  1. Lane: You could ask your library to pick one up. I do that every now. They enjoy helping me out and they know others will enjoy it too. Plus since it's an old release it's only about 10 dollars instead of 70-90 dollars for a new release.
  2. I’ve enjoyed Alec Guinness since I was a little kid. I’ve seen all his movies, most more than once. I’d like to add one more movie to the list above and that was “Hitler the Last Ten Days”. He looked and acted so much like him it was spooky. Marcusm, I know you can get Tunes Of Glory on VHS, they have it at my Library. “After playing the disciplined, inflexible Colonel Nicholson in River Kwai, three years later he played the opposite-the boorish, hard drinking Scottish Lt. Col. Jock Sinclair in “Tunes of Glory” He once described it as his favorite film role-“Perhaps the best thing I’ve ever done”. - Newsday
  3. Oh, I’m sure that will do. It may even be over kill for you system though. What speed is your machine? There has been some discussion on video cards so if you do a search you’ll probably learn more than you wanted to know.
  4. USAF ’76 to ’80. Stationed at Norton AFB California and Lajes Field Azores. Anybody been to the Azores?
  5. Last I heard, which was over a week ago, he was trying to figure out how to resolve the problem of how to determine the winner of a draw without having to do a replay. I’ve never played a PBEM game before but if you want Jadayne I’ll play you something small, say a 500 point meeting engagement, just to get used to the mechanics of emailing files.
  6. Hey David, I just sent a package to a Drew Aitken in East Kilbride, works for MicroTech, any relation? As far as this thread goes, I just wanted to say I spent some time in the fair city of Amarillo, in the Pan Handle of Texas where it’s so flat you can see for a hundred miles and if you stand on a Tuna fish can you can see for another hundred. The only variation in the terrain are depressions in the ground. The Texans there have a dozen or so different names for them. E.g.: stream, wash, ravine, arroyo, gully, valley, canyon… they have more names for a gully than Eskimo’s have names for snow.
  7. Shouldn’t the Victory flags on a Probe be closer to the front line than an Attack/Assault. Should the Attacker get less points for killing an individual as the odds against the defender increase?
  8. I use all the Mods myself without a problem. If you have a good sound system I’d use the quieted “exit explosion”. The 1st time I quit the game without using this Mod it sounded like my house blew up.
  9. I think I still have a SL T-shirt with the Lt. Stahler around here somewhere. And Col. Klotz the scenarios and maps are a thing of beauty. I've been waiting twenty years to see this. Can't wait to give them a try.
  10. Boy Mike, hesitate a minute and somebody beats you to the post. Also WW if you go to the bottom of Combat HQ's page there are a host of other sites dedicated to Combat Mission.
  11. Here's the address to the candy store: http://combathq.thegamers.net/ Happy downloading and welcome aboard.
  12. Your Madness, These last few days I’ve been getting an email about the operation “Last Stand of the II SS Panzer Division” but when I go to download it I get a “Page Cannot Be Found”. I’m using IE 5.0. I haven’t had any problem with any of the other scenario’s. Wassup?
  13. One of the things I’ve noticed is that enemy units which have broken are far more less likely, if at all, to return to the battle if there are no HQ’s to rally them.
  14. I too am now using every Mod/Texture without any problem what so ever. My only grouse was the Exit Explosion. Wow . I now have the Mod that cuts the sound level in half and everything is fine
  15. I belive 1.02 is for the Demo only. V1.03 should be out very shortly for the released version.
  16. I thought it was a Norwegian Blue pinning for the fiords
  17. Breaks my heart… I've been to the Museum when it was in Mattituck (a small town on the north fork of long Island). It not only has an excellent collection of vehicle's but a whole range of arms and equipment. A lot of things from WWII, Panzerfaust/schrecks, MG42's, uniforms. They had several diorama's that were extremely well done. Every afternoon on the weekends they would start up a vehicle and run around a little (it was a small place). When I was there they had a MarkIV maneuver around. It turned out that not only were they running out of room but the neighbors started complaining about the noise (No good lousy sons of …). I thought they were moving to PA. Where exactly is Danville, on the coast or closer to the Shenendoah?
  18. I was on the assault playing a quick Battle when an enemy squad broke from a fox hole and ran into a nearby woods. It sure would have been something to see if I could have my flame-thrower in the back of a half-track run over there and flame them before the squad had a chance to recover.
  19. I don’t have the Manual here to confirm it but I thought I read that “tall pines have thick undergrowth”
  20. – possible spoiler- In V.O.T. when the Panther came on, I bombarded it with 105’s and immobilized it. The crew did not bail out but kept firing on any target that went by. I had two Sherman's crest the hill near by and started firing at it. About 5 shots ricocheted off the side turret in less than a minute when the crew decided to bail out (whew).
