ATI left click issue final fix.
Sitting Duck replied to MikoyanPT's topic in Combat Mission: Shock Force Tech Support
Still no joy. Playing Al Huqf Engagement. Game just grinds whenever I select the vehicle. I can unload the command unit from the vehicle, but I cannot reload the vehicle during the setup phase. Everytime my mouse gets near it, performance drops to zero and all I can do is move my mouse away. I also notice that I have men in the jumping jack formation during set up. The setup of this scenario worked fine before 1.06. I'm trying some more stuff. -

No joy. Game is still unplayable. Will have to begin in-depth troubleshooting tomorrow. It's always something. -

Would love to see a grid overlay...

I like WEGO because I like the replay. Not just because it helps digest what happened, but also because I like the "movie" for it's entertainment value. WEGO gives the only movie option around - even if it's only 60 seconds and I only get my point-of-view. I think BF.C missed the boat by not including the capability to fully replay an entire game in God Mode (everything visible). Yah, 1:1 is nice (in theory), but if they had spent that time working out the "God Mode Movie" (GMM), I think they would have had a winner. Many battles have a few crucial moments in them, and having the ability to save/share those moments via some format would have made CMx2 the "killer app" in this genre. Don't get me wrong, I'm not unhappy with my purchase and I don't begrudge BF.C my $70 (deluxe version), but I confess that I'm not as delighted with CMx2 as I was when I started playing CMx1. There was certainly some amount of disappointment with the bugs, but I know BF.C will eventually make that good. But I had hoped we'd see something a little more revolutionary...and the ability to replay an entire game with everything visible would have spun everything around. S'Ok.

When should we start refreshing for 1.05
Sitting Duck replied to thewood's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
Blu-Ray (and normal) DVD Movies. I've had my PS3 for about a year now. It works nicely as a movie player. A recent software upgrade also allows you to up-convert normal DVD's to 1080p. You can use the game interface or spend $19 for a dedicated DVD remote. I have a Samsung BD player in the bedroom that does the same as the PS3, but cost more and can't play any games. -
Mmmm...maybe I'm thinking about a different scenario. The vehicles that I had as the blue player were BMP's, not Hummers. Sorry if I got that wrong! Carry on!
-
Yup. The vehicles can take out the buildings very quickly and you have a lot of them (6 or so, right?). This goes back a bit, but I think the game can actually go beyond the alloted time. Ease your troops along the left hill along the road - but be careful about exposing them too close to the town or they'll be cut to ribbons. Place a couple of vehicles to the left of the road and bring them forward over a couple of turns. Pound the buildings to rubble.
-
I'm trying to remember this one... IIRC, I dismounted the troops and brought them and the vehicles forward on the hill *just* enough to start pounding the furthest buildings. I edge forward turn-by-turn taking out the buildings until just a few turns remain. I raced one vehicle down the road and turned 180* to cover the advancing troops. I then quickly moved the troops to the main entrance of the town, and then hunted forward into the town, gunning down stragglers from time to time. I used the Elite setting.

Suggestion for map editor: Graphic files as overlays

Maybe. Is there a Google Earth-like resource for 1939-45? -
Supply option in the edior...
Sitting Duck replied to Pandur's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
It works to a point. You're trading one element (supply) for another (troop quality). "Sir, if you want a full tank of gas, you'll need to buy a Ferrari instead of that Ford. Our Fords only come with one-quarter tank of fuel." -
BTW - it seems to me that 8 vehicles <> "Tiny QB"
-
Nope. Creating CMMods account now...
-
I'm trying to play a QB with a "Tiny" force and I keep getting 8+ strykers... I'm looking for battles with maybe 1 vehicle...

What's your frame rate?
Sitting Duck replied to Sitting Duck's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
No. Do you think it would make a difference for this test? Do you think it would make a difference in normal use? I have 512MB of VRAM on the card...what does the aperture size have to do with video performance? -
What's your frame rate?
Sitting Duck replied to Sitting Duck's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
I'm now up to 58 FPS! That's about a 10x improvement over where I was initially. Good job! -

I'm not using best/best. I'm using fastest/fastest... I listed the settings that I'm using for comparison purposes in my first post. Here are my CMSF settings: CMSF Options: Display: 1024x768 Vert Synch: Off 3D Model: Fastest 3D Texture: Fastest Anti-Alias: On High Priority: Off ATI Left-click: Off -
I think you've made a good point.
