  1. Mord, I assume you have Shelby Stanton's book Order of Battle: U.S. Army WWII?
  2. Although I haven't done this with the medium mortars (only 60mm), yes the crews can share ammo. If you have the MG module there have been some changes to sharing rules with regards to ammo bearers, look in the MG manual for details. Pre-Market Garden the 60mm team could only share ammo with units within the same platoon. I'm not sure if the new MG rules change this since they only mention ammo bearers. BTW, Pre-Market Garden the sharing happened automatically but only once the mortar team ran out of ammo. Once it ran out, then it would take ammo from a nearby unit if there were any to share and it still had a target command active.
  3. Steve, it seems that rather than "upping the threshold" you should probably have a much reduced deploy time if the crew needs to face a new threat. In other words, if the MG is already deployed and the TacAI deems it necessary to redeploy in a new direction, then deploy time should be reduced. Hopefully this is possibly with the current code. After all, the crew doesn't have to break down the entire gun to move over to a new window. Probably all they need to do is move whatever props/equipment over to support the gun.
  4. I used to make Org charts with Powerpoint but not for military purposes. I think you'll find it has more functionality than Word.
  5. Maybe the door is locked and barred from the inside. The owners are probably German sympathizers and don't care for you Brit folk creeping around on their property. Or it could be a bug.
  6. Steve, are you sure it's working this way? I agreed with Michael's assumption, the LOS draws to the ground if no target is in the action square. Otherwise, I can think of a million examples of why it's not working properly. It sounds like from Andrew's follow up post that the LOS is 1m above ground in the setup phase but after the setup, the LOS uses the ground as the base.
  7. I don't think there's an issue with that LOS. The unit is clearly lower than the ground it's trying to spot. It may be able to spot a unit that is on the targeted piece of ground it the targeted unit is kneeling or standing, but the ground is higher than the eyes of the spotting unit.
  8. on your and Charles's machines maybe. The rest of us need our "fix" too.
  9. Not sure I agree with you on that, after all I think BFC has these settings for a reason, but as long as the German side is equally set relative to their historical units then I'm sure it will play out as it should.
  10. Nah, not at all. Even though experienced units replace casualties with green troops, they are always mixed in with experienced troops. My opinion on this is the following in the U.S. Army: Regular Army Infantry division fresh on the front line = Green, maybe some regulars mixed in. Regular Army ID experienced (1st ID, 2nd ID etc...) = Regular with some Veterans in the mix Now everyone knows that the U.S. Paratroopers were highly trained, motivated with high esprit de corps etc... Certainly a cut above your normal Infantry Division. With that in mind: 101st Airborne should = Veterans mostly with some regulars and even elites. Even on D-Day this should be the case although the division was technically green. 82nd Airborne = Healthy mix of Veterans and Elites. The 505th PIR was the most experienced of all the 82nd regiments having seen combat back in North Africa IIRC. Just my 2 cents
  11. Try using Google Chrome. It has a translating options for html text. It can detect which language it's in and it asks you if you want it to translate. I've used it with the Dutch and French sites with varying degrees of success.
  12. PT, I'm wondering why the 505 are all Regular in The Road to Nijmegen? Going into D-Day they were one of the most trained and experienced units in the U.S. Army. Perhaps only some Ranger units would be considered better. Obviously there were casualties in Normandy and these were replaced by fresh troopers, but I think as a whole the 505 would be at least Veterans with some better troops sprinkled in.
  13. It really seems to me that you can see right past the burning vehicle for the majority of the video, especially once the traffic is stopped which was probably causing disturbances in the air flow. The smoke is mostly going UP and not really obscuring much past the burning vehicle. You can clearly see the cars stopped on the other side. Start around the 2:00 mark and you can clearly see what I mean. Hot smoke goes UP. Yes there are some times when the wind blows the smoke and passing cars causing disturbances in the smoke, but for the most part it's going UP.
  14. I suppose you mean a comprehensive updated single manual rather than the smaller new module manuals. I'd certainly be for that! I'd also like to see the manual changes highlighted in certain colors according to when the changes were implemented (i.e. green for Commonwealth, Blue for 2.0 upgrade, Red for Market Garden, etc...)
  15. This seems quite logical to me. After all, a burning vehicle is hot and hot smoke tends to rise. Why should hot smoke behave the same as smoke from grenades and smoke shells that were designed to provide cover?
  16. Do you have a sound mod of the Brits breaking out the tea set?
  17. I agree, they're a nice addition but how much more effort would it have been to offer the same houses at the 4 diagonal angles?
  18. someone who pre-ordred would not have received an email by now?
  19. OK, searching the internet for porn right now... Wow, I'm gonna have to sift through this for a while.
  20. The Commonwealth Manual was released on Feb 28, 2012, the module released only 6 days later on March 5th. It's been a frantic 10 days of F5-ing since the MG manual came out.
  21. Hey Bil, I'm really digging the graphics you're using to illustrate your tactics. Which program are you using to do this?
  22. hehe, please excuse the crap spelling. I'm not sure how widespread the ammo sharing is, they seem to hint that it's only heavy weapon units that do the sharing. Not sure about regular squads, I guess we'll find out soon enough.
  23. After pouring through the manual I found a few new tidbits of info, new to me at least Ammo Sharing: Pg. 60-61 - ammo sharing now can happen between non-organic units. Heavy weapons teams now draw ammo from neighboring units before depleting their own. Preference order is 1. Organic unit 2. non-organic unit 3. internal ammo Routing pg 61: No more routed units. Instead they will surrender. And my personal favorite - Ambush Armor pg 62 - is added to the AI editor. We will now be able to set AT guns to hold fire until armor is spotted.
