  1. l3w53r, the plane you're looking for is the Dornier 335 "Pfeil" The Do-17 was the pre- and early-war twin engine medium bomber. [ 01-03-2002: Message edited by: mike8g ]</p>
  2. Same error message for me. BTW, this seems to be a Netscape issue, because the page loads correctly when I use IE. [ 01-03-2002: Message edited by: mike8g ]</p>
  3. This 'thing' was built by Blohm & Voss (manufacturer) and was called BV 141. The were even more uglier variants produced, with a fully armored gondola intended to be used as a ground attack plane. Some links: http://www.warbirdsresourcegroup.org/LRG/bv141.html http://biic.piranho.de/avio/PLANES/GERMANY/PLANES/Blohm_~1.htm http://www.csd.uwo.ca/~pettypi/elevon/gustin_military/db/ger/BV141BLO.html BTW, what about this seaplane prototype (BV P.111) http://members.visi.net/~djohnson/bv/bvp111.html [ 12-29-2001: Message edited by: mike8g ]</p>
  4. Something like this ? Some guys have created a whole modset and a scenario with Christmas scenery. Here's the URL: http://www.kramgo.se/cm/
  5. Even worse: They are targeting you ! Marcus
  6. He got a new URL some days ago. Try this: http://home.arcor.de/tcmhq/TCMHQ.html
  7. And don't forget the famous Coketruck convoy: [ 12-05-2001: Message edited by: mike8g ]</p>
  8. MikeyD, IIRC, there are two mods for the Nashorn/Hummel: - one mod set with monocolor, bicolor and tricolor files (although very bright in subdued terrain) - one tan/brown/green version with foliage added Marcus
  9. Silvio, I have four mods of the Marder II on my HDD: - dark green with brown patches (lo-res) - worn out grey and sand color (lo-res) - bright sand with green and brown dots (high-res) - same as above but subdued (non official, done for myself) Marcus
  10. Dogface, Warmaker & DaveT: There is(was) a graphic update for the M-24 Chaffee at Manx' www.combat-missions.net It should be available (again) when Manx has completed the transfer of his site to CMHQ. In this picture you can see an update for the M-26 Pershing, too. Sarge Saunders, This is a hires version of the M-18 Hellcat. Based on stock BTS graphics with a mch sharper star on the bow. Available at CMHQ soon (when Manx' tranfer is completed). Marcus [ 12-04-2001: Message edited by: mike8g ]</p>
  11. It took me longer than expected, but I've just finished it: The ambush scheme Jagdpanzer IV series. (Based on the great PzIV series from Fernando Carrera; textures used with permission) Optional textures included: - skirts without numbers - no front metal roadwheels (for early versions) This Mod has been sent to Madmatt's CMHQ and to Tom's CMHQ. It should be available there soon. Marcus (mike8g)
  12. Shatter, this is the current status: rear end: done rear upper hull: done lower front: done gun barrel: done side: done skirts: done upper hull: basically done, details missing upper front: basically done, details missing As you can see, the basic Ambush scheme is applied, but the details need to be re-applied. 13. <blockquote>quote:</font><hr>Originally posted by sitzkrieg: Bit of a literal translation problem methinks? <hr></blockquote> Hehe, good one. Wish it were that easy. In fact, the article sounds even worse in German language. BTW, the author stated that he was really busy that month with testing dozens of new games. I guess he expected CM to be a WW2-shooter Marcus
  14. This is what another German magazine wrote about CM ************************************************* "PCA" review of Combat Mission: Either on the Allied or the Axis side you take part in this turn-based strategy game and fight historic battles like the battle for the bridge at Arnheim. Neither the rotateable 3d graphics nor the boring playing principle can convince. As long as you don't belong to those human, who rebuild historic battles at home with tin soldiers, you can keep your hands away from this humorless Combat Mission. Graphics: 55% Sound: 60% Multiplayer: 47% Single player: 45% ************************************************* I guess the whole review was done within minutes. Anyhow, they're not my favorite magazine anymore... Marcus [ 11-19-2001: Message edited by: mike8g ]</p>
  15. Here are some Military museums in reasonable range from Stuttgart: - Museum Sinsheim (88 kilometers away from Stuttgart) - Wehrtechnische Studiensammlung in Koblenz (276 kilometers) Details for both museum can be found at www.jagdtiger.de Here's a pic from that site: Marcus [ 11-18-2001: Message edited by: mike8g ]</p>
  16. bfamily, Stingray and all the others: Tom's site seems to be down at the moment. Anyhow, I've uploaded the file to some of my unused Geocities server space, so you can download it from there. The URL is: http://www.geocities.com/mike8g/hetzer_by_tom.zip Important !! Clicking the link above WON'T work. You'll have to cut & paste (or manually type it) into a new browser window. Geocities prevents external linking. Marcus [ 11-09-2001: Message edited by: mike8g ]</p>
  17. Shatter, here's an update: rear end: done rear upper hull: done lower front: done gun barrel: done side: basically done, some details missing skirts: basically done, few details missing upper hull: to be done upper front: to be done @JAK: 2cm gun shield nearing completetion, 37mm following Marcus
  18. © of this text: BULLETHEAD, posted 07/10/2000 on this forum You've discovered a little-known WW2 tank-grog thing here that BTS. in its search for the ultimate in realism, has modeled in CM. I've been waiting to see if anybody else noticed this. Most people assume that the M in US vehicle designations means "Model". Thus, the Medium Tank M4 Sherman would be the "Model #4" Medium tank. This is incorrect. The M actually stands for "Mortality" and the number represents the life expectancy of the vehicle in minutes. Thus, Shermans were rated officially at 4 minutes of survival in a combat situation, which is reflected actually in CM by having them die on turn 4. After the Sherman had been in production for some time and combat experience had been gained, it was noticed in many cases, particularly for the earlier productions runs of Shermans, that the official Mortality rating was a bit optimistic. Thus, the designation was changed to reflect the new data. This involved appending the letter A and another number to the M4 designation, the A standing for "Actually" and the number being the revised Mortality rating. For example, the M4A2 had a combat-proven life expectancy of "Actually 2" minutes. Later on, the designation got even more accurate by appending a number in parentheses and the letter W. Despite the widely held conviction that the parenthetical number was the caliber of the gun, what these symbols really meant was that the tank had a 75% or 76% chance of going WHOOSH in a big fireball when penetrated. However, some models of the Sherman were so inflammable that calculations showed they had a 105% chance of brewing up, so they just left it at that and didn't bother with the W, because they were going to WHOOSH regardless. Towards the end of the war, some Shermans gained an E and another number in their designations. The E meant "Extra Cost" and the number was a designator for the manufacturer, to ensure that company got extra money for making the tank. CM accurately reflects this by making these types of Shermans cost more to buy. Thus, the M4A3E8(76)W designation meant a tank with an official Mortality of 4 minutes, Actually 3 minutes, cost Extra, and had a 76% chance of going WHOOSH.
  19. Ligur, have a look here: Manx' Combat Missions http://www.combat-missions.net/ Tom's CMHQ http://home.nexgo.de/tcmhq/TCMHQ.html They should have magua's halftracks and my TD mod (based on Mike Duplessis TDs): Marcus
  20. ",da man..." should be correctly translated as: ",because someone.." Marcus
  21. Here's the full description of 'their' work: (my comments in brackets) Highres textures for snow and grass. Highres textures for the forest ground in decent colors. More realistic colors for autumn trees. New highres trees. Highres buildings with 3D effects on the walls. (Panzertruppen) New camouflage patterns for kingtiger and other vehicles. Photorealistic skies. (Surlyben) More attractive explosions and fires. (not shown, but I guess it's JuJu's) Complete set of winter camouflage vehicles. Sample missions, that show the new effects.
  22. They even try to sell 'their' stuff via ebay: http://cgi.ebay.de/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1292317262 This is in addition to their Webshop, where they want around $20 for the CD. This is what I've identified so far: Summer picture: Kingtiger: Gordon Molek Sky graphics: Ben "Surlyben" Bittner Winter picture: Tiger: John "Tiger" S. Kingtiger: Fernando Carrera Buildings: Don "Panzertruppen" Maddox What a shame. Never thought somebody would even think about doing this. Obviously I was very wrong. Marcus
  23. @PETER PANZER Just for your information, I do not have a contract with you or anybody else to deliver CM mods in any form of time schedule. I do this deliberately and for my own pleasure and others who like it. I do, however, take myself the right to change my plans or workschedule when I feel it is necessary. Due to other projects, like M18, M24, M26, Wirbelwind, Ostwind, M10, M36,Wolverine and Achilles the gun shield was again postponed. Instead of whining, perhaps you should use your time and efforts to create a gun shield on your own, errrr -stop- that gives me an idea: Offical anouncement (not to be taken too seriously, except for one person, hehe) Because of (fill in excuse #1) and due to (excuse #2), especially (excuse #3) the project "37mm gun shield" is hereby stopped and will not be continued by mike8g. But I'm happy to present you a solution: Another guy has stepped forward and will be very happy to continue the project under his name, so he can prove his talents to the community. Please be so kind and give PETER PANZER all possible support to finish the project. @JAK Don't worry, you will get your copy from me, I'll send it via email (around next weekend). Marcus
