  1. Just curious.... When clearing houses, Do you like to use the assault command or do you like to split your squads and use assault teams? Why?
  2. Watch almost any Iraq combat clip on Youtube or Liveleak and see 240 and SAW gunners doing nice long bursts in a real firefight. 3 to 5 second long bursts. Why cant this be put in the game?
  3. I always look forward to someone offering this kind of education. Proceed please!
  4. Nevermind. I did some more testing. The AI is not subject to the same restrictions as a human player. In other words, Iron does not make it harder for the AI to stay in C2, only a human player. Oh well. AI has a hard enough time as is I guess.
  5. Well I did do some experimenting after reading some of the responses here and if you do a waypoint and a 10 second pause with a target command followed by a short move, 10 second pause, target command, the BMP-1 seems to only use the HE gun multiple times.
  6. More more more. The ability to set 180 degree arcs with a "shift-whatever" key combo ala CMBB. ...and for the love of god please let us select or alter the default arc neon yellow glow! Hurts my eyezzzz!
  7. Wow c3k, A trigger when the enemy enters a covered arc. I really like that idea. I wonder how hard that would be to add?
  8. This thread has made me think of somewhat of a quirk. One of the big differences between Iron skill and Elite skill is that it is harder to maintain "visual distant" C2 in Iron skill level. Red seems to rely on this form of C2 much more heavily than Blue since blue has all the gadgets. Thus C2 becomes harder for Red more so then Blue. So for the people who play Blue: Iron skill might be easier to then Elite skill due to Red having a harder time staying in C2!
  9. I enjoy watching your videos. Strange though.....what skill level are you playing? In several videos when you click on the enemy you can see their supression level (46:47 in Reservoir Ridge) and that means basic training. But other clues suggest vet level. But if it was vet skill you shouldnt see supression levels. Fun to watch though. UPDATE: I see at the end of your videos that you play vet skill level. The book says that you shouldnt see enemy supression levels. Strange.
  10. I just want to control when my BMP-1 fires its HE gun or AT missles! Geeeezzzz.
  11. No because, as we just found out, there are more stringent checks for certain C2 links in Iron vs Elite. Iron = Harder to keep C2 (visual distant for example).
  12. Again...since we are tweaking here.... 1. I want to control if my BMP-1's use the AT missle OR the HE gun. I select area fire and they shoot 1 shell then 1 AT missle and spend 60 seconds or so reloading the AT missle and not shooting anything! I just wanted to hit the area with 3 or 4 HE rounds! 2. PLEASE can we make the rubble from collapsed buildings emit smoke for 5 minutes or so AFTER they fall? I like the size of the cloud but the duration is too short IMHO. Thanks
  13. Moon that explains it perfectly! In the UK demo it is just at or before sunrise so in IRON mode the dim light would prevent mutual spotting while in ELITE mode the LOS works due to the "less stringent" spotting requirements. Thanks! It makes me think of all the people who play ELITE mode thinking that the only difference between ELITE and IRON is just many, many "same team" ?'s but now I realize that staying in C2 is quite a bit harder in IRON mode then ELITE mode (for reds anyway). So it is, indeed, harder to keep in C2 in IRON mode. IRON mode is the only mode I will play from now on. The manual was a little light in this area for me. Learn something new everyday!
  14. Thanks Stoex, I was not quite sure of what I was seeing. Will check it out.
  15. or maybe "visual distant" C2 link is not allowed under IRON mode? The manual doesnt say. Hmmmm.
  16. You can test this one yourself with the 1.30 demo (but I think it goes back to way before then). Start the UK demo as Red. In ELITE mode take your CO HQ and put them on the roof of the building they start in. Now move around the MG and/or RPG teams that report directly to the HQ unit on the roof. As you can see, if the teams have LOS to the HQ they stay in command with the "visual distant" C2 link (the pic of the upper torso). It doesnt matter where on the map you put them as long as they have LOS to HQ they are in command. Green dots support this. Now... Restart in IRON mode and do the same thing. You will see that you can NEVER get them in command with the "visual distant" link. They go from voice link (pretty close to HQ) to out of command with NO visual distant link EVER. Red dots support this. Either... ELITE mode has the bug where "visual distant" works even when it is NOT designed to. OR... IRON mode has the bug and "visual distant" is never working as a C2 link.
  17. Since we are talking about tweaks here... Are you guys finding that when an enemy section is killed and your guys do NOT see it happen the enemy ICON vanishes anyway? So now you KNOW that there is no more "alive" members of that section/ICON? Get me?
  18. Nice to see you Steve. How about answering some C2 or building/arty questions?
  19. So I have been playing the 1.30 demo and I have been dropping 155 on troops in buildings quite a bit in the UK scenario. Not only do they survive a disturbing amount of the time they still fight very well. I thought 155 was suppost to take the fight out of anybody? So not official or anything but it seems that buildings do offer quite a bit of uber protection? I dont know.
  20. Thanks for the tip on download. The video shows just how long dust hangs around after an explosion. Even after the tweak with the latest patch I think that dust disapates too quickly in the game.
  21. So I am to understand that the bad guys were in a structure? If so, "Quick" your naders to just outside the door and set an area target to inside. They should stop outside and throw frags inside. I dont have this game but this works in CMSF.
