  1. The smaller scenarios have, indeed, benefited from the expansion. I have play tested all of the ones created/improved so far and every one plays much, much better. My favourite aspect as an owner of SC2 is the modding potential of this 'tool'... SC2:WaW increases my excitement of this game by a lot. Noone will be disappointed by the smaller scenarios imho.
  2. Looks like a very nice map... look forward to using it for a scenario or two I have in the back of my mind. Should be fun to play on. I very much enjoy playing on extended maps like this.
  3. I'm up for this. My only sc2b hvh game resulted in me being soundly thrashed so I'd classify myself as a noob.
  4. I too, was wary of using such units on this kind of scale (although loved the idea of further unit types for smaller scale campaigns). However, after testing them I have reversed my position. True, they may not be 100% realistic at the large scale campaigns but this is a game not an historical recreation of WWII. As game components they are very satisfying. Watching the German panzers fall foul of a sneak counter attack by a French anti-tank unit is most satisfying as the allied player
  5. Once France falls Vichy is independent for the rest of the game no matter who's side they are on. The two sides are never reunited in SC2 (not in my experience anyway).
  6. 1) Battle of Saint-Mihiel, September 1918... Firing a German machine gun. 2) British Para at Arnham. 3) Chindit in Burma. 4) At Rourke's Drift... not a Zulu 5) Member of the 13th Light Dragoons in the Valley of Death.
  7. Also getting tanked here ND. I was dumb enough to set the AI on maximum settings for my first game. War was over by mid '42... I didn't win Love this new AI.
  8. Not a big fan of kill bill but I loved Reservoir dogs, from dusk till dawn and pulp fiction. Like Timskorn I either love his films or hate 'em.
  9. Running with bulls is something I would definitely have a go at if I ever go to Spain and the opportunity presented itself. I would also go watch a bullfight purely out of curiosity. I think that while these cultural practices may seem barbaric to some they merely show humans being humans in that particular culture's own, unique way. Cruelty to animals is a relative term... those that are bred for a particular purpose (like food or bullfighting) are hardly being treated cruelly if they are fulfilling their chosen destiny. On the other hand pinning a worm to the end of a hook and ripping apart the mouth of a wild fish is the height of barbarism to my sense of morality. I would never condemn a fisherman for practising his sport, however, just that I wouldn't do it myself. To each his own.
  10. My top 5: 1) The long and the short and the tall 2) The Desert Fox: The Story of Rommel 3) Bridge over the river kwai 4) Tobruk 5) The Dambusters I could go on but am going to stick with five as the original post asked for. As regards more recent movies I did like SPR and Pearl Harbour... however in the usual Hollywood style I find the main actors and actresses all to similar in appearance and have trouble identifying who is who (Not really a fault of the film I suppose... more like my ignorance of who these actors are). Film stars these days seem to lack any real 'character' and are all 'beautiful people'... lets have some ugly (Read: normal looking) guys/gals up on the screen again, so muppets like me can tell them apart! ;p
  11. I bought the whole series on a special edition along with the andosian war... splendid series!
  12. I love the battle isle series. 'Incubation' and BI3 are my games of choice in that series. I also play Heroes of M&M III, disciples II, Thule, Hattrick, and SC2:WaW (apologies, AZGungHo). I also play a whole host of board games with a local gaming group. Sadly there is less and less time for games these days :/
  13. I play on max settings and find it a reasonable challenge. I find the AI never gets close to taking serbia though as it's strategy sucks (Indeed... The end usually comes from the serbs taking the central power's capitals). But the West and East plays out really well. The Naval cat and mouse game is interesting too.
  14. I second this... as a bonus it would be my first hvh game with SC2 if you accept
  15. @targul sounds like this is the perfect place for you then Welcome to the family! HvH is just a way of saying human versus human. Personally I usually play only against the ai myself and have spent the time making it more of a challenge via the scripts. I also enjoy using the editor to create scenarios. If you do ever fancy a different challenge then I can recommend CMMods at www.cmmods.com
  16. If luck is such a factor then how can you know the outcome of a game over such a short number of turns? The only way to be certain is if luck plays no major part, surely?

  18. Blashy you won't be disappointed... this mod has me hooked. I have played this many times over the last 2 or 3 weeks... it's a fun scenario.
  19. Yeah, I have just spent the weekend updating the Cyprus mod and introducing new graphics... the old ones were a little untidy imho. Check out the Turkish airfleets, they are another of my creations... F100d Super Sabres. I am very happy with them 8-) Hope you like both mods. My next mod is going to be another 'different' one... more on that in due course
  20. Bring back national service to the UK too. Wish I had had it as a youth... shame they ever stopped it.
  21. I would go for that... if only because I would just qualify as a young gunner... and that's something that doesn't seem to happen much these days. At work we played a staff charity softball game (like baseball) and over 35 was considered to be the senior team... I had a mid-life crisis right there and then! So the chance to be a junior again is too good to pass up ;p
  22. Dave, I could not agree more. Most wars of recent times have been for dubious reasons as far as I can tell. 'To stop the spread of communism', 'To depose somebody else's dictator', 'civil (an interesting use of the term) wars' and 'wars of religion' to name but a few. Just goes to show how far we have to go before we really become 'evolved'.
  23. Version 1.01 has been put on CMMODS. I have made several changes as discussed in the earlier posts (including toning down the graphics colours).
