  1. I like that idea. I also like KIA’s idea. Perhaps there could be a way to toggle between the way it is now and the target cost. After highlighting a unit a little more info on the bottom of the screen would be nice i.e. ammo load.
  2. I’ve been here from the beginning. I’ll be here in the end.
  3. 1) I guess the thing to do is just post what kind of PBEM game you’re looking for. Why is it bad manners to say how many turns a day you can do and someone has to choose a side. You can always decline a game. 2) Start your own ladder/tournament. Several people here have done just that. “Perhaps bad manners/forgetfulness are more prevalent in the CM community than in others.” “….. which bears in mind that CM is a computer game, not a shrunken piece of WW2 reality which ships on a compact disc.” These don’t sound like gripes they sound more like provocation.
  4. Good to see Airheads on the forum. Teamski, have you been through Lajes Field in the Azores?
  5. I’ve played both sides (trying to avoid the phrase played myself) using the Hotseat with full FOW a couple of times and you would be surprised at which side can see what. It’s also good training on how to sneak up on people.
  6. Along the same lines as grognerd, if you purchase an armored platoon of infantry the half-tracks will be charged under “vehicles”.
  7. I sent one to Thumpre. I'm supposed to start that one. I'll send the other two a heads up.
  8. You’ve got a point there PawBroon. How many 800 point meeting engagements have you played since the tornament was brought up? How about variations of purchasing 800 points in units? I’m playing one with a neutral guy. He’s choose the Polish side and they can afford to purchase 5.5inch artillery. Wha-Hoo, on a small board that stuff can be devastating so watch out.
  9. GroupE’s was a bit of a pun but typical of my groupies they’re nowhere to be found. As for taunting I thought I’d say something like E stands for “Eliminate” all the other Groups (or Einstazgruppen and you know what they do). But since this is the Not-So Superbowl it probably means more like “Eliminated” . Of course I’m sure all the other Groups no what the A stands for in Group A .
  10. Why does it cost less for the Polish to get 4.5inch artillery support than the Americans (June-Aug 44)? Why does a veteran FO cost a lot more than a regular FO? Are you paying for veteran artillery gunners, forward observer or both. Does veteran artillery shoot more accurately (i.e. tighter pattern)? Which do you think gives more bang for the buck (pun intended)?
  11. Yes it’s still on. If you haven’t already email Stuka at: stuka@jcn1.com and let him know your in. I think he’s bee delaying things until he hears back from all the players. He’s emailed out the ground rules and plans on starting the end of August.
  12. There was a calculation done: 82 emails for a 20 turn game 2 setup emails 4 emails per turn
  13. I’d like to try the exit sound. I have a different problmem, my cat like to come in and curl up on the table near the computer when I’m playing. (I think she like the bird sounds ). When I exit CM that explosion scares the bejeezus out of her.
  14. Von Shrad is looking for a time frame for the 1st round to be completed. I don’t care how many or when emails are sent. I just brought up the timing idea because I don’t see myself logging on and checking my email every couple of hours to see if I’ve received a turn. I’ll discuss whatever emailing routine or lack there of with my opponents. The question still remains, how long should a 20 turn (82 email) game take.
  15. OK 82 emails total for a 20 turn game. Playing people in the same time zone would help. What if we tried to schedule emails at say 6pm and 8pm for one side and 7pm and 9pm for the other (for those of us who work days), maybe a couple extra on the weekends. Plan on a minimum of 4 to 6 weeks to finish a 20 turn game. Multiply that by three games per round and that’s some Banzai game playing. Of course not all the games will go 20 turns.
  16. I get about 100 emails per 20 turn game.
  17. Thats right it did say that didn't it. Sorry, don't you just want to say DO A SEARCH! What about the total emails. Anybody do the math. I'll go get the book and do some cipherin'
  18. How many emails are in a 20 turn game. Would one a day with 2 on weekends be to slow for a maximum time?
  19. I've never purchased units. I'd prefer to purchase units automatically but hey I'll give it a shot (no pun intended). Would purchasing your own units or letting the computer do it be up to the individual gamers or is this part of the skill contest to.
  20. Von Shrad wrote to us in an email: “Also, there was a mention in a return to me of set-up. This player was concerned with the possibility of a initiating player giving themselves extra points, changing the unit experience...etc. I hope this wouldn't be a problem but I could just be naive. One possibility would be for me to do the set-up and send it along choosing a password for the player. But that would mean that I would have to sit it out. If I do sit out I can also choose sides for all but I really didnt want to. What do you guys think?” I for one would trust him to do a set up and send it to me. For that matter I’d trust anyone in the tournament to do the same. After all this is the Not-So-Superbowl, not THE Superbowl. What do the rest of the N-S-S players think?
  21. Last night I setup a couple of PBEM games. One German and one American, both 500 pt, 20 turn meeting engagements on a clear day in August, medium map - farmland, medium quality and auto purchased. I can play an email a day, maybe more on the weekends. If anyone is interested in a game email me, let me know which side you want and I’ll send the file off. I’ve never done a PBEM game before so be gentle. Oh, if I email my setup to someone can they change the amount of points and the quality of their own troops without me knowing about it? Without hacking the code that is. ted_ramos@ademco.com
