LGMB, I think I have joined the ranks of the lurkers as well. I don't know, I think there are too many people here for me to enjoy myself. That and the constant "Gamey" and "Uber (Insert nation here) soldiers not modeled" threads got me a lurking. Perhaps we should organize ourselves into a unit. I nominate #4 for overall commander, and I gladly volunteer myself for brigade/regimental command. -
Smoke on the water, fire in the sky!

The war gods are giving you the "thumbs up" for victory. -
I'd encourage you to play the scenario "Red Devils" that comes with the CD. It's quite an interesting one, with some "drop in" guests. As you can tell by my user name, I am very interested in 1st Ind. Pol. Para. Bde. You'll find the game a lot of fun, trust me! Just use the Airborne troops in close range fights a lot, that's what I do, and usually end up winning. Have fun! Good to see someone who remembers Arnhem to the date.

Nice job Slapdragon! I am glad to hear the brigadier is not a suspect (didn't really think he'd do something like that). -
2 Huge planes just wrecked into World Trade Center
Gen. Sosaboski replied to Echo's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
It's amazing I can't describe it. The horror of this day. Perhaps a modern day Pearl Harbor? I don't know. All I know is that I am flaming mad (to not use other words...) at the people who caused it. Killing thousands of innocent people. If the Armed Forces asks for volunteers, I'm in. -

COMBAT MISSIONS: CMMOS !!
Gen. Sosaboski replied to Manx's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Yeah, did that, but still don't see any new vehicles to choose from upon entering CMMOS. The thing didn't come with a rule set. Could that be the problem? I see the "new" bmps sitting in my cmbo bmp folder quite nicely. -
COMBAT MISSIONS: CMMOS !!
Gen. Sosaboski replied to Manx's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
OK, let's see. Firstly, it looks great, thanks to all involved! I downloaded "Feldgrau"'s Universal Carrier mod from "Der Kessel" which said it was CMMOS version. However, after unzipping it into both the CMMOS folder itself and the "cmbo" bmp folder, I see nothing. Is there a problem here? Sorry for not being completely computer literate. -
Hello CM World - Newbie Question
Gen. Sosaboski replied to Fluf's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Hey there Fluf. I don't get the chance very often to play ops (very busy here usually), but let me try to explain best I can. Yes, the battles in operations are directly linked. Most of the time, the battles cover 1-3 days of fighting, and yes, the results of one battle may affect another. For example, if you get your Sherman Crocodile that was assigned to you Ko'ed in the plains, then good luck clearing out the enemy village (you most likely will not get another. However, if you have a decent vehicle recovery chance (AKA play Allies!), you may see "abandoned" vehicles return to battle later in the op. Have fun with the game, and hope this answers some of your question(s)! -
what are the worst units?
Gen. Sosaboski replied to russellmz's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
105mm howitzer, night, heavy fog. About 50 m visibility. -

Far as I know, the vets from the 101st gave it a thums-up, so it SHOULD be good. -

Gen. Sosaboski replied to C Dunphie's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
(Snore) (Wakes Up) Huh? Debate? Long live the Poles! Come on people, everyone has weaknesses and strengths in this game. I'm an American, and yes, I do find it disappointing that more Allied SMGs are not found, along with Armored Inf., but hey, that's life. Can't we all just get along? -

Gen. Sosaboski replied to Kurtz's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
So, you needed to "run away!" according to the briefing, but you beat your opponent. Congratulations! This is what I like to do. Check out RussMz's scenario "Decision". It's funny with different forum characters running around in it and has a good battle (Play as the Allies and make it like Bastogne, like me ) -

Future CMs - 4 player TCP/IP games?
Gen. Sosaboski replied to Panzer76's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Yeah, that'd be pretty cool, kind of like Sid Meier's Gettysburg, where each player commanded a brigade. Each player in the CM battle could command a platoon, or company depending on size. Good idea... -
Yes, and also to simulate the Mosquitoes of the RAF disrupting a ceremonial parade in Berlin. (Yes, it happened. I believe it (the parade) was for Hitler's 10th Anniversary as Fuhrer and was organized by Goering.)
