  1. The reason why the US didn't use the L/55 120mm that the German's have gone to is because the M829A3 round fired from the L/44 M256 has greater performance and it's a safe bet it will penetrate frontally at battle ranges.
  2. I don't think this is out of the scope of modern CM at all. In a 45 minute scenario, there is plenty of time for one side's air or dedicated cb arty to locate and rain on the other side's firing arty. It may be out of the scope of time to code it versus far more important things, though.
  3. It does not show up for me either. Makes me wonder if he made it under the new patched version (i.e. he's a beta tester) and it won't show up for us until we are patched, which should be soon according to Phil.
  4. Take a look in the mod section and the Repository. Oddball E8, waclaw, and Jorge MC have all given us a metric ****ton of sound mods to cherry pick and use. It takes time, but I enjoy comparing the sounds and picking the ones that suit me.
  5. Loved AK. Nothing like long range shootouts where the hits are few and far between. And two more words: Dust. Columns.
  6. Hope you're doing better and so is your hardware. It's another beauty.
  7. Welcome to the forums. Interesting that you dug out a 3 year old thread for your first post.
  8. I remember them well. I have mostly played pbem and multiplayer campaigns through the years, but there have been times where I played against the AI for one reason or another. In CMx1, staying at level 1 (unless the unit was on a 2nd floor), advancing from unit to unit via the + and - keys, never clicking on an enemy unit, and letting my units choose their own targets gave a real sense of immersion and limited control. It was always funny to jump to a routed unit in the woods and wonder where in the world they were. It was the only way the AI could ever even come close to a draw. In CMx2, I could see events leading to an actual AI win one day, which would actually be satisfying, but yes, it's still quite enjoyable in RT, BN, and FI.
  9. Indeed there is. That's one feature a lot of us miss, but all the improvements in x2 are so fantastic, you won't miss x1.
  10. Yep, Franko's True Combat rules from back in the day. Only way to make the AI challenging.
  11. Possible in CMx1 (and much used for me) but not possible in CMx2. Maybe some day.
