  1. The answer is simple... If you don't like the thread, skip it. Some people suck, and you don't need to give them propaganda. Those offended need to grow up. This world is full of strange people, as a famous jerk once said, "can't we all just... get along?". The internet is a great thing... the sharing of ideas, or even reading flames from others, may give the more enlightened a better perspective on life, and perhaps after this interaction, this is the only way we'll ever "get along". 2. Hell, this is easy. I like to play games that take thinking, and the Germans have all the best pieces! Most people don't understand how horrendous warfare really is. NOBODY who's been there wants to be there again. If they do, they are certainly on crack (or some such). Aloid
  3. Ah, finally! Hey thanks guys, this is a real winner! My resolution is changing automatically, back & forth from my regular desk top res (800 x 600) to the game res (1600 x 1200). Hands free! Thanks again! Aloid
  4. Hey Dietz, and anyone else waiting for the game... Get some sleep; as much as you can; while you can! You'll be glad you did! Aloid
  5. Oh hell, there goes the neighborhood, when any one can assimilate anyone else, where will it all end (like this sentence). Trix, that same scenario did it for me as well, but it was entirely different as the US on Full Fog. Much much fun! Aloid
  6. I ordered it via credit card last Tuesday night, and had it on Friday, just in time for the weekend! By Saturday night, the neighbors had snipers on their roof waiting for me to go outside so they could take me out. Seems the sounds of artillery fire is an acquired taste. By now I've been so fully assimilated, that the other day I was adjusting the fields of fire on my sprinkers! heh! 7. I think the typical definition of mechanized is when an infantry unit and all it's assets have some form of transportation, as part of the standard unit organization. I guess that's why I ended up with a bunch of trucks in the second scenario of the "Day in the life of the Cavalry Operation". I just started the scenario, and I hope the trucks don't have Firestone ATX tires. Would hate to have an accident while racing the trucks through the town (heh!). Can you say (way) forward observer, I know they can! Aloid
  8. Thanks, I was affraid of that. We must make small sacrifices sometimes. No biggie. Aloid
  9. Thanks to the MANY posts about changing resolution, I fired up the game at 1600 x 1200, with no problem. The config file was recreated by the game, so the game looks great. I don't want to keep my regular windows resolution set that high, but when I change it back to 800 x 600, the game tries to reset itself to 800 x 600 as well. Is there a way to get CM to remember the old resolution and use it? (This is a pain) Thanks, Aloid
  10. Wow, I think we'll need a splattered-remains-of-crew graphic for that one! If not, the game is most certainly ruined, heh! I can't imagine that every through and through would do this, but certainly some ordinance would. I would assume as well, that the more lethal ordinance is modeled to kill everyone inside, though not in such splendid detail. Aloid
  11. Yes Actor, but on the lighter side, it's amazing how hillarious it is to watch, from ground level, those pesky Germans getting shelled by your 105's as they run for dear life. BANG!!!! CRASH!!! BOOM!!!! SHAKE, SHAKE... Got to love it! Aloid <== laughing like a mad man; wife does not understand (what else is new)
  12. Makes your heart go pitter patter, doesn't it? Aloid
  13. ... playing too much CM when... You wake up two hours late for work, and realize that "GO" button you were pushing in your dreams was really the snooze button (every ten minutes)... heh! Aloid
  14. Sigh, I hear you Jay... I spent a great deal of my weekend, well, the hours I could spare after my wife and 2.5 year old went to sleep, playing the demo. I too had to let fly with the credit card today. I am one with the collective... Aloid
  15. Oh hell... just when I thought I could recapture some normal sleep I get magazines giving rave reviews for something called CM. AND, I get a CD with the demo, so no hassle downloading on a 56K modem. I know there is a conspiracy in here somewhere! NOW, I've been playing the demo, losing sleep, catching up on discussion threads here. I may completely stop playing Shogun Total War, and I'm regretting my advance purchase of Space Empires IV. Is there any reason not to succumb to this assimilation? I'm done, I'm toast, my marriage is in dire jeopardy. Let me introduce myself, my name is Aloid, and I have a gaming problem. It started with Dogfight, lead to Richtofen's War, ran through the classics (Terrible Swift Sword, Atlantic Wall (Crawl), the entire GDW Europa series, and bled into an Apple II+... etc. I'm soon to be 40, and I recently found myself laughing histerically as I watched the occupants of hill 509 (502?) get the $hit shelled out of them by some 105s. Gawd that was beautiful!! I assume you all feel my pain!?!?! Heh! Aloid
