  1. Wow, great pictures! Thanks for the link. Can someone tell me what the writing on these bombs says?
  2. The diet of my 75mm spotters? Usually they eat AT guns. Sometimes they also eat infantry guns and howitzers. On special occations they will splurge and eat an open topped vehicle or two.
  3. Thanks Teddy. I'll send him an e-mail and see if he can help me out.
  4. Can anyone offer any advice on my problem?
  5. It seems a few players over on the Band of Brothers message board have encountered this as well. Does anyone know a safe way to go from TCP/IP to PBEM? Madmatt, is this a known bug?
  6. I can't even get the rulesets to load. Here is what I get in the log file: WARNING: Could not open "d:\games\cmbb\CM Mod Option Selector\CMBB\RuleSet320\Description320-072.txt" for writing ERROR: Unable to copy Description320-072.txt tod:\games\cmbb\CM Mod Option Selector\CMBB\RuleSet320\ WARNING: Could not open "d:\games\cmbb\CM Mod Option Selector\CMBB\RuleSet320\Description320-074.txt" for writing ERROR: Unable to copy Description320-074.txt tod:\games\cmbb\CM Mod Option Selector\CMBB\RuleSet320\ Can someone throw me a bone here?
  7. After I got CMBO my wife left me. No, I'm not kidding. It could just be a coincidence though. Oh, and now that I don't have a woman living at my place I seem to have much more time to play CMBB! [ April 22, 2003, 01:06 AM: Message edited by: Subvet ]
  8. Can you see fog in CM with any of the new ATI cards?
  9. Go here and scroll to the bottom of the page. Click on "CM2 XLS Tables" and open the zip file.
  10. I ran into a problem today where I wasn't able to give orders on a turn. We were playing via TCP/IP and it was getting late so we decided to take it to e-mails. We watched the movie on TCP/IP and then my opponent saved the game. I didn't give any orders and didn't hit the done button. When he logged out the game shut down. When he sent me the e-mail file it was the movie for the next turn! I never got the chance to give any orders. I'm wondering if this is something anyone else has ever seen. Is this a bug? I'd definitely think twice before converting a TCP/IP game to PBEM again!

  12. When you say that you are checking the "weakened units" setting do you mean the fitness level or the casualty level? The only reason I ask is because the word "weakened" appears under fitness and not casualties. The casualties setting is what will effect the number of units you buy actually showing up.
  13. That'll teach you gamey map edge hugging bastages!
  14. A bullet fired straight up into the air has been known to come down and kill someone. That isn't theory; tragically, it has been proven. I don't know how big the "shot" is in a canister round though.
  15. I play it. It is like Axis and Allies, although I think it it quite a bit better. They found a good balance between details and playability. You could say that Combat Mission is like an improvement on the board game Squad Leader and Strategic Comand is like an improvement of the board game Axis and Allies.
  16. I haven't done programming since the days of BASIC, so that is why I'm asking the question here. Is there a programmer out there that would like to answer it? How difficult would it be to put some basic logic in the AI to have it set up barbed wire/mines between the opposing forces and the objectives? How long would it take to add this to the game?
  17. Von Lucke, that is the point I was making when I brought this subject up before as well. I don't think people are asking for a perfectly constructed defensive fortress here. I realize that having pillboxes set up with the best lines of fire is probably asking quite a bit as well. All I am asking as that some basic common sense is used. If the opposing force is coming from the west and the AI is defending the objectives in the east then it shouldn't be that hard to have the AI set up the barbed wire and mines inbetween.
  18. Rule #1 doesn't help much in a quick battle. And rule #2 is that the AI isn't very good on the attack. I'm guessing it would be easier to fix rule #1 than rule #2.
  19. One of the things I think that is really interesting about this thread is that the T-34 is almost useless against the front of the Uber-StuG but that the lowly Sherman can nail them. The next time I hear people slamming on the Sherman and heaping praise on the T-34 I'm going to bring this situation up.
  20. The 75mm Sherman can take them out at decent range. If I'm not mistaken the Sherman is available Sept. '42.
  21. They do! I was defending against a russian assault. A russian squad found one of my minefields the hard way and crawled into a nearby peasant house. A russian engineer type came over and took out the mines with a satchel charge. The funny thing about this is that the satchel charge went off close enough to demolish that little house the other squad was in! When I first watched the movie I couldn't figure out what happened to cause the house to collapse because all my units were still hidden. I had to replay it while zoomed in to figure it out. Very cool!
