Even an AT-Rifle team should teoretically be able to brew up a tank as long as it hits the vehicles armory shouldn't it?
-
Yeah I second that.. havnen't been this excited about a WW2 game since CM:BO and this is the eastern front !!! Must say I was really impressed about the new commands, especially the "no don't target the field kitchen donkey cart and ruin our ambush on the 4 mkIII's coming along" options.

I did not come for a fight just to point out how immature it is to tell the fans (and developers) their #1 game sucks, period... crap there I went and said it anyway.

Nice observation. It's easier to misunderstand too, if it's Soviet you know it's somewhere in the 1900's. Something sounds wrong when Napoleon got stuffed on the Soviet front. If only people stopped calling us Norwegians vikings the confusion would end...

Been a while since I posted anything on the board but this ticks me off Big Time (Software?)! If I can't get the "real" version I don't want it, period (erm.. perhaps, maybe...). Guess I'll have to pay someone in the last free country in the world to get me the real deal. Although I'm dissapointed I can understand both BTS and CDV. CDV can't import/export anything with Nazi symbols, they didn't make the law and BTS has legal obligations to let CDV take care of the European distribution. Let's hope BTS makes a patch so that non-German customers can have a real version. It's the feeling of knowing some crazy Joe or Jim "over there" having fun with real hardcore elite Waffen SS while I have to try to plan with some low morale, second rate, fresh out of basic camp lazy Waffengrenadieres that's worst, really. At least we got a perfectly sane explanation if we should loose a PBEM !!!

Big news for Scenario designers
howardb replied to Pzman's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
I got one I need you to test. It's based on the Bulge +2-3 days. I wanted to capture the atmosphere of the tenacious defense some of the rearguard units put up. Basic OOB (this can of course change after testing): US: About two full strenght rifle companies with some support (57mm/76mm AT guns). These guys are generally newly formed just shipped over to the ETO. Reinforcements??? Dunno actually. Germans: Germans have had losses over several days already so this is where we should correct for play balance. If you would give me some input it would be much appreciated I'll send you the file tomorrow -
Need someone to give me some input on changes to get a scenario "just right". It's based on the Bulge btw. PS. Need your e-mails

CM2 Question about dug in vehicles....
howardb replied to Clinton's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
I'm not sure I would dig in a Jagdpanther considering it's got no turret but I like the idea of being able to dig in armor. It gives greater flexibility in both multi- and singleplayer. You've bought equipment and later finds out you needed a gun placement in an overwatch position. -

CM2 Question about dug in vehicles....
howardb replied to Clinton's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Can't you just make a dent in the terrain where you can reverse out and you're in a 100% perfect hull down position? -
Tank Modeling (The small plastic kind) Question

Got my hands on a Pak40 and a PzkwIV last year but I haven't gotten round to building them yet. I prefer TAMIYA myself btw. -
CM2 Question about dug in vehicles....
howardb replied to Clinton's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Isn't the dug-in position made so that you can reverse out of them. As I see it it's just a ramp where you're hull down, right? -
CM 2 Article, with Screens
howardb replied to Stacheldraht's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Nice discussion you're having here. I've been reading Computer Gaming World for several years here in Norway so I'd be very surprised if Norway is the only country in the world apart from US where it can be bought. Go to a specialist store for magazines and they will most certainly order the mag if they don't already have it in stock. -
Any feedback on AMD T-birds and CM?
howardb replied to gunnergoz's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Been looking into juice compared to price and found that this system should be pretty good. Asus A7V mobo (supports UDMA100 drives) 256 PC-133 RAM (RAM is too cheap these days) T-Bird 850 - 1000 mhz. (can be overclocked later) GeForce MX board (good and cheap) The T-bird is overclockable but I don't see any point in overclocking a new cpu at anything under 200mhz (you need a powerful/expensive fan maybe even a Peltier) and the new DDR RAM is just too expensive to be worth buying(juice compared to price wise that is). Pluss the motherboards that supports DDR ram is much more expensive. [This message has been edited by howardb (edited 03-18-2001).] -

What AFV are you looking forward to in CM2?
howardb replied to Cybeq's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Personally I'm looking forward to how to open up the KV-1 and the problems around this in '41. Lot's of PkwIII's speeding around trying to get in a flank round. Maybe drive in an 88 at 2000m or so. With the vast distances you have to rewrite your tactics considerably from CMBO. -
Heheh... hillarious post. Have to admit I'm kind of weak for turkeys, nothing gives you a laugh like a movie that get's everything wrong. Sometimes I wonder "do the director know this is utter crap?" sorry for the long absence btw

Anyone seen or currently playing HowardB ?
howardb replied to fd ski's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
I'm sorry people but I've actually been home sick and very limp so I couldn't bare the thought of thinking tactics. I will remedy this over the weekend. Sorry people. -
I don't think the total costs between a Heavy MG and a Jeep is off mark. Consider there's more men, equipment, training, experience etc in a MG team. Costs involved in keeping men fight is continually while a Jeep basically only needs a little fuel now and then. That rarity option would be great, I remember it from Close Combat and I was always hoping for the best when I got to buy units. Top notch.
