Okay, I've got a question about infantry smoke grenades. ***DISCLAIMER*** I have read the manual and understand that the reason infantry smoke grenades are not modelled/included is because BTS could find little or no supporting evidence that they were used as anything other than signals. Okay, here's the question(s): Are infantry smoke grenades not a viable tool? Do they exist for any purpose other than signalling? Is the reason that they are not in the game because they were used only at the sub-squad level, for example, "Johnson, throw smoke to cover Smitty!", and as such be inappropriate and gamey for a game of CM's scale? If you can muddle throught those rather stupidly-worded questions (it's very late where I am), thanks!

I'm definitely with I/O Error. VB is very slick. "1337!"

I/O! I've been watching the CS boards for a LONG time. Too bad SplitSoul left, huh? Steve, whatever new software you use, can we stick with this format of clicking on and reading the entire post at a time, as opposed to having to click on each different response? I read WAY faster than I can click.

Realistic tank platoon? (US)
JeffRaider replied to Thermopylae's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
I'm not sure, but isn't a regular Tank Platoon just five tanks of similar type? A Sherman Platoon, for example, would have five Shermans. I think things get mixed up more at the company-level, like a M5 as the Company Command Tank. Absolutely unsure about all of this, though . . . -
Another idea: Have CMHQ Chat be the place where people go to meet?

Our father who art in heaven (On Topic)
JeffRaider replied to Lordfluffers's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
On the subject of churches, those little villages in QBs can sure have a lot of churches, huh? I've seen as many as four churches in a town with around twelve buildings total. -
Bug ... rather comical, however
JeffRaider replied to Lacky's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
Well, the TD Crew's idea that maybe our HE will penetrate the side of this cliff is a little bit buggy. . . -
Anybody heard of this game?
JeffRaider replied to Doug Beman's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
On the subject of other games, has anyone heard anything about Majestic? It was in the last(I think) issue of PC Gamer. Looks scary as hell. . . -

1-man MG42 team - He walked away!!!
JeffRaider replied to coralsaw's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
The first time this happened to me, I cried out in dismay when the little sucker ran. A second later, though, an errant artillery round impacted right in front of him. Hehe. Little jerk. -
Sorry, guys. Nice work, anyway.

quote:
Lose an infantry man - 1 mouth full of beer

Ouch. The way I play, I'd be having my stomach pumped by Turn 10.

Try Team DeSobry by Wild Bill Wilder. Make sure to get the updated version and play as Allies.

Missing Squad Types in CM
JeffRaider replied to Hamstersss's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
What, exactly, is so horrible about having some special unit types in? I mean, they add so much, and detract so litte. I loved playing around with Rangers and Commandos in Steel Panthers. What I liked even more about Steel Panthers was that you could edit the squad's armament and names. -
What is with threads getting locked?
JeffRaider replied to Jeff Heidman's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
I don't especially mind the speedlocking of flame wars, or burgeoning ones, but it bugs me when a thread is deemed "unnecessary" like the Borg threatening assimilation and immediately shut down. So what if it's unnecessary? If it isn't relevant, then it'll drift downwards, sure as being locked. If it doesn't drift downwards, then people are at least a little interested in it and what's so wrong about that? [This message has been edited by JeffRaider (edited 10-13-2000).] -
Has anyone else noticed the amazing number of locked threads in the last few days? The way things are going, this thread should be gone in a couple of hours. . .

quote:
to gain support from all the 13 year olds here

Ooooh, you're just bitter for losing a fight you DEFINITELY SHOULD HAVE WON!! Abbott's right, it should have been a losing fight. YOU HAD A PANTHER FOR GOD'S SAKE! You must be using the term 13 year old as a mark of respect, you big baby.
