Windows Pre-Order done. I 'spose I'll need to order both a Windows and Mac version? I have a Windows desktop and a MacBook Pro for travel. I guess I could use VMWare, but I'd rather go native. You guys considering any license deals for that? :-)

No post from Steve for 2 days ...
Sitting Duck replied to scottie's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Well...might depend on which of Neptune's moons you choose to determine the "Neptunian month." I quick check of Wikipedia shows: The shortest "Neptunian month" would be ~8 Earth hours (Naiad). The longest "Neptunian month" would be ~25 Earth years (Neso). A "Neptunian month" based on the orbit of Triton (probably the most famous of Neptune's moons) would be a little under 6 Earth days. I hope we're not waiting for the longer period months... -

Show Us The New Quick Battle Please
Sitting Duck replied to MeatEtr's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
I don't post very often on this forum - but I read a lot (lurker)...more in the past 4 months or so. Hell, my sig comes from a comment Steve made back when Florida voters taught the world that chads could indeed hang. Anyway... Is is just me or is the tone around here sometimes a little...negative? It's kind of like the way a (0:30) will bicker with their pack mates when they start smelling food. Just don't be here long when the shows up to take your food (or whatever the hell it wants)... Actually, I just used this post as an excuse to bring up and find out if they'll be in the game (0:45 or so ? cool vid to watch all the way, Hetzer at the end!). I'm kidding... I'll go back to sitting...<quack> -

Are these features in?
Sitting Duck replied to Destraex1's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
It seems that a company suffering losses during a campaign would have both "green" troops (replacements) and "experienced" troops (survivors). The relative mix green/experienced troops could probably be modeled in a campaign based on casualty rates, but perhaps not the individual results. Just a guess... -

CM:N Safe to say 2011?
Sitting Duck replied to Tactical Wargamer's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
Ah, but the hours that will be spent discussing and debating the point! Now that your game has returned to the WW2 era, I am expecting to see a lot more of these threads. Let the flow minutia begin!!!! -
CM:N Safe to say 2011?
Sitting Duck replied to Tactical Wargamer's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
I'm not a tax preparer, so I won't be busy because of that. BTW, my reasoning on the date is that I figure the guys will get most of the CM:N preparation done this year, but they'll want to take just a bit more time to get the final polishing done. I'd guess that time is pretty tight for that in 2010, so why not just wait until after taking a nice end-of-year Holiday break? Get done what you can without a terrible crunch, enjoy the Holidays and then come back after your batteries are re-charged with fresh energy... And as I mentioned earlier, pushing the release into next year might have some positive tax consequences (depends). FWIW - as a software developer, I hate releasing code on Friday. As a rule I'd rather not release new code just before a weekend. So, maybe January 31 (Monday) is a better guess. :-) -
CM:N Safe to say 2011?
Sitting Duck replied to Tactical Wargamer's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
I would answer this question as Yes. What about a thread where the community guesses the official release date? Some big prize to anyone that gets it right. I'll go with January 28, 2011 -
CM:N Safe to say 2011?
Sitting Duck replied to Tactical Wargamer's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
There might be tax advantages to delay the release until after the new calendar year. Depends on a couple of things... -
Just wondering if this treacherous type of terrain is modeled? Lesson Learned: assaulting across a canal trap would have disastrous results.

CM: Normandy Synopsis & Posts
Sitting Duck replied to WineCape's topic in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
Being that there are only ~14 weeks left in 2010 (!!!), it might be more accurate to delete the 09 and insert 11. Hope it comes sooner, but I'd rather wait until they are satisfied it is ready. I've been waiting a LONG time for this release already, and I'm OK to wait as long as it takes to get it right. -
I think that if the decision makers at Battlefront were actually motivated to resolve these 3 issues for CM, then they would find a creative way to do it. But, as long as the important people are happy with how it's being done and making enough money, why take the risk?

Hello - I hope someone can point me in the right direction... I'm looking for CMSF (base game) scenarios with small force sizes for AI play. I've visited the Repository, but the force size does not appear to be available in the list view or as a filter. Is there a spreadsheet or some other listing that I could use to filter on force size? Thank you!

Oh? How so? For what it's worth - and maybe I'm a bit too critical of the CM Beta Testers - but the gal on the far end looks a little "hippy" to me. I guess it could be that the skirt of her testing uniform has slipped down a bit from all the...testing.

Awesome...not only an explanation, but a war story to boot! Next question: Will friction bearing boxes be modeled in CM:N? ;-)
