  1. Agreed, but I've known people who do this, and don't think it's cheating... I've watched them cheat like this first hand... Needless to say, I don't play PBEM with them, and luckily I don't game with them anymore at all... Aloid
  2. Hey Jolly, I'm in for that! Would be interesting if files were somehow controlled by a central site, and the game pulled from that site, keeping track of "how many" times the file got pulled. If the game can only access it once, it would remove this non-sense. BFC could be that source site... Hubert, is that in your bag of tricks? Aloid
  3. Oh sure Scott... dangle those tasty bits in front of our faces, 'eh... Are you allowed to post a screenie? My subscription my hang in the balance! BTW, I enjoy your reviews. Aloid
  4. I'm going to be sick edit: and go to sleep ST, you need it... Aloid [ July 27, 2002, 05:15 AM: Message edited by: Aloid ]

  6. Please, the wait is getting un-bare-able... Why not lift the kilt a little bit... Throw your hungry throng a bone! (okay, the gold demo counts, but we're greedy bastards!!) An "interesting" screenie (of the game Super Ted) will do... Aloid

  8. Hubert has posted in the past that Russia gets a part of their MPP's. I think it might even have a sliding scale over time as well, but I could be making that part up Aloid
  9. You are wise 'ol Straha... And in this case even correct! My history teacher was the type who looked outside of the text for more interesting materials. He must have been a wargamer, as he used to tell jokes about the Italian Army in WW2. Ha! Aloid
  10. This is timely, as I'm reading "When Titans Clashed". It seems like Stalin wanted peace at all costs, while his staff wanted a pre-emptive strike. The Soviet setup along the boarder is a puzzle, as they did load up the front line, but did not make the strike they were setup for. I like the Soviet threat in the game. If you build slowly on the Eastern front as the German's, you can hold off their invasion. This seems okay to me. I've been able to keep them at bay while invading England... then I hit the "end of demo" bug... Aloid
  11. I learned all this stuff in High School... but then again, I actually liked my History class!! Also, I graduated in 1979... so perhaps things have changed... My two boys will have played plenty of war games, and the like, by the time they get to high school. I consider it part of their education!!! I also get opponents to play with!! So, there is a reason for having kids after all! Aloid
  12. I was just doing that very thing last night (way past my bed time of course), when I hit that damn end of demo bug again! I managed to pull off the best SeaLion to date, with enormous loss of life for many "decoy" transport units... Oh well... hope Hubert fixes that EOD bug soon! Aloid
  13. Hi RD, If your ISP gives you space to post files (web pages, etc.), then it's pretty easy, with some practice. If they do, there should be a FAQ on doing it. Once that's done, post a message, click on the "UBB Code is enabled" link to the left. It will show you how to point to the picture from within the post. An Old Man, I see on Otto's site that JBulldog has started some detailed work on tank units... Let's hope he finishes it! Enjoy! Aloid

  15. Here's a little smorgasbord of unit mods I put together. Right up front, I did not put much work into this, other than cut, paste and a color change here and ther. The guys who did it get ALL the credit. Wolfe's Tank Mod [by Chris "Wolfe" Hare] (tanks with dots) Jorgen's Symbol Mod [by Jorgen Cab] (Infantry, rocket & HQ) Camicie Nere Mod [by Camicie Nere] (Air & Ship) Excellent work guys! Guys (Wolfe, Jorgen, Camicie), I need your okay to have Otto post this (assuming anyone wants it). If people like it, I'll update it with the latest chnges by the authors, and I plan to add some depth to the flat counters. Also, I need to fiddle with the strength numbers so I can show more of Camicie's amazing aircraft!! (sorry the next pic is so big... jpg was being unfreindly to the colors) Aloid

  17. Hmm, this amounts to the option of setting FOW on/off seperately for both sides so that we have four settings. Would be nice, indeed! Choosing an asymmetrical setting could be interesting in case of an experienced player vs. beginner. Straha</font>
  18. A post way back in the dark, fuzzy, time of the beta demo, some one posted that rockets become real effective at higher tech levels. I think these are intended to cost you a lot before you get anywhere with them. Never use them myself... Aloid
  19. Wow! I should get up to go pee more often... This is great work!! Sneak in some more early AM tidbits as often as you can, they are great! Aloid
  20. Now that hits below the belt! I've only recited one scene from Monty Python and The Holy Grail all day... That does not make me a geek... I'm certainly not a card carrying grog either... I can't be a greek, just because... So I must be a geog... <retch> On second though, "Albatross!"... There, I've done it... Aloid
  21. Remember gorski, they are all working on that secret project... A little bird told me they are adding night and day turns, with nice sun-rise and sunset effects... for a two level effect, and a path running down the middle... a path path!! Aloid

  23. This is a nice way to reflect accumulated research over time. I'm wondering if SC should also require continued investment each turn to go along with it. Right now, the current process works for me. It gives a different out come each game, which will be needed to help extend the lifespan of this game. It would be a nice thing to enhance for a patch or SC2. Aloid I really think I beat out Alley Cat for that first order...
  24. Hubert said that he found a bug, which makes the air power weaker than it should have... He's fixing it, and making a few other "changes"... Aloid <== wants full version
