  1. Knife, Sounds good, take your time. Slapdragon, I always heard the "rifle" line with another country rather than France. However, to avoid me being flamed it will remain anonymous.
  2. Knife, Sounds interesting. I'll give it a try. SFGCAP@aol.com
  3. Interesting stuff! Yes, HQ units DO put up a fight at times. In the Beta, I had a BN HQ unit knock out a 251/1 from the top story of a stone building, and then hold off Germans in the bottom story for approx. 3 turns, causing 3 casualties. It was a PBEM with Machushla. Where'd he ever go anyway? The 5 survivors were captured, and one was killed when the unit made a break for it. I lost, but it was impressive watching the Maj. lob grenades and fire at Germans while others were running.
  4. For the last time people... The Polish 1st Ind. Para. Bde. was not destroyed while dropping in, as "A Bridge Too Far" depicts it. Yes, there were Germans shooting at them while they came down, but they were not massacred. Indeed, Arnhem was a "semi" Crete if you wish to compare it. Best of luck with the scenarios, sound interesting!
  5. The vet I talked to commented that the bazooka could take down whole walls in some cases (most were light or previously damaged), or at least collapse part of them with a good sized explosion able to take a few Germans with it.
  6. A vet in the 80th Inf Div that I talked to said bazookas were the most efective way for infantry to do house to house fighting. Pour suppressive fire on the building, then get the bazooka team to fire at one of the walls or the window. End of problem most of the time. However, in CM, I have noticed that 'zooks are useless for digging out infantry. Anyone else have better luck? I remember in CC2 actually using them to some success in that role.
  7. Ah, must check that scenario out. Anyone have a link (too lazy to look for it myself). Look forward to KFS's and IPA's scenarios! [ 07-04-2001: Message edited by: Gen. Sosaboski ]
  8. I had a 'zook apparently club a Platoon HQ's sole survivor to death.
  9. OK, let's see. IPA, I congratulate you on your knowledge! Indeed, the 1st Ind. Pol. Para. Bde. had AT guns. They were flown in by glider (Polish glider pilots) into the LZ at Oosterbeek. However, it was a mass of confusion as a firefight between the "Red Devils" and the SS was underway when they landed. Some of the guns were used in the perimeter though. Very good! Why CC2 has the AT guns in Driel is beyond me. However, I'll be more than happy to see some new ABTF scenarios for CM!
  10. One of my many ambushes with Polish Paras had me defending a small village with one crack Pol. Abn. Platoon, a vet Pol. 6lbr. AT gun, and some minefields/barbed wire against 2 SS Platoons, a 250/8 HT, 75mm spotter, and a StuH42. Make a long story short, ambush pulls off great. StuH42 taken out by PIAT, HT taken out by gun and PIAT. However, SS infantry then goes all out trying to get my gun. Meanwhile, my paras are raining lead down on the attacking SS at the bottom of the hill. At the end of the victorious battle (for me), I counted 30 dead SS surrounding the gun (which also died after 4 minutes of assault, but the last guy standing pulled the lanyard, killed an SS in a building, and was then gunned down). That was a thrilling battle! Also, not in CM, but in Sid Meier's Gettysburg, I held off a Confederate attack near Power's Hill using good terrain. At the end of that, there was a mass of grey "bodies" at the bottom of that hill. My guys lost about 170, the CSA lost about 800. Sometimes fights can get real bad! I love infantry battles as well!
  11. Ah, good old Poland is in the game it appears. Looks like there's no reason to change the good old membername here... Sewers! Looks promising for a Warsaw Uprising scenario...
  12. Statue of Liberty? So what? You are sadly mistaken, my friend KGC. We are fighting for Warsaw, not for NYC. Too bad you just got the Americans ticked off as much as we are. Now, please, before my Bren gunner starts up, rence do gory... KFS. Now isn't that interesting. Appears engy has your soldats running headlong for Berlin. Good job, engy, fine boy.
  13. KG Commander: Rence do gory! (See Polish translations thread)
  14. You forgot the insane war yell from CC2 (one cool feature of that game...) which means "Remember Warsaw!" Still, my favorite CM line is "Stick that in you pipe Fritz!"
  15. I have had great success with Polish/Brit Airborne, epescially defending. If I am attacking with regular troops, I usually equip myself with a 4.2 in mortar FO (good response time, good punch as well), a platoon or two, and some vehicles (all depends on the price range). 2 in. mortars CAN ko guns and small inf. units (had a platoon hq get taken out once).
  16. Hear hear! I have had many a good crew taken out by their own sheer arrogance/"machoness". I wish I could just yell at them to bail!
  17. Indeed Panzerman! Not only the waiting for that, but it was final exams week!
  18. They knew we were launching a massive counterattack and got scared...
  19. Can't get in on this one, too busy. Be sure to let me know when the next one starts, though! I too am interested in the mechanics of this. How do you get it to work? I always thought it would be cool just commanding a vehicle or AT gun in the big picture.
  20. Personally I love the Stuart. It is the Panther of recon vehicles/tanks. As the Allies, you can laugh when the Axis opponent's 20mm shells bounce harmlessly off the Stuart, then watch the German HT get toasted by the 37mm. As mentioned by PzrWerfer42, it is also a great light bunker killer. With its 37mm gun, it can also ko a German tank with a flank shot (even Tigers can fall prey if you do it right). Also, the mere presence of a tank with a light gun and 3 (I think) MGs will make your opponent much more careful with the infantry. The Stuart also has a good top speed, although as with many Allied tanks, it is not meant to be a dueler head-on with Axis armor (unless its light). Overall, I'd say its an outstanding buy and a great addition to any force, especially if you're doing counter-recon, but for just about anything else as well.
  21. I played "Grafenwohr" a while back as the British (yeah, strange, but I love the underdog) and won thanks to my two snipers. Combined they took out 2-3 FO teams and an entire 50mm mortar crew. Then, even though they were overrun, my Vickers and dug in rifle platoons had fun blunting the German assault from the hills in converging fields of fire. Yes, they are worth it!
