1. The Ardennes Offensive Vol.2 is great, loads of fun, and FREE!!! Get it of the website, or at www.theunderdogs.org. Also, check that place out for LOTS of FREE war games!
2.
quote:
You take everything so seriously, and you always butt-into where your not wanted... E.g. Vietnam, Korea Should I keep going... And for all those in the past discussions who actually took a shot at my Grandfather who is dead and cant defend himself... take a look at your history... OH YEAH! everyone remembers the holochaust, 6 million jews murdered... BUT does anyone know that over 50 MILLION people have died under COMMUNISM, NO. Thats right protect your own interests and hush up your allies mistakes.. THATS WHAT AMERICANS ARE GOOD AT.

WOOOOOWOOOOOWOOOOOO!!! CONFLICTING STATEMENT POLICE, OPEN UP!! First you say the US butts into other people's business, then you go on to mention the horrors of communism, the thing the both wars you mentioned were fought to defend against. Sheesh!
3. I found my source for Jochen. A pretty lame book called "Battle Group Peiper", dealing with Peiper in Russia. The author, obviously Britsh, had the Germans saying things like "Hallo" and "Cheerio, mate."
4. Get ready, the one, the only, THE NON-CONTROVERSIAL PEIPER QUESTION!!! Is it spelled Jochen or Joachim? I've read both. ------------------ Jeff Fraser The Wargamer's Combat Mission Central http://www.wargamer.com/cm
5.
quote:
Smokey as a Sherman by turn 8, and smooth as a Panther G with hull-down.

What a lovely description! Actually, as being a long time drinker of bourbon, and a relative newcomer to the world of scotch, I really like JD. It's not of the highest quality, but has a flavor that really sits well with me. M'sM is good stuff, but I still like Wild Turkey A LOT, and it and JD are my preferences for when me and my buddies go out to get drunk. On that subject, has anyone tried JD- Single Barrel or Glen Fiddich Ancient Reserve?
6. Welcome aboard! I haven't heard anything about additional units or unit fixes for 1.03, but perhaps a later patch? ------------------ Jeff Fraser The Wargamer's Combat Mission Central http://www.wargamer.com/cm
7. I'm not going to use the grids. I like the way they look in the screenshots, but I just think it would detract from overall emmersion. I hate seeing the grid lines currently in the game, anyway. ------------------ Jeff Fraser The Wargamer's Combat Mission Central http://www.wargamer.com/cm
8. Definitely a great thread. [This message has been edited by JeffRaider (edited 08-11-2000).]
9. I know, I know. This problem only happens in IE, as far as I can tell. Does anyone have any input as to how to fix it?
10. I've gotten all the CM Reviews I can find and linked to them on the S-2 Desk at CMCentral. Let me know if you know of other reviews or have one you'd like to submit!! ------------------ Jeff Fraser The Wargamer's Combat Mission Central http://www.wargamer.com/cm
11.
quote:
Love the TacAI.

Yeah. When it WORKS.
12. I just played the most intense QB ever, tonight. A buddy and I did a hot seat. Inf vs. Inf at night, in fog. Gentle slopes, rural and open. Meeting engagement. We each began advancing towards the center, where the VFs were. After a couple of minutes, I'm in on the slight hill in the center. One minute after I get stopped on the hill, there's SS Rifle Squads EVERYWHERE!!! The game is over in five turns from that point. We fought to a draw, each down to under 10 men left remaining. I had four, and he had six, but 3 of mine were in a MMG team on top of an objective, so if he wanted to keep fighting, I probably would have won. His six guys were all individual PLs and SLs. After the game, I asked how he managed to surround me so fast. As it turns out, we both RAN to the hill simultaneously, and most of our forces passed THROUGH each other in the fog and darkness before spotting each other. AMAZING GAME!!!!!
13. "Captain! Captain! I hear fighter-bombers overhead, sir!!! We're going to get out here!" "Great, Private! Hey. . . wait a sec. Wait just one GD sec. . . Is he shooting at Sergeant John's M4. . .Huh? WAIT!! GET AWAY FROM MY LAST TANK YOU INBRED PUNK. . . aw nuts." "What now, sir?" "Um, retreat! We'll get those flyboys when they land, son. We'll get 'em when they land. . ."
14. "I hate TacOps! The AI cheats!" Those are all-too-familiar phrases in my house after a few rounds of TacOps. After getting my ass handed back to me a few times, I sure get vicious. BTW, The above was entirely in jest. I happen to love TacOps, and am happy as a clam that CM and TacOps are together under the BF.Com roof.
15. I recently noticed this while playing Moon's excellent operation Utrechtseweg(get it at www.gamesofwar.de). I would have loved some Vickers to hold that frontage. . .
16.
quote:
Mark H. Walker is an American badass, the likes of which you don't want to mess with--well, at least not when it comes to strategy and war games.

You guys had better watch what you say. . .
17. *****SPOILER****** s p o i l e r s _ a h e a d *****SPOILERS BELOW!!******* Definitely second the recommendation! Here's the spoiler--- Didn't that King Tiger make you crap yourself? Holy smokes! I ran my entire light tank platoon into it by accident! Luckily, an infantry platoon rushed it, and got it before it could fry up my tanks!!!!!
18. For some time I've been thinking about the S-3 Tent, the Wargamer's Combat Mission Scenarios and Operations section, trying to make it unique and interesting. Here's what I've come up with. Every week(roughly), one new scenario will be featured. Included in the feature will be screenshots, historical articles and links, an AAR or two and designer's notes. This will give scenario designers, both experienced and new, a chance to truly showcase their work, and not have it as "just one more scenario" out of many. The feature is open to EVERYONE, with only one caveat. Your scenario(or operation) can be available only at the Wargamer for the week that it is the feature scenario. After that, do with it as you will! Of course, all previous featured scenarios will still be kept, also. Please feel free to respond to this post or e-mail me if you have a scenario or operation to contribute, or would be interested in writing AARs for hot new scenarios! ------------------ Jeff Fraser The Wargamer's Combat Mission Central http://www.wargamer.com/cm

20. A few months ago I fired 30 bullseyes and near-bulls in one minute with an enfield. I had the clips stacked on a bench next to me, and shot from the kneel. I'm a very good shot.
21. Perhaps the operation is backwards, meaning that the armor should appear in the first battle across the bridge, and all other German forces should be coming from the north. That would make it pretty hair-raising. . .
