1. It wasn't working for me earlier today, but I just tried again it it was working fine.
2. Ok, I tried again and got them this time. I think too many mod sluts are trying at the same time!
3. When I try to download these I get an error message. Are these available anywhere else?
4. I got a bad CD too, but all the pages are in the manual. If you haven't already gone to the tech support forum and read about the install problem I'd go there now. The downloading of files worked for me. I guess you should e-mail Matt about the manual as well as your bad CD.
5. That's what I've seen as well. I was attacked by the AI's aircraft on the first pass. On the next too attacks the aircraft went after the AI's forces by mistake. I wasn't complaining!
6. I noticed this too. I quit using "random" as an option because it always came up infantry. It's good to know that it only takes a restart to correct this.
7. I assume you are talking about using HE on soft targets. It wouldn't matter if you are using direct targeting or area targeting. It is the same shell, with the same blast effects, either way.
8. I'm not a programmer, so maybe I'm way off base here. I just didn't think it would be all that difficult to have the AI set up mines between the enemy setup area and the objectives. And if the opposing forces set up in the east, and the objective flags are in the west, to tell the AI to rotate the wire so it runs north-south. Maybe this is a lot more difficult than it appears to someone that has no idea of what it takes to program this. I'm not asking for the perfectly laid out fortress here, just a common sense approach to the basics.
9. I agree. Aircraft are very much improved over CMBO. I'm actually going to use them now.
10. The placement of fortifications. I just played a quick battle against the AI and it bought 8 AT mines. It put them in the back corners where the odds of anything ever running them over were about zero. It also placed most of the wire turned 90 degrees from the direction it should have been in. My troops just ran inbetween them. If they would have been turned the correct way that wouldn't be possible.
11. This is one of my favorite changes in CMBB. The fact that you can punch hole after hole in the enemy vehicle and still don't know if it is dead or not is very cool and seems pretty realistic. I notice this alot when playing with small calibre guns. I just got done with a QB where a T-26 went up against a 20mm armed armored car. The T-26 scored the first hit but it did not cause any crew casualties and the armored car put two holes in the T-26 before the T-26 got off the next shot. That shot caused the armored car crew to route, but still had not caused any casualties. The next shot caused the crew to bail. This doesn't happen as fast as it used to though and two more holes in the amored car killed the crew before they could get out. I was sitting there yelling "GET OUT OF THERE!!!," but the poor guys didn't make it.
12. I haven't upgraded to XP yet, but I assume it is like any other windows. You hit the "print screen" key on the keyboard which puts the image on your "clipboard." Then just open a program that allows you to paste an image into it ("Paint" works just fine - it is located in Start>Programs>Accessories) and paste it.
13. If you bring up the details of the unit the passengers/tows show up. It would be nice if there was an indicator on the unit main screen though. What would be really cool is if that indicator on the unit main screen also clickable which would then activate that passenger/tow.
14. But not the slowest... P2-233 (no overclocking) Same v-card 160 MB ram Windows 95
15. I have a lot of fun with the light tanks/armored cars as well. Yesterday I played a QB against the AI. I was defending against a Russian assualt. My only "armor" was a 20mm equiped vehicle (I can't remember if it was a light tank or armored car). I also had a 37mm AT gun. The russians brought a bunch of T-26 and armored cars. It was awesome!
16. I'm probably running on one of the slowest machines of anyone playing CMBB. Celeron 366 first version of the TNT card with 16MB 192 MB system RAM Windows 98 SE I have overclocked the CPU from 366 to 550 which helps a lot. The game doesn't run that bad, but I don't play many battles over 1000 points. I keep 3 man squads on and the full fog/smoke. I often turn the trees off, just for ease of play, so that probably helps alot. As soon as I can scrape together some money I would like to upgrade so I can play some larger battles, but that will probably be awhile.
17. I downloaded the files last night and the game seems to be working fine. I'm glad they made these available. Stuff happens, and the response to that stuff is a good way to judge a business. BTS has handled this very well.
18. Well damn, I got hit with this too. I tried first using my CDRW drive and it couldn't even start the install. I put the disk in my DVD drive and got through most of the .wav files before it crapped out. I'm downloading the files now and sent an e-mail to Matt. It's disappointing, but at least there appears to be a work around for now. If the downloads don't work I'm going to go insane though! No damnit, it isn't just a game!!!
19. True in some cases, but not true in others. The germans assisted Japan in the building of the Nakajima Kikka (Orange Blossom), which was very much like a smaller version of the Me 262. The Japanese also obtained a license to manufacture the Me 163 (they called it the J8M1) and loaded a Komet and a full set of plans onto a submarine to bring back to Japan. Italy was the second country in the world to fly a jet aircraft, behind only Germany. I don't know if Germany helped the Italians like they helped the Japanese though.
20. "Sorry, this site is temporarily unavailable! The web site you are trying to access has exceeded its allocated data transfer. Visit our help area for more information." Nope, it's down.
21. If they are not will they at least be factored in to the chance of an AFV finding hull down status? I know there is supposed to be a find hull down type of command. Will it be easier for an AFV with good gun depression ability to find a hull down location?
22.
quote:
Originally posted by Richard Cuccia, the PiggDogg: In fact, 2 inchers wacking Axis guns at close range is just about the only use for those suckers.

I use them to supress enemy MGs while infantry squad(s) charge the MG. The mortars don't have to kill the enemy to be effective. This won't work if the MG is in a building though.
