  1. Hey goober, just set a TV next to your computer, and run your favorite war movie, while playing... That's a kick... though not exactly what you asked for... Aloid
  2. mincks must be a plant from another game developer. His arguments are too shallow for anyone who doesn't have an alterior motive... Perhaps I'm wrong... if so, then I fear for the human race... or atleast the circle of humanity that comes in contact with mincks... Aloid
  3. HEHEHEHEHE.........You ever been dug in and had Tanks come at you.......THE HOLE AIN'T DEEP ENOUGH!!!</font>
  4. Taunting? You mean there's a good taunting to be had!??!?!?! Titan... you better step up the taunting!! (while you're sinking the pride of the Axis Navy!!) You swine!! Aloid
  5. Just curious how you came to this conclusion. Historically, France had a formidable army. Their loss in 1940 was due as much to poor leadership as any inherent weakness in their strategic position. Does anyone else care to comment on this?</font>
  6. Got it.. Looking forward to your update! Aloid
  7. Excellent! More of a good thing! Aloid
  8. At +1 France will most certainly fall (as it should). I've held on a for a good long while, and I'm sure some here have held completely. Anyway, the point is, just hold on, and think big picture. Delay the Axis as much as you can, and hope that Russia comes in and holds the Axis until the US joins the party. Invest in industrial tech, and keep grinding away at them. France is just too weak, in general to hold out... Aloid
  9. Hey JB, I have never really been into the army men icon used for infantry. I've put Jorgen's infantry, HQ, and rockets on your unit_sprites. I've modified Jorgen's units to fit the color scheme you have, and have made them bigger to fit the same foot print as your icons. It looks great (IMO), and I've given it to a couple people. I was thinking that the German unit background is too light (or the wrong color), as the aircraft seem to disappear in the "counter". They need to stick out more (IMO). I truely love what you've done, and look forward to your updates!! Hope you don't mind my tweeks! Aloid [ August 16, 2002, 01:05 PM: Message edited by: Aloid ]
  10. From beta to gold, this game has been deftly guided. I'm new to PBEM, and can't see having gone gold without the replay. Now, I'd just like a button for watching it again. It would help me get around the perfectly planned psychological attack by the wife, just at the moment the replay starts! Having fun! Aloid
  11. +1 is a good level to play at. A challenge, but not crazy like +2... Besides, as I've said before... SuperTed said so! Aloid (Whatever happened to SuperTed anyway?)
  12. Heh! Research Industrial tech immediately, and with everything you can from the start. Get 3-5 points into it early early early... without this, forget it, as you'll never compete at +2. Aloid
  13. I hear the castles are nice this time of year... If Hubert adds political ramifications (eeew big word), then perhaps we'll get to see Irish partisans as well! Aloid [ August 15, 2002, 01:33 PM: Message edited by: Aloid ]
  14. That's exactly it. Once you do it, it's VERY simple. Explaining it so someone does not get lost, is the hard part. Don't let the volume of words turn you away... Actually, that's a silly statement to someone as voluminous in vocabulary as yourself! If you want, I'll send you my mix. I've been updating Jorgens infantry so they match the other new units (which are slightly bigger by the way). Aloid
  15. They have these chairs now, with funny little wheels on the legs... Get two of these and choose a hot-seat game... Aloid
  16. Immer, hope this works for you! I’ll try to stay concise… (but it got long anyway) === Part one: placing files === 1. Using “My Computer” (File Manager, MS exploder) 2. Create or use an existing temporary folder (any name will do) for the following: 3. Unzip only one of the modded unit_sprit files into this folder. 4. Rename the unit_sprites.bmp to something unique (ex. JC_unit_sprites.bmp) 5. Repeat the process of unzipping each mod and renaming the unit_sprites.bmp file, until all are done, and all are uniquely named. === Part two: using MS paint to do simple mix/match/edit === 1. Double click on one of the newly named unit_sprites.bmp files. 2. This should bring up the Windows “paint” program… if it does not… it may give you a list of programs to open the file with. Pick “Microsoft Paint” 3. If you still don’t have the file open … I may not be able to help via this forum. 4. If a different program comes up… close the one that’s open 5. Right click on the file, and select “open with” and “choose program”, which will give you a list. Pick “Microsoft Paint” 6. If you have the MS Paint program up for the file, then you are in business 7. Repeat the above until all of the unit sprite files are open. (you should have each on accessible via the tray at the bottom or side of your screen (depending on your machine) === Part three: editing === (The follwoing is done while in MS Paint) 1. look at each unit sprites file, and pick the one with the most unit icons that you want to keep. 2. This will be the file you edit, so do a “save-as” (file/save as) and give it a name like unit_sprites_work.bmp. The fun part!!! 3. Goto one of the files you want to copy units from. 4. Click on the dotted-line rectangle (select) just below the word “edit” on the menu bar. 5. Slide your cursor over the units and it will look like a cross. 6. It is probably a good idea to also click “View” then “Custom” then 200% from the menu bar, to get a better look at what you will be copying. 7. Now, position the cross-cursor at one corner of a unit (or group of units), click-and-drag the select box around you victim. You’ll see the select box you are creating. 8. Important to notice that the box size will snap/adjust to the pixel size. Be sure not to grab too much or too little. Once you have the selection you want… 9. Select “Edit” then “Copy” from the menu. 10. Switch to the “work” file where we’ll paste the units. 11. Select “Edit” and “Paste”. 12. The pasted selection may look out of place!!!!! 13. The dotted box should still be there. Put your cursor over it, and click-drag to move the box to where you want to see the units “land” in the file. Pay attention to the pink X’s, which set the boundary for the unit icon. 14. Once all is in place (aligned), click somewhere outside the box to “fix” the pasted selection in place. 15. If you make a mistake, there is an “Undo” function in the “Edit” menu option. 16. Play around with it. You’re not going to hurt anything. 17. Fool around with the “pick color”, “fill color”, “pencil”, and other tools below the dotted box (select) tool. 18. Save the work file every once in a while, in case you really mess things up. It’s a good idea to do this after a good pasting (ha!) You can always reload it. Have fun!! Aloid
  17. I still can't do the "little army men" thing, so I've got jmbunnelle's new tanks and planes, along with Jorgen's infantry and rockets... looks great to me! I'm changing the back grounds on the infantry to match JMB's great work. You guys are masters! Aloid
  18. I just thought of that line in the movie "Battle of Britain", where Dowding says he's "trusting in God, and praying for radar"... Sounds like my games in SC!! heh! I think Hubert got it right after all! Aloid (praying for that next tech level)
  19. I've suggested this before as well... (so I totally agree with it) The Germans were never able to fill their ranks quickly with new hardware. They never had Me 262's in every fighter unit, over night. While I would agree that the game is at such a high level, that it's really representing an overall improvement in many weapon systems per unit, there is not enough investment (or cost per unit) to reflect how hard it was to convert to the new tech achieved. Great game though! Aloid
  20. Uh Oh, I've wet myself... My gawd, that looks great! Aloid "... and go and change your armor..."
  21. Immer, drink more beer! Works for me... now I can't win a game... or even find it... Aloid
  22. ... can't speak... can't (hardly) type... ... must play... ... invade... bomb... destroy... lose U-29 to Titan (sniff)... ...just...one...more...turn... Aloid (not here as much, cause I'm playing...)
  23. Yippie!! Now go bomb something!! Enjoy! Aloid
