  1. I think Matt wants the Pacific Theater and he is pushing for it, but I would think that it will have to wait its turn until all the other planned CM theaters are done, if ever.
  2. Jim, there are those new M110s too. Oh, sorry if I ruined it for you.
  3. Here is the link to his website: http://www.geocities.com/robisme_canada/RobsCMCINDEX.html It has a link to his e-mail address.
  4. I think you should get in touch with Rob/1 on this forum. He is 15 and is also Canadian.
  5. Thanks for the replies. I had never seen it happen in CM before, so it surprised me.
  6. A Tiger was firing at a HT with its machine gun and the HT suddenly burst into flames. I had several other Tigers nearby, and none of them, including the one shooting at the HT, was reloading its gun after the explosion, so I know none of my tanks fired a round. There was no friendly infantry in the area, so it wasn't a faust or schrek. I realize that in the real world the HT's fuel tank may have been hit, but is it possilble for MG fire to cause a HT to explode?
  7. AFIK, each man would carry a shelter quarter. When four of them were attached they would form a tent. I think they were worn as camo when not used for shelter.
  8. Croda: Wistah? Isn't it spelled Wooster? Or is it Worcester? Something to think about while you're riding the T to Quinzy. Or is that Quincy? I graduated Tufts in '90 and haven't been back since, but I hear my tuition bought a nice new library. Can anyone tell me why the Store 24 in Davis Square closes at 11pm?
  9. Ah, Sumahville. I worked at Espresso's Pizza when I went to Tufts. That was in Medfid.
  10. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Jeff Heidman: Why do i get the feeling someone coded that thing and then decided it was going to be used, regardless of whether it made sense? <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Because Matt or someone at BTS told us so. I think that was precisely the reason it's in the game.
  11. Um, January 2001 is only a few weeks away. I'm pretty sure we can find something to keep us occupied until then.
  12. I don't know whether scout vehicles or halftracks should be given the ability to hunt, but I believe the reason they can't hunt is because they don't have main guns like a tank or AC. AFIK, vehicles that have a MG as their heaviest armament can't hunt in CM.
  13. Deanco, your tanks can only be hull down realtive to a target. So, while you can set up a tank in a hull down position in advance of hostilities, you won't get the words "Hull Down" until you target an enemy vehicle. When you target the enemy vehicle you will see "Hull Down" over YOUR tank if you really are in a hull down position. Before version 1.1 you would see Hull Down over both tanks, but this has been fixed. And it would definitely help in you play in realistic scale. Just turn the bases on so you don't lose track of your units. You can turn the bases off when you watch the movie if you want to.
  14. Thanks Marco. ME was free for me because it was included as a free upgrade when I bought my computer. Dell just released the upgrade to it clients now because they had to make sure their systems were compatible and to compile all the necessary drivers. What I am hoping to accomplish, if I do upgrade, is to eliminate the shut down problem and to take advantage of the faster startup time ME supposedly has. Do you find that your system starts up faster now?
  15. Order it here: http://www.battlefront.com/products/worldwar/cm/cm_order.html Now!!!
  16. Thanks, that is what I have heard, which is why I have reservations about upgrading.
  17. I purchased a Dell PIII933 with Win98 SE a few months ago. Today I received my free upgrade to ME along with what appear to be all the necessary drivers. Is it worth the upgrade or should I leave my system alone? The only problem I experience with my computer is that it often fails to shut down properly, which I have read is a known problem with Win98. I'd like to fix or do somefink.
  18. Does your mom even read this forum? Or does she only read the soon to be padlocked threads?
  19. Steve, you would know better than I, but isn't that a Sturmtiger? Even if it isn't, someone was obliged to bring up the Sturmtiger once the Brumbar was mentioned.
  20. Thermopylae, you pointed out what I also noticed: MG pillboxes use up ammo at a rate three times higher than a MG team because there are three MGs in the pillbox. I have seen the ammo count reduced by three for each burst, although I don't know if that is always the rate of fire in CM. How many boxes of ammo can a Heavy MG42 team carry? My guess is two boxes per man, excluding the guy carrying the gun. So that's 10 boxes of ammo per team. I would think that a pillbox large enough to accomodate three MG42s could hold more than 30 boxes of ammo. All of this is based on assumption and not on fact. I play CM for fun and don't analyze every aspect of the game; however, I don't think a pillbox should run out of ammo in a 30 minute engagement, unless of course that was what happened historically. The point of this thread was that pillboxes become abandoned and count as destroyed by the enemy when they run out of ammo. Either the enemy shouldn't get those victory points or the pillboxes should get more ammo so that they don't abandon so early. Either way, it doesn't seem right the way it is.
  21. Seanachai, you are right. I never even noticed that MG ammo was indicated in the detail screen for AFVs. [whine]But I still want more bullets for my pillboxes!!![/whine]
  22. OGSF, you are right about what LOW ammo means in CM, but maybe a pillbox would conserve ammo as its supply ran low, and this could be modeled with the LOW ammo designation. And yes, the MG42 had a voracious appetite for ammo, but wouldn't a pillbox have a pretty good supply? A heavy MG42 has 95 points of ammo and a pillbox has 3 MG42s with 250 points combined. Three MG42 teams have more ammo than a pillbox. Like I said, I don't know how much ammo a pillbox had historically, but I don't think they would go through all the trouble to construct one only to have it overrun because it ran out of ammo after 30 minutes. A pillbox shouldn't have unlimited ammo, but if the LOW ammo isn't appropriate, maybe the max ammo should be increased to 500 or somefink. Also, a tank in CM never runs out of MG ammo (as far as I know). I think a pillbox would have a much greater supply of MG ammo than a tank would. [This message has been edited by Pvt. 23. I would like to see the maximum ammo for MG pillboxes increased beyond 250. I don't know how much ammo was historically stored in one of those things, but I don't think they would have run out in a 30 minute battle. Perhaps their ammo should run LOW instead of running out completely. That way they can continue to fire occasionally and don't abandon their positions. I made an Omaha beach scenario in which the Americans easily advance once the pillboxes run out of ammo.
  24. I played a QB against the computer last night to check out the effectiveness of FBs since I never buy them. I set up the American forces on their edge of the map and let them sit there as the turns went by. I had 4 veteran US FBs. The first one dropped its bombs on what turned out to be a German HT (after the game ended the enemy units were revealed). It passed a couple more times firing its guns. The next FB fired rockets at pretty much the same spot. Then the next FB dropped its bombs on my troops, which were still as far away from the enemy as possible. It was a small map, but with the number of points, the map was still pretty big with a huge hill separating the forces. The planes strafed the enemy a few times and finally the last FB showed up and fired its rockets at my troops. So, 50% of the veteran FBs fired their main weapons at my troops and did a heck of a lot more damage to them than they did to the enemy.
