  1. Actually, I didn't know that. What a thing to come home from a VERY long day's work to see - I was wanting it too. BTS....I love you man. Goodnight folks.
  2. What is the unit cost on that? Gotta' be big, I'm betting...
  3. Yes, Apex, that made my morning! Fun AND educational.
  4. I love the Campaign series, TOAOW and I am a Sim Jock myself. I never liked jets, though...well, except for Mig Alley. Fire and forget is just not my thing . CM is a special game, and I agree that it's nice to see a company follow through so well on their product. What sucks is that we know the difference at all. For as much as I have spent on computer games over the years I just came to expect and work around bugs, sloppiness and poor AI. CM is as stable as Starcraft but with tons more depth and playability. And yet the patches keep coming. I hated Screaming Demons Over Europe because, although it looked so nice, it was just a huge mess. The only real improvements I ever saw were 3rd party. It was a damned shame, because it had such promise, you know? I would still like to see a few things in CM, but honestly it's just fine if they never change a thing...well, TCI/IP, but hey... In fact, this game has completely changed the way I will look at all further purchases: I know what my $50 is worth now, so stick your half-finished, bug-ridden, bad-playing "Game" straight up your A**!!!! Ehem. You get the point....
  5. THumpre, I e-mailed you. I am running 1.04 at the moment, and if this is a problem I am happy to keep a spot open for you when you upgrade. Thanks for replying, sir.
  6. I have been puting off playing any PEBM games, partially because of a lack of time, but more probably because I like my ego right where it is. However, the urge to dash myself to bits against the rocks of human intellect has finaly overwhelmed me, so here it is: Anyone want to try a PBEM with a novice? As I probably won't be able to do more than a turn a day, it could be a slightly larger scenario, but it might be a test of your patience for the same reason. With that in mind, if you are interested throw me an e-mail. If you aren't...well...there you go. Thanks.
  7. Jager 7: Thanks very much, what an incredible bit of history. Fionn: LMFAO
  8. All I have noticed is that for a while I will seem to get all the luck, then the computer will. In a single scenario, or even a group of them it is hard to tell, but now I have played the game for around a month and I am always amazed that in one scenario I can't do anything wrong, then in the next I can't do anything right. I believe it evens out in the end - tactics notwithstanding.
  9. Outstanding job! Thank you for continuing the support and refining what is already the best game out there. Hehe, it's all about old school punk rock integrity. "F" the suits!
  10. My 2 cents. Panzer General was the game that hooked me on computer games. I was able to rent it when I got my 1st CDROM and I went 48 hours without sleep just to get every moment out of it. Panzer General 2 was a great game, but not quite as enthralling as the origional, at least for me. My brother bought me PG3D for Christmas and I played it for around a month, but it just wasn't the same for me. I think the Campaign series and TOAOW had pretty much ruined me for PG style games, although I will go back and play PG on my old DOS rig (along with Steel Panthers...) and I still get caught up in it. CM however is, for me at least, an entirely different type of game. Yes it's a Wargame, but it is something more than that. I get truly emotionally involved in a given scenario - I honestly feel "bad" when I lose a squad or a AFV due to my own carelessness. In other games I pretty much just chalk it up to the fortunes of war, but in CM...I don't know: it just matters more. So there.
  11. Great idea for a scenario. That was certainly one of my favorite scenes in that movie. Can't wait to try it! Too bad you can't model the nuns....
  12. Being a BIG WW2 aircraft fan, I gotta go with MIDWAY. The plane takes off as a Helldiver, flies to the Japanese carriers as a Corsair, spots said carriers as a Wildcat, Divebombs said carriers as a Dauntless, flies back to the Enterprise as an Avenger and crashes on the deck as a Hellcat. I was suprised I didn't see a dogfight consisting of Dr1s and Camels, followeed by a strafing run on Midway island by MIG-15s. Anal? A little... 13. I haven't noticed this myself. In fact, last night I was playing a QB, and I had some known FJs in a very low area just beyond the sight of my 60mm. It took like 4 turns of scooting around to get my team into a decent position so that it would fire at all. I have also tried to target things with a 60mm and have recieved an out of range message. Could the enemy have had a hidden arty spotter with an idea of where you were? I have taken out targets I didn't know the exact location of with area target called in by a spotter. Just my thoughts. Good luck.
  14. Speaking only for myself, I would not consider that gamey. I have the same set of limitations you have, and I can choose to deploy some of my units on the extreme flanks to guard for this. I should anyway, in the real world, I believe. Not to mention that flank is where the trees happen to offer the best cover in that scenario. The 1st time I played it in the demo, I remember sending one of my Sherms around that way just in case, so I could pivot if necessary. It's simply one of the limitations we have to deal with in PC games IMHO.
  15. It's the only reason I keep my computer! Well, that and work. And WW2 Flight Sims... OK, I was lying, but MAN, is it incredible!
