  1. Flamingknives hit the nail on the head. I always buy a uni carrier for each 3" mortar team, and when unloading them I never move them farther than a few meters away from the carrier. The exception being when they are deployed on the defense, and even then I never move them unless they load up into a prime mover.
  2. Just ran a small test using an axis arty spotter firing on a US platoon. After 10 turns the platoon surrendered, with 44 total casualties, 9 of which were listed as dead. The spotter showed 44 kills to his credit, so it counts both KIA and wounded. I think this also answers Emry's question on kills being credited only if they are observable. The spotter in question was positioned behind a hill, and never had LOS to the US platoon. BTW, just for kicks I ran another test with an Elite sharpshooter firing on 4 conscript shermans. 4 shots were fired, each one triggering a "I'm hit" sound from the TCs. The Sharpshooter's kill screen showed 0 credits.
  3. That was on my to-do list for today. Thanks for hosting the site. Unfortunately, it doesn't play well vs the AI. The complex map and numerous reinforcements overwhelm it. The best is obviously H2H, but I've tested each in hotseat mode and gotten a decent game out of it. Hiram no longer plays CM?
  4. Hmm, I may have something in the works. Would you have any info on the fighting near Heralikon on the island of Crete?
  5. I can recommend two: "The High Road" by Scott Boston, which was designed for the ROW III tournament. He hasn't released it, but I'll drop him a line to see if wouldn't mind. There is also "The Baksan Bridgehead" by myself, which you can find here. It doesn't have mountainous terrain, more like tall hills, but does feature the Romanian 2nd Mountain division.
  6. All 3 are based on the battle for St. Lambert-sur-Dives. This small village is situated on the banks of the Dives River in Normandy, and during the period August 18th-20th, 1944 it was the setting for a 3-day battle between a combined arms force built around the South Alberta Light horse, and assorted German units trying to escape the killing fields of the Falaise pocket. All 3 scenarios are set on the same map, and are arranged in chronological order. However, each one is a stand alone scenario, so you can play them in any order. The first (Thrust and Parry) depicts the first encounters between the tanks of 'C' Squadron, South Alberta Light Horse, and assorted German units defending the village. Medium / 25 turns variable / ~5000 pts total. The second (The Flood gates open) covers the August 19th attack on the village, while more and more Germans units attempt to cross the river and retreat eastward. Large / 45 turns variable / ~9000 points total. The third and last scenario (The Torrent) condenses the entire battle on the 20th into a 55-turn scenario. Now the Canadians are defending the village, following yesterday's successful attack, while the Germans are desperate to force a crossing and secure the routes leading eastward. Huge / 55 turns variable / ~16000 points total. A note of thanks to Michael Dorosh, JonS and Micheal Kenny, and a very special thanks to Gpig, for their help with research and suggestions. E-mail me if you are interested in testing them. Make sure to let me know which scenario you want to test. Address is in my profile.
  7. 2 quick questions, one specific to the battle for St. Lambert, the other related to the Falaise pocket 1) How much of St. Lambert did Currie's force capture during August 19th / 20th? I've read accounts that say only half the village was taken, while others (the SAR book in particular) that say they had units in defensive positions around the "Marie" building and the bridges, which is near the southern end of the village. 2) At what point was the Magny crossing point (NW of St. Lambert on the Dives river) no longer available to the Germans?
  8. Are they at the Depot? I have a couple of setups I owe folks. -dale </font>
  9. I've got about a dozen CMBO scenario converted to CMAK. Mostly Wild Bill classics, plus a few others. If there was one more vehicle type I could add it would be the Cromwell. That would open up a lot more scenarios for conversions.
  10. Tear 'em a new one, Red, because...um...they are going to do the same to you.
  11. Then you need to send me the scores for Wet Triangle and Push to Maleme, as I haven't got those.
  12. Yes, and then divided by half. I just checked my spreadsheet and I don't see it listed. Please resend, and CC Rob in the e-mail.
  13. The only things growing on trees near the Dives are SS Panzergrenadiers...well, parts of them at least... BTW, e-mail me. I need to add your full name to the briefings.
  14. Click here for details on the KT in Normandy. You may see some familiar names posting there
  15. OK, this one is starting to list badly, so it is time to abandon ship. Everyone, over the side and into here Moon, As captain you stay behind and go down with her. Thanks man!
  16. This is the latest thread for the Rumblings of War Tournament. Welcome one and all to the Rumblings of War Tournament. As with previous ROWs we begin with the Tournament Manual. This will describe the details of how ROW is organized and run, so please take a moment to read up on it. OK, first on the list: Deadlines The deadline for the regular season is June 7th. This gives you 4 months to finish 5 scenarios, so you do the math as to file exchange rates with your opponents. Although TCP is not a requirement, I do suggest looking into organizing a session or two with each opponent if at all possible. Exchanging one e-mail a day will require three days to complete one turn using PBEM. A one hour TCP session may complete 5-10 turns. AARs AARs are mandatory, as in everybody writes one for each game. A minimum of 5000 words and 30 screenshots...each. Ok, I was kidding about that last part, but not about the mandatory requirment. Look at it this way, you get to play in a very challenging and entertaining tournament. You get to play scenarios designed just for you. You have a chance at winning a case of the finest South African Wine, delivered to your door free of charge. What do we ask in return...feedback. Let us know how you did, what you thought of it, and ways we can improve it. We appreciate your feedback. If you need an idea of what we are looking for in an AAR, let me know and I can e-mail you a couple of good examples. Ace Pilot is now handling all AARs for ROW V. Please send these directly to him at: acepilot88(at)yahoo.com FOW The moment the first file goes out the tournament is in full FOW lockdown mode. Loose lips sink ships, and they also piss off the tourney organizer [Mad] . Do not discuss anything about the tournament with anyone, even your dog. If you have a question that is FOW sensitive, e-mail me. Dropouts & MIA The Nabla scoring system cannot handle incomplete games, so we require all games to be finished. If for whatever reason you need to withdraw please let us know right away. You will not be penalized in any way by informing us in a timely manner. If you plan on being offline for an extended period of time please inform your opponents. Also, if an unexpected problem arises that prevents you from informing us (computer problems), have a backup plan so that a message can be sent. In this day and age everyone has a friend or relative with internet access. Have them e-mail me explaining the situation. 17. I want to chime in for a second and highly recommend this Op. A lot of work went into this one, and it showed. I am playing against the axis AI and am just finishing up the first battle. The Canadians have overcome the beach defenses (not an easy thing to do, even against the AI), and are now expanding their beachhead. The sight of invasion force advancing inland, on a map of this size and historical accuracy, is impressive. Hats off to Emar for an excellent Op. Now, if we could just convince him to do one for Epsom...
  18. What I can tell you is... 3 scenarios. One set in Tunisia, the second in Poland and the third in France. They are all bigger than the regular tourney, both in number of turns and number of units. Map is size is also bigger. I know that is going against the established standards of what a ROW scenario should be, but then again, this is the last hurrah. I want the old CM engine to go out with a bang, and what better way than to have a map full of things that go bang.
  19. I am sending Emar a quick AAR every 5 turns. Not very detailed, really more of a quick review of the last 5 turns. I am up to T-11, but will hold off for now. There are 3 scenarios of a certain battle along the Dives river that are in need of briefings...
  20. Emar, Just a heads up, your briefings state 8 battles / 20 turns each but the game parameters are set at 9 battles / 25 turns.
  21. Emar, I sent you an e-mail with some initial observations on your Op, but it bounced back even though I repsonded directly to the one you sent me. I tried a second time, and did not get a bounce message. Did you receive the second e-mail?
  22. Just sent you an e-mail, but in case it didn't go thru I am posting here as well. Please send it my way.
  23. LOL!!! A story about a T34 that knocks itself out...from Makjager...oh wait, Jwxspoon is involved in this as well...LOL!!!!!!! That was a good one, Jesse. Got anymore?
