  1. You could just delete the prayer wave file and replace it with Louie, Louie or something maybe. Didn't CMBO have these ambient nature sounds? I remember hearing birds. They were die hard birdies too. No matter how many arty rounds fell, they kept on singing.
  2. From the manual, page 126 Exit Before / Exit After The “Exit Before” option causes the Group to try very hard to get to the next Order before the specified time is reached. This does not mean the Group will do it, just that it will try. If it has taken excessive casualties, is immobilized or heavily engaged it may blow the set “Exit Before” time. The “Exit After” option does the opposite by telling the Group to stay at the current Map Zone until the specified time is reached. With this setting a Group never moves on to the next Order before the “Exit After” time is reached. These two options allow for some reasonable level of coordination between Groups. You can increase the “jumps” for the above settings by holding the SHIFT key while you click on the + or - buttons. So it sounds like you use them as timers to go from Order to Order across the map. I haven't really messed around with the AI plans too much. Too busy playing all the scenarios you guys are cranking out.
  3. I'm sure after some time has passed someone will open up a website(s) offering user made scenarios. I recall more than one great site back in the CMBO/BB days. These sites are great for those that prefer AI battles as opposed to getting wiped out by the Grizzled Grogs of the General Forum.
  4. Upon completing their mission Steiners' troopers say, "Up Up and AWAAAAYY!"
  5. WEGO only! Same as most everyone else, I like to observe every little skirmish as it plays out across the map. A 30 minute engagement will take me 90 minutes usually. I want to see who got a lucky shot in here or there or who is sitting on their ass even when I gave them a valid target command. You RT guys are missing all the great nuances that make up the CM series. Just stick to Company of Heroes.
  6. Yes they do. I've seen them used inside buildings. My guys kept throwing them out the window though.
  7. The Madmatt goes: What about the manual? The pdf is great to search, but I like a nice hard copy in my hands when I'm on the can. . . . wait that didn't sound right.
  8. I was thinking the same thing, but the more I read all the rants and raves, I couldn't help ordering. I already had the demo, but I wanted to experience the full-blown buggynicity that is CM:SF! I needed a close-up perspective of the scene of the accident. I also wanted to play around with the editor. I'll get the WW2 release when it comes out. At least I'll have the camera controls down by then.
  9. 1: Logically, yes this should be how it is. An M1 could roll over whatever it wants excluding buildings. There must be some coding problem with that though. Maybe sometime in the future this will work like Company of Heroes. 2: I think the dust clouds are perfect. Their behavior is very realistic. A fast moving tracked vehicle kicks up an enormous amount of dust. You will see the clouds and hear them long before you see the actual vehicle itself.
  10. I play Old School CM. Turn Based. That way I can watch all the action in replays. I hate Real Time. If I leave a squad or vehicle alone for a second and it gets wiped out, I can't rewind and see what the Hell happened. Turn-Based all the way.
  11. I guess I fit in with market predictions. Bought CMBO: loved it, played it death Bought CMBB: liked CMBO so much, I had to get the new one. Even though the setting was less desirable, I did appreciate the new features. Played it a bit. CMAK: Played the demo and got kind of burned out. The desert just didn't do it for me. Never bought CMAK. I did buy CM:SF and am learning to love it. Not too thrilled with desert setting again, but I am getting used to it. I will buy the WWII release when it comes out. I saw the Combo deal at Fry's for all three games for $19.99. Thought about getting it, but how would I spend my time?
  12. I struggled at first with the camera controls, but now I use the mouse only. It works great. My only request would be a way to slow down the scrolling speed. I jump back and forth too quickly. I do resort to the WASD keys when trying to move around/inside buildings, but I think we could use a mouse scroll slider in the options panel.

  15. One map tile = 8 meters or metres
  16. Echo . . . Echo . . . Echo That may well be the case. Low supplies or something for that Scenario. sgtgoody, I don't remember. I will try that if I notice it again. I wish CM:SF had some more helpful info. Like is a unit Buttoned or Unbuttoned? What terrain is my squad in? Arty Countdown timer. Icon data on mouseover. All games seem to have that now. Something like Hearts of Iron has. e.g. mouseover a sqaud members' rifle, see the nomenclature, effective range, etc. I never know if my guys have a weapon that fires 7.62 or not. Do I need to grab some? My ammo box is empty. They do not have an MMG, but the weapons do look different. I think they all fire 5.56mm right? Just some things that could have been included to help a brutha out.
  17. I was able to use it in Wadi Scouts, but not Dawn Patrol. My squad entered a Stryker. The Acquire button was not available. Do I need to split them? Does it have to be "their" vehicle only? Also having issues with Pop Smoke. The purple line never goes away. Any ideas? From the manual page 65: In order to use Acquire, the infantry unit has to enter the vehicle first. A pop-up window lists all available equipment which the unit is eligible to choose from. Clicking on an entry removes the equipment or ammo from the list and places it into the inventory of the passenger unit. Restrictions - only active when infantry unit is inside a valid pickup, such as inside a Stryker or BMP-1. Example - after nearly an hour of continuous combat, the infantry platoon is running out of ammo. We split the squads into teams and order them into the Strykers one by one to grab fresh ammo.
  18. Played Dawn Patrol (non-baked version last nite). Had a BLAST! Great map, nice challenge. It was ugly, but I won. I highly recommend everyone giving this one a go. Not too overwhelming, nice terrain mix. How does Acquire work? I had a Squad low on ammo, they embarked in a Stryker, but the button was not available. Can the squad get ammo from any vehicle or only "their" vehicle?
  19. 2 weeks ago? NO Now? YES No more crashes and getting familiar with it now.
  20. First my specs: Athlon XP 2800+ (NOT Dual Core) Leadtek 6600GT 128MB -- latest Driver 162.18 1 GB RAM Shuttle AN-35(N) Ultra Mobo Win XP 2 BFC eVersion of CM:SF 1.02 Prior to patching I had never completed a battle. It would always do a black screen reboot after 5-10 minutes. I eagerly installed the patch and started the game. I got a BSOD immediately with a message: NVMCP.SYS DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL After Googlizing I found this error to be the Audio Codec for my nForce onboard Audio. I updated all the nForce hardware on the board, Network, IDE and Sound. Problem solved. No crashes yet. If anyone else is using the nForce chipset on your motherboard, check it out. This could be a fix for you.
  21. The LOS thing is killing me! Or rather killing my digital troops. When I pull up behind a building how do I know if it will provide cover? It may or may not. Very frustrating to try and maneuver safely thru terrain when the game probably just sees it as a pool table.
  22. I would wait. I have not successfully finished a battle yet. It keeps crashing. I should have waited for the WW2 game. By the time a playable WW2 version of CM:SF comes out though there will probably be something out there that is ten times better or Kevin Costner will be delivering mail on horseback. How do I sell my eVersion on eBay?
  23. U.S. Army 1991 -1994 Ft. Bliss, TX C 2/1 ADA 23R HAWK Missile System Mechanic (Hawkmek) Texas Army National Guard 1994-1997 96B 49th Armored California Crossing, Irving TX Texas Army National Guard 1997-2000 96B 111th Area Support Group, Austin Texas This must be the 5th or 6th go 'round for this poll.
  24. Go to your Scenario folder and prefix the name with something. For example Scenario file Attack of the Hajiis.btt becomes Finis1_Attack of the Hajiis.btt Just prefix it with something else. your initials, date, numbering system, then they will sort together. Use XX or ZZ to put them at the bottom. this should work, right? I have not tried it yet. Oh yeah, what's with the the Outoing Files folder? No spell check on that one and it is recreated after I deleted it. Even when I created a properly named Outgoing Files folder. I noticed numerous errors in the game and the manual. With Dorosh on the crew, spelling and grammar should never have been an issue.
  25. Have your US Soldiers marched across a trench yet? That is odd looking as well. They stay perpendicular to whatever surface they are on. 90' angle on the trench walls.
