Finding/Buying/Building Tank Models
Stoffel replied to Basebal351's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
If you live in the US you should look for Francois Verlinden products. The better modelling shops have stuff from him. He wrote a series of magazines that explains all steps and all aspects of modelling. Very usefull. His products are expensive but worth the money. -

OT: Games to compliment CM... need suggestions
Stoffel replied to Mr. Clark's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
One of the older games I play sometimes is Across the Rhine from Microphose. You can play fictional and historical battles. Like cm it is batalionsize, only not in 3d but 2d. Fun thing about this game(it has many shortcomings too) ,you have to choose ammoloads and you have to distribute fuel. After each battle you get replacements. vehicles can break down or you can put units out of action if they get shot up to bad. Oh and you can play as the commander of each individual vehicle and shoot the enemy yourself. For navygames try Harpoon. -
The German counterattack to retake Kharkow in 1943 is a good one for a battle. Fierce streetfighting. The encirclement at Demyansk. The attack on Poltava is also a good one. There are to much battles on that front.

Simple question for German specialist
Stoffel replied to frag's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
Heer is regular army Volkssturm is a kind of reserve army(most old man and children 12 to 15 years old) SS has its own army with different names for ranks. There are several types of units A grenadier is a regular infantrysoldier(riflesquad) Panzergrenadiers are what we nowadays call armored infantrysoldiers.(I was one too)they have overall better equipment and weapons and drive around in armored troopcarriers (halftracks for the Germans most hanomag 251/1 and some specialist supportvehicles. there are sturmtruppen or assaulttroops very good for attacking fortified positions And you have securitytroops or sicherungssquads, they are very suitable for defending objects(towns, bridges and so on.) Hope your satisfied. -

What small arms weapons are absent in CM?
Stoffel replied to Tiger's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
For the germans the MP28 and 35 these were smg used mainly by the SS. The magazine was placed on the side of the weapon, and was therefore easy to handle in trenches or foxholes. For the US the M3 smg? -
Please don't call that name again otherwise I have to..... ------------------ h.s. [This message has been edited by Stoffel (edited 09-04-2000).]

In one of my current pbem games I have lost two tanks. This happened because they would not fire smoke. I gave them both an order to fire smoke grenades but instead both times they reversed when an enemy tank aproached them. And what was more horrible they targeted a mortarcrew and an infantryunit some 100meters away from them.Needless to say they were both knocked out. How can this happen? Why didn't they just execute the order I have given them, I have upgraded to 1.05 anyone?

I known but the contract to supply the Us army with new ones was awarded to a Belgian company who originally made the M-16 in licence. I thought it was FN they made a better offer than Colt I have that info somewhere can't find it though.

OT. Fallschimgewehr clip position?
Stoffel replied to Jarmo's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
If you mean the FG42 than the boxmagazine with 20 rounds has its place on the left at the side of the rifle. -
Ahh the MAG a perfect weapon to shoot with. I have fired many rounds with it. Only thing that bothers me compared to the M-60 was the difference in weight. The MAG was a tough and heavy weapon to carry on patrol. The Belgian arms factories did well in the US though. FN herstal won the competiton for its Minimi and the M16 were issued by them as well ,or am I wrong about that.
