  1. Walter, Yep, you're right. I wasn't sure of the title. One suggestion, perhaps mention in the briefing that there is a bridge to cross BEFORE the real objective bridge. It's awesome, though.
  2. You're the man, Bill!!! I like, aside from all the WBW Ops, Utrechtseweg and Carentan, Operation Good Meadow(I think, it's a Canadian Op), Shanley's Stand(AWESOME), Day In The Cav, McKinley's Battalion, among others.
  3. What I normally do when I get a "how the hell. . ." AI kill on something totally hidden is to save it right then as a different file. After I finish the scenario, I go back to that save file and surrender, and I get to see the AI's positions right then. Normally a spotter or an infantry squad has worked its way somewhere I never expected.
  4. SPOILER Actually, I had a great time the first battle of Carentan as Germans, but I managed to wipe out five allied platoons the first game and all of their tanks, so the subsequent four or five battles were kind of boring.
  5. True enough. You, my dear sir, are damned hardcore.
  6. I've been sitting for the last ten minutes watching the posts click closer and closer to 100K. THIS IS NUMBER 100,000!!! WOOHOO!!!! P.S. I hope there aren't 20 messages just like this in a sec. Jeff Fraser --- Proud Owner Of The 100,000 Award
  7. I'm interested only in the tactical employment of Axis Sharpshooters versus Allied Hamsters.
  8. Okay, another gripe. Setting No Man's Land to zero was very helpful, and the front line is very nice now, but why does CM have to pick up my units and scatter them all over the place each new battle? I don't mind normally, but when you're dealing with a Battalion+ like in Arnhem Bridge, it's very frustrating. JUST LEAVE MY GUYS ALONE, GODDAMNIT!!!
  9. You need to click on CMHQ Scenario Depot, not Scenarios/Operations. In what way is 1.0 different from .99, the one I'm playing right now.
  10. Great replies, guys! Thanks! I'll try the 80m no man's land, and the 0m in Arnhem Bridge.
  11. That's it! I've frigging had it with operations. I've only had a couple even decent experiences with them, and the rest were sucksville. My one and only quibble with them is the frontline movement and the subsequent troop re(tard-like)deployments. Why do my troops have to move back at all? I don't get that. I favour the defence, you see, so I always get the ****ty end of the stick in operations. Attacking operations have been my only good experiences so far. I don't want my damned troops moving at all. Have a dynamic frontline, around MY troops. If anything, frontline movements should favour the defender, to simulate the attacker backing off to reorganize. Defenders shouldn't be pushed off of hard-won positions merely because the attacker got CLOSE to it. I hate having to painstakingly replace my guys in their positions(especially with a Bn+) each battle. That's a piss off. This needs to be fixed, dang it. Sorry if this was written in a poor tone, I'm kind of steamed over the annoyance of having to redeploy the 2nd Para every round in Pak40's outstanding(so far) Arnhem Bridge Operation.
  12. Thanks! I searched under 1.04 bugs, but came up dry.
  13. Now, I'm not sure if this is a new bug for 1.04, or maybe not a bug at all because I've never played "Night At Cheneux" before. SPOILER My Ostwind has 65000+ rounds of HE!!! What? Is this historically accurate? Well, probably not. 65000 rounds of 37mm would take more space than that Ostwind has. Bug, then. Has anyone else seen this?
  14. Sorry, bad phrasing. First 60 seconds after the attack began, around turn 3-5 or so.
  15. One suggestion. . . SPOILER DON'T HAVE AN ENTIRE REGIMENT OF ARMOR AND HTs REINFORCE THE GERMANS ON THE SECOND DAY!!! My little company was basically hardpressed against the infantry and AA guns, but the arrival of 5+ Panthers and innumerable HTs and AA guns ended it for me. My little 57mm AT gun, preciously preserved, didn't stand a chance.
  16. I loved this scenario, though I haven't beaten it yet. SPOILER BELOW!!!! Actually, this scenario gave me perhaps the worst kick in the nuts of any of them so far, as the Allies. On my left, a pair of tanks smashed through my pathetic little defensive position there, at the road, and was immediately followed by at least a couple platoons of fast-moving, hard-hitting infantry. What I found most impressive about this move was the raw speed and shock of it. They had smashed into my rear in the first minute of the attack, and followed up with unstoppable forces. I've never had a defense come apart on me like that before! WOW!!!
  17. Okay, I'm going to upgrade my video card, and I need to know a few things. . . 1) How do I know if I've got/need an AGP or PCI card? I've got an RIVA 128ZX right now. . . 2) How do I check what kind of motherboard I have? I've heard of serious conflicts between some of the cards I've looked at and socket7 motherboards. 3) What cards work well with CM? I know to stay away from anything Voodoo from the problems on this forum. Thanks for your help!! [This message has been edited by JeffRaider (edited 08-14-2000).]
  18. This reminds of those aliens of Galaxy Quest and the "Historical Documents".
  19. OH YEAH? WELL, ONE TIME I HAD A COMPANY OF STUARTS, RIGHT? SO I SEE A PAIR OF TIGERS, RIGHT? I WHIP THE WHOLE STUART CO. AROUND THE TIGERS' FLANK, RIGHT? AND THEN THEY ALL DIED!! EVERY ONE OF THEM! Oh. Maybe my story didn't fit as well.
  20. YES to a roster. I'd like one that showed normal strength, casualties and ammo. That's it. You don't like it? Don't use it! Anything that lets me see the overall picture a little quicker is a good thing, I think.
  21. I just downloaded the V4V series, and it's great! One question/gripe, though. . . I'm getting EXTREMELY sluggish mouse movement. I have to lift my mouse up three or four times to roll to the top of the screen. Anyone have any ideas?
