  1. A fourth Tourney by Mike and Charl? Great ! May I designate both of you with the (un-)official title: "Tourney Masters" ? Regards Marcus
  2. riptides, the picture shows a broken link only, because of its BMP format. You should convert it to GIF or JPG format prior to linking to it. This should work. Nice pic, especially the kill score of the Marder III: a Marder III. Self-kill ?? Marcus
  3. 1) "Print screen"-button 2) CTRL-C 3) "ESC"-button 4) open a paint program (like paintbrush) 5) CTRL-V 6) save the file Marcus
  4. AntiE, 1.112, 1.5 ???? Haven't heard of those! The latest (and probably final) patch is 1.12 You can grab it here: ftp://ftp.battlefront.com/pub/patches/ Marcus [ 07-23-2001: Message edited by: mike8g ]
  5. Peter Panzer, I'm at holiday at the moment, away from my computer only armed with a laptop. I'm pretty sure you won't want me to do a gunshield with a system that only has a 4 MB video card. The CM graphic is rather crappy with that. Call this a "real life" incident. Marcus
  6. Haven't heard anything from Chuckle for about a week now. Same situation with StugIII and Tincan, waiting for the last turn in both games. Marcus [ 07-18-2001: Message edited by: mike8g ]

  8. Commissar, there are discussions running to drop the system of conscription of the BW. One reason to keep the current system is the link between the armed forces and the public that it provides. This way influences from the public will find its way into the BW and the conscripts will multiply their opinion and experiences back to their families, friends etc. 2) Don't know about a tank unit, but it's true for the Navy. Three anti-air-destroyers have historic names: FGS Rommel FGS Lütjens FGS Mölders Marcus
  9. Right, my evil Überhüperdüpersturmgruppeneinheiten had no chance against MrSpkr's British - American forces mix and ran across the map like scared rabbits. Finally autosurrender due to non-existent morale.
  10. Capt Canuck, have you installed Deanco's gunmetal interface mod ? There is an error with the original version of that mod, making landmarks unreadable. (bad file: 30002.bmp) Deanco has already released a patch for this issue on his CM page. Marcus [ 07-11-2001: Message edited by: mike8g ]
  11. Fangorn, have you tried out his second email address ? stephen.hines@att.net Marcus
  12. Another Flak vehicle MOD. I've started with a Wirbelwind, based on Fernandos Panzer IV set. Marcus
  13. Cubes, IIRC, he is(or was) in hospital for surgery. He sent me this some days ago: "I will prolly be absent for a few days or more (hopefully less) so you are not waiting for a file and it wasn't sent. I will however be home today and tonight if you wan't to try to get a couple out. If not I will talk to you in a few days. von shrad"
  14. It took me longer than expected, but now it is finished. Some pics: SdKfz7/1 SdKfz7/2 HiRes version, based on the original BTS textures. Parts of Fernando's great halftrack set used with permission. An add-on will be available shortly, with gun-shields in matching camo scheme. I will send the file to Manx and Tom today. For those who can't wait, it is available on a temporary download site. URL: http://members.tripod.de/mike8g/index.html Marcus
  15. The SdKfz 7 flak wagons are nearing completition. Here's an old screenshot: I'll upload the finished version within the next minutes. Marcus
  16. Wilhammer and others: I've uploaded those gun sets to a temporarily Tripod page. URL: http://members.tripod.de/mike8g/index.html contents: two allied field gun sets two axis field gun sets one axis aa guns set Mike8g
  17. Try Lycos' photo service, it's free and even has no advertisements above the pictures (like Photopoint had) 25MB webspace for JPG pictures URL: http://photos.lycos.com/Photocenter/ Here's an example: Marcus
  18. Okay, here's one quick result: mike8g vs. Tankbuster 71 -- 29 Allied tactical victory To my other opponents: I'm out of town for two days, so next moves on Thursday. Marcus (mike8g)
  19. Most people assume that the M in US vehicle designations means "Model". Thus, the Medium Tank M4 Sherman would be the "Model #4" Medium tank. This is incorrect. The M actually stands for "Mortality" and the number represents the life expectancy of the vehicle in minutes. Thus, Shermans were rated officially at 4 minutes of survival in a combat situation, which is reflected actually in CM by having them die on turn 4. After the Sherman had been in production for some time and combat experience had been gained, it was noticed in many cases, particularly for the earlier productions runs of Shermans, that the official Mortality rating was a bit optimistic. Thus, the designation was changed to reflect the new data. This involved appending the letter A and another number to the M4 designation, the A standing for "Actually" and the number being the revised Mortality rating. For example, the M4A2 had a combat-proven life expectancy of "Actually 2" minutes. Later on, the designation got even more accurate by appending a number in parentheses and the letter W. Despite the widely held conviction that the parenthetical number was the caliber of the gun, what these symbols really meant was that the tank had a 75% or 76% chance of going WHOOSH in a big fireball when penetrated. However, some models of the Sherman were so inflammable that calculations showed they had a 105% chance of brewing up, so they just left it at that and didn't bother with the W, because they were going to WHOOSH regardless. Towards the end of the war, some Shermans gained an E and another number in their designations. The E meant "Extra Cost" and the number was a designator for the manufacturer, to ensure that company got extra money for making the tank. CM accurately reflects this by making these types of Shermans cost more to buy. Thus, the M4A3E8(76)W designation meant a tank with an official Mortality of 4 minutes, Actually 3 minutes, cost Extra, and had a 76% chance of going WHOOSH. © of this text: BULLETHEAD, posted 07/10/2000 on this forum Any questions left ????
  20. Nice story about your game, tiborhead. What about a "CM Players Wives Tourney" ???
  21. StuGIII, IIRC, Gashford has dropped out about a week ago. Marcus
  22. If you like, you can put me into a German wave, tank preferred. mike8g
  23. There's one called Adlerinsel and deals with an amphibious assault against a river island. I've played it some weeks ago and it was a thrilling excitement, since I've never played an amphibious assault before and this scenario had many surprises (good and bad ones). I finally won it, but it was tough. *** spoiler warning*** *** scenario specific info below *** * * * * * * * * * Some quick info: An Allied assault against a heavily defended river fortress guarding a vital bridge crossing. Allied forces: Crack & elite paratroopers with support units as MG, Bazooka and flamethrower Vehicles: Sherman 105, H8 HMC and a Pershing Various onboard and offboard artillery And many, many assault boats In addition to your primary task to seize the key locations, your secondary task is to clear the landing zone for your reinforcements: they'll arrive with gliders. I don't know where I d/l it, but if you don't find it anywhere, I can send it to you via email. Marcus [ 06-24-2001: Message edited by: mike8g ]
