  1. Update Two of the three finals scenarios have been sent out to the finalists. The third scenario will be ready shortly. I now have enough volunteers to create 3 more sections, and your files will be going out tonight. I need 3 more players to get section 7 going, so sign up!
  2. You, sir, are correct! In addition to the finalists, everyone who has played in the regular tourney are welcomed to play the three finals scenarios. You will be organized in the same format as the finalists, and your scores will be added to the mix to create a more (cough) accurate (cough) Nabla score. So far I've received e-mails from Cuzn and Ankulin wishing to play. Anyone else? Drop me an e-mail.
  3. OK, we can now announce the winners of the regular tournament, and the matchups for the finals. As you know, only those who submitted five AARs would be eligible to play in the finals. Therefore, I concentrated only on those players which were listed in Ace's final tally. You can see this list in the last post of the ROW V (part 3) thread. I then looked to see if the group leaders were included in that list. If they were then they would automatically advance to the finals, since they would retain their lead no matter how the others scored. Not surpisingly, all of the group leaders submitted 5 full credit AARs. Taking those 12 players, and then shuffling them around to create 3 new sections, I came up with the following list for the ROW V finals: Section 1 Jon L Panzertwat GreenHornet Londoner Section 2 Sivodsi Walpurgis Night Steve McClaire Platehead Section 3 Flenser Malakovski Steve S Stoneage The first file will be sent out tonight.
  4. This is the latest thread for the Rumblings of War Tournament. From this point on we will be concentrating on the finals, which should be starting this weekend. As always, we begin with the Tournament manual For the most part the same rules we used for the regular tourney will apply to the finals. This includes AARs, FOW & Dropouts. One change will be the deadline, which hasn't been determined yet. Whatever time frame we decide on will begin the moment the last file is sent out. Keep an eye out on this post as I will edit in the deadline when we do settle on one. More in a bit...
  5. This is just a guess, but the fact that he is leaving the vast majority of your own forces alone and in their defensive positions may be the reason the map isn't scrolling. It may be that the computer is calculating the two force's strengths, and determining that his force isn't strong enough to oust your own men simply by scrolling the map. Just going around them isn't going to do any good if the force he flanks is as big as his own. He needs to force you off the hill the old fashioned way - infantry and artillery.
  6. The CM game engine treats hull down as having as much of the hull below the terrain crest but still be able to use the main gun. For the Grant the main gun is the hull mounted 75mm, so more of the vehicle is exposed. If you want to truly be hull down in a Grant then issue it a 'move to contact' command. That way, it will roll forward and then stop when the turret spots a target.
  7. There are several, including size of no-man's land and also the size of the battle window, both of which are set by the designer.
  8. Some Ops are 'static' meaning you view and play on the entire map, and it does not scroll. I'm not sure if Island Hill is such an Op. Did the map scroll for the battles 1 & 2?
  9. 3 sites I would recommend for Ops: Der Kessel Boots and Tracks The scenario depot
  10. No, I mean I will be shooting myself this weekend over the stress from ROW.
  11. well how exacttly will a 4% increase of everyones scores actully help? The outcome would remain the same but just 4% higher  someone care to explain? [/QB]</font>
  12. I can't help but thinking we are about to come full circle with regards to ROW, not that I mind
  13. WHAT THE HELL DID YOU....OH CRAP....YOU BROKE IT!!!!! AAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THAT'S IT, THE TOURNAMENT IS CANCELLED!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. The deadline for AARs was one week past the tourney deadline, which in reality was yesterday. Ace is giving everyone a bit more time to get in as many as possible, so check with him to see how much time is left. If Stoneage does not submit all 5 AARs he will not advance to the finals. This applys to everyone. As for posting an AAR to a website, that is permissible as long as Ace is made aware of its location and can access it.
  15. Therein lies a problem, because I know for a fact that neither scenario was designed to be unbalanced, and the huge win/losses that we witnessed did not come up in testing. I was the designer for Push, and I made sure that whatever advantage one side had was offset to a certain degree by advantages to the other side. So, how does one ensure a scenario is not unbalanced, even borderline?
  16. TB, What exactly is this new system you ran for Moltke. You say it is the original Nabla - do you still have the program? Also, doesn't this new system simply just 'tightening up' the numbers, but keeping the same ratio? In other words, if under the old system player X had a 10 point lead over player Y, but in the new one the ratio is now 8 to 4?
  17. But do you think its possible that using such a weapon would go unnoticed by the Germans?
  18. So, if I understand this correctly, the Russians discover a new weapon that is able to stop a Nazi campaign in its tracks, at least temporarily, and then never use it again???.
  19. The Scotch is mine. I may have to fly +7000 miles to enjoy it, but it's still mine.
  20. Ouch This one is going to hurt. To be honest, they all hurt, but this one... If one was to ask who has ever been given the opportunity of choosing from a list of fine liquors, and having his choice sent to his doorstep free of charge, one would be hard pressed to find one individual that has ever had that opportunity. I've been given three. And I've had to pass on all three. Yes, it hurts. Winecape, I am sorry (really) to do this, but I have to pass on your extremely generous offer yet again. The reason being that about the time of Jeff's get together I will be here in WPB, in court, as a witness and a representative for my mother (all I can say about this). I would like to take this opportunity (again) to tell the entire Florida legislature to kiss my hairy ass for passing the assinine liquor import laws. I will now go off to cry... sob...
  21. No, you had it right the first time. Assault with one, and back up with two (or more). That pretty much applies across the board, be it a platoon or company. The more firepower you pour into the enemy, the better the chances your assualt team arrives intact.
