Russell, looks like another hysterical scenario will soon be coming out!
I do not see my name on the "Member Roster/Listing" Am I part of the raid? I can fly a glider near BTS HQ if you give me a map. Make me either American or Polish Airborne if possible.
Thanks!
(Drooling) 11 B-25s? 11 B-25s?!?! What I would pay to see that...my favorite bomber of all time...and the Doolittle Raiders.
MkIV, you are a very lucky man! Sounds like the event was very nicely done! Let me know where the pictures will be posted.
ARRGGHH! And I couldn't be there!
I hate to see old airplanes in bad shape. Last year at the Reading Airshow (It's actually a WWII extravaganza-the entire field is basically turned into a front-line WWII airbase with mock battles and all-check it out) the YAF C-47 ended up in bad shape. It appeared to have landed on one wheel, but I'm not sure exactly what happened.
If ANYONE has a chance to go up in a vintage airplane (esp. WWII) just do it, don't ask!
I got to go up on one a couple of years ago. The flight took us over the Statue of Liberty, and seeing that from a B-17s nose is something not easily forgotten.
It was on the YAF's B-17, Yankee Lady, and at several points I was overcome by the atmosphere and ended up "claiming" an "attacking" C-172 from the top turret.
A little while ago, someone mentioned recon scenarios on one of these forums. I heard it was on the "Last Defense" website but I cannot find a link to it (yeah, I'm lazy right now). If anyone could tell me, it'd be much appreciated.
Thanks.
I agree with Ron. I've drawn the LOS line with zooks/PIATs to vehicles over their range, but with excellent kill chances. Just be patient, let them come in, and toast them. If they won't, then go hunting.
I had 3 .30 caliber (ABN) MGs hold off ~two platoons of Rifle 44 Germans for 8 minutes. Then they got overrun, but the Germans didn't think about the Airborne platoon behind the MGs .
Madmatt I thought you were kidding about the picture being lame! People are going to start thinking that these heroes are figments of my imagination...
Thanks fellas. I have a good amount of the books on the "CM Reading List" (great job GB!) and will continue to accumulate them unti I end up drowning in books, probably.
