

Both the M4A2 and M4A4 used fully welded hulls. However, the front armour on the M4A4 was simpler than the M4A2, using five major sections instead of seven. Both used castings and rolled plate for the major sections, but I am unclear which sections were made of what. I suspect the M4A4 used more castings and less rolled plate, which would account for its poorer rating. ------------------ When it's my turn to march up to Glory, I'm gonna have one HELL of a story... -
So glad you had a nice day. *I*, on the other hand, had nothing to brighten my day but a nice, mellow, lovingly hand-rolled Havana. Oh, I'm sorry, can't you get those in the land of the free? And it's "opulent" you ninny. You should launder some of that embezzled money by investing in an education. Oh, and if you're quite done setting up, send along the first move -- I hate to bother (as it has only been two weeks), but I'd like to get started before the next millenium. ------------------ When it's my turn to march up to Glory, I'm gonna have one HELL of a story...

(OT) Who says the metric system is hard?
Forever Babra replied to jshandorf's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Labatts, eh? Well, I guess next to American beer it does seem good. It hardly compares to an Upper Canada Winterbrew though (a mere 8% alcohol). Don't know what size bottle the factory brews come in, but a quick glance at the pile of empties in the kitchen shows sizes ranging from 341ml to 355ml, depending on the brand. ------------------ When it's my turn to march up to Glory, I'm gonna have one HELL of a story... -

allied Anti Armour,, which to get for defence?
Forever Babra replied to Titan's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
You didn't specify nationality, but here's some thoughts. - Hellcat -- speedy and lethal. - Archer -- (yes really). Got a chance to use one the other day and it really is a fully function mobile AT gun. Give it good cover and a path to fast move to safety. - Any 76mm armed tank. - Daimlers/Greyhounds -- also speedy and can be very dangerous on defence. Low cost and flexible platforms. - 57mm/6pdr AT gun -- set them up with interlocking fields of fire to get flank shots. Few Germans can take these in the side. Keep them hidden and don't reveal them until the panzers show themselves. - 40mm Bofors -- shreds light things, blows down buildings like a hurricane, and will suppress/pin/break anything soft it catches moving. It won't last long once spotted though. Just my thoughts. Others will disagree. Everyone has their favourites. ------------------ When it's my turn to march up to Glory, I'm gonna have one HELL of a story... -

Mace and Moose. Apart from being alliteratively unacceptable, I don't think it would work. Besides, I don't know what "Mace" in the past tense would be. Maced I suppose, but Mace Moosed is some scary imagery. In other news, he (Mace "Boogie Nights" Knight) sent me some "computer" generated QB assault. So How does a company of Churchill VIIIs cross 800m of open ground with a King Tiger on the other side anyway? Herr Oberst continues to astonish me. He sends turns about as often as the optometrist sends me a "reminder". I'm quite sure he sucks beyond all recognition (SuBAR), but at this rate he'll never PROVE it... ------------------ When it's my turn to march up to Glory, I'm gonna have one HELL of a story...
