  1. I know everyone might not like Ollie North, but I was watching his series "War Stories" last night, and the topic was D-Day/Normandy Campaign. Quite a few good interviews and footage. In any case, the footage began to roll about the landing and the Allies moving inland. I then heard the familiar tune of the CMBO intro music that accompanies the intro movie. They played it about six times by my count, and it accompanied the footage and narration quite well. Just getting the word out. Who knows? Maybe Ollie is a CMBO fan?
  2. I remember the Beta Demo. The sight of a bazooka round killing a Tiger as it rolled by made me realize this would be THE game. (From Last Defense). I was also hooked when I used the 105mm spotter in Riesberg, and when I did flanking movements around 88s with my infantry, panicking the enemy. I went down to level one (closest to ground) view. It looked SO COOL! I was addicted, hopelessly.
  3. Interesting, Fionn. It's just that many of the AARs I've read are by you using Axis troops. The only Allied one I remember reading is "Last Defense". I'll take Fionn on this one.
  4. This should be a tough match. Long time, no see, Fionn... I've become sort of a lurker; busy with other CM things, awaiting Airborne Assault, etc. Quite a good AAR you've got going with Warren. Before I make any bets...who's playing what side? I thought I'd be able to automatically determine this, but in Fionn's latest AAR, he uses allied troops. Imagine that...
  5. Send it over, my good man. I'll make a battle out of it equal to "Decision: Mini-Bastogne", and "Burpelson: Air Force All the Way!" proportions...
  6. Outstanding job, Kingfish! I knew someone could do the job when I became a semi-lurker.
  7. I thought the Poles were going to be in CMBB. It is a disappointment, after having them in CMBO.
  8. "The Polish-Soviet War ended in a Polish victory, and Poland's eastern borders were settled by the peace treaty of Riga in 1921. Poland now extended considerably into its historical territories, the vast, sparsely populated plains."- "Polish Air Force 1939-1945" (Squadron/Signal Publications) So, if the Russians pushed all the way to Warsaw, then how did the Poles expand their Eastern borders? Seems like the treaty was signed in 1921, rather than 1920, as well. Perhaps the real answer will never be known. Certainly, the ghetto populations were wiped out before the 1944 Uprising occurred, but I still believe Stalin harbored feelings against simply the Poles themselves.

  10. I strongly support Steve in the opinion that the Polish cavalry did not charge German Panzers. Rather, there was an incident in which Polish cavalry seriously mauled a German supply unit (motorized) while on horseback. Some light tanks came up and drove the Poles away. The next day, an Italian journalist saw some dead horses and Polish cavalry, along with one of the light tanks. Thus began the myth of the Polish cavalry charging armored units. I still think it'd be interesting to see Cavalry units included, though. Perhaps a mounted/dismounted option, like the Germans have the motorized/armored option with their panzergrenadiers.
  11. A few good Allied recce scenarios at "The Last Defense" (angelfire.com/ak5/TheLastDefense/index.html) for those interested. Require strategy, not shoot 'em up mad dashes.
  12. Congratulations to President Moon! Now get back to working on CM2!
  13. Indeed, I have found out the meaning of that expression: "War is hours of sheer boredom punctuated by moments of sheer terror." Quite a good time though. If I told you more, well, you know...
  14. After weeks of lurking, I came back to the board to ask where to find that mod...and here it is. Thanks guys! Be sure to let me know when Version 2 comes out with the parasantas! Hopefully before Christmas.
  15. Try the Grafenwohr scenario as the British. It may seem against the purpose of the scenario, but your two sharpshooters out in front offer a very good look into how much these guys can affect an attack. One guy took out two FO teams, a mortar crew, 3 MG42 Crewmen, and a Coy HQ. By the time the Germans reached the MLR, even though it was weak, I was able to keep them at bay, even though a few squads did charge to the top of the hill (only to be eliminated in brutal hand to hand combat). Without them, I would have been crushed.
  16. Ha ha! Hope you can swim, or raise 109 Gustav's boat...
  17. RussMz, Yes, very good! But, aren't you assaulting your own side's tank? I'm surprised you haven't been fragged by those guys who shared your foxhole. They look pretty pissed compared to you. Keep us updated.
  18. Very nice catch there. Yes, the Poles did do a lot of codebreaking vs. the Germans, including Engima. And, no they did not break the machine.
  19. lcm, I've seen this happen many times. It is a result of a crossfire, friends accidentally (or maybe not, if they're brutal...) shooting the captured, or your men just getting brutal themselves.
  20. Useless? Yes, assault boats. Also: trucks. I find them useless, except if you've got to move big stuff far away and are not under fire. 14 inch FOs. Yeah, they're nice, but unless you design your own scenario, you never get to use them
  21. Okay, we go in waves. Members 1-550, you are Battalion 1, first wave, members 550-1100...
  22. In A QB, a Marder III buzzed right by my MLR, sustaining no damage. It then came across my M3A1 HT and fired, immobilizing the HT and killing the gunner, but losing its TC. A 50 cal. that it had passed by then rotated and fired a long stream of bullets into the rear of the Marder, blowing it up. Now that was cool...
