  1. Since including such "non-historical" units would require extra work (coding them in, textures, updated models) and the fact that it would also require some sort of toggle or what not to allow or disallow them to be purchased along with code for the AI to know if it can buy such units AND since we are already on a VERY tight schedule, dont count on them being added. Law of design, do what you HAVE TO in order to meet your design goal then, and only IF there is time, THEN you can add some other stuff. In this case, we aint gonna have the time so don't get your hopes up. As the past has shown, including all the HISTORICAL stuff is hard enough already. Madmatt
  2. I know you said the problem is fixed but I have a question. Were you trying to load scenarios that you created or ones that came with the game? Madmatt
  3. Load the game first on one computer. Once the main menu comes up you can take the disc out and load it on the second computer. The disc is only required when the game first boots. Madmatt
  4. As stated on the order pages, CMBB will not function with the SiS 650 series. Here is a link to more info on this: https://www.combatmission2.com/cmbb_sis650.html Madmatt

  6. I would think the shared IRQ could be causing the problem. Try moving the sound card to a different physical slot and see if that will allow you to change the IRQ. On some motherboards various slots are assigned certain IRQ's but you really dont want the video and sound shared like that. Madmatt
  7. The CDV AVI movie is located in the AVI folder at the root of the CMBO folder. You can simply delete the entire folder or just the movie file inside without harm and the game will launch normally, it will not hang. The Retail version of CMBO does NOT have the intro that came with the Battlefront.com version. Madmatt
  8. A P3-866 is a Pentium processor. I dont think the guy above realized you were running a Mac. Both problems you describe our due to the video extensions you have installed that are improperly reporting the amount of VRAM available. You *may* be able to resolve this by installing different (newer?) extensions for you video card. Be advised though that MX cards are nortiously poor performers and they are actually based on the previous generation of cards than what they are called. What that means is that (essentially) a GF2 MX is really a GeForce 1 card and a GeForce 3 MX is really a GeForce 2. Madmatt [ July 17, 2003, 04:28 PM: Message edited by: Madmatt ]
  9. Some versions of Windows already come with the Indeo video codec pre-installed. Others do not. Apparently at one time Microsoft and Indeo had a dispute and MS decided to pull the codec from Windows altogether. Later on Indeo decided they were going to start charging for this same codec (I guess as a snub to MS). The solution to this problem is very easy. Browse to the AVI folder that is installed with CMBO and delete it. This will allow the game to install without asking for the codec or playing the short (13 seconds) CDV logo movie. We have contacted CDV about this issue and they are looking into it. What is weird is that apparently that video should not even require the indeo codec but for some reason some copies of Windows has that codec incorrectly associated with certain types of AVI's. I have updated the online CMBO troubleshooting guide with this fix. Madmatt [ July 17, 2003, 12:45 AM: Message edited by: Madmatt ]
  10. How many bombs are you seeing being dropped with each pass and total? Do you have save files from each turn that the planes attack that you can send me? Planes use strafing runs at their own discretion and they may choose not to strafe at all, but if they are indeed dropping more ordnance than they carry then I need to see some save games that show it. 11. Guys, this is not a bug but rather a limitation of how the code works with regards to HQ's. Basically the game can not "promote" a unit to be a HQ between battles so it must use an existing HQ to take over. Having Infantry HQ's take over for a killed vehicle Platoon HQ in Operations was the easiest way to do this. It was either that or not have ANY HQ assume command of a vehicle platoon. So you may disagree with this design decission but it will not (as far I know) change in CMAK. Madmatt
  12. The caption for that last picture with me looking at a peice of paper should say.... "Hmmm....Let me check my list here...Yup, they're all losers!" Madmatt
  13. Urefinger, be advised that this thread and its like have rules of conduct as laid down by me and the other members of this thread itself. Your crossing the line my boy so you would be better off scaling back your involvement in this thread. If you continue in the same tone anbd language that your earlier posts used it could lead to your banishment from the forum itself. Are we clear? Everyone in this particular thread is here to have fun, enjoy the game and pick good CLEAN fun at one another. Keep your posts above board, mature and itelligent and we will all get along fine. Cross the line and its my big size 15 boot your gonna run into. Madmatt [ July 14, 2003, 11:08 PM: Message edited by: Madmatt ]
  14. Battles usually don't occur during full blown sand storms and to the best of my knowledge we have no plans on modeling them. The display of small dust and sand clouds should not pose any problems with Radeons as they are not rendered using Fog Tables. Madmatt [ July 10, 2003, 09:27 PM: Message edited by: Madmatt ]
  15. Are you running with the 1.03 patch? I created a test situation in order to test this and I could not replicate your results. I made a small map with a big hill bisecting it. One long road ran from map end to map end. I placed some roadblocks and barbed wire on the 'obscured' side of the hill. One the other side was a T-34. I gave him a single MOVE waypoint along the road (through the obstructions). His waypoint was not replotted around the unseen roadblocks. I even changed his waypoint to be right ON where the roadblocks were but he still did not change his waypoint around them while they were unseen. Make sure the TacAI is not just plotting around some terrain object instead of the roadblock. Can any of your other units see the roadblock? If you have a save game (a screenshot wont tell me anything) please email it to me directly. Thanks! Madmatt [ July 09, 2003, 06:54 PM: Message edited by: Madmatt ]
  16. Okay kiddies, settle down now. If you want to *discuss* some of Sealions (ahem) suggestions, you can do so without getting nasty. Lets lock this one up for the time being though. Remember, discussions on theoritical weapons go in the General Discusion forum, not here. By the way, employement of air to ground rockets was pretty common place in WWII and these are of course modeled in game. Madmatt
  17. Yup, not only Columbus but Cincinnati (where I am) got pummeled all weekend. I was also without power for a few hours over the weekend and briefly today. Mother nature has been hitting the SouthWest Ohio region HARD lately. Madmatt
  18. You said your using the latest drivers but please make sure they are version 44.03 as I have reports from other FX5000 series card owners that this driver version fixed there text color problem. Madmatt
  19. Also be sure and disable any Instant Messenger software you might be running in the background. While this issue can be caused by a faulty internal clock in some PC's (which is why he asked if you had a Dell or Sony above), it can also be triggered by certain Instant Messenger software. 20. When you install from the CD, a new folder called MODS is also created in your CMBO game directory. In there you will find all the additional graphics mods broken down by author as well as information on each mod. The mods located there must be manually installed in order to view them in game. Each mod is packed as a .zip file and should include installation instructions and info on the mod as well. You can view previews of many of the mods and read more info about all that's new in CMBO:SE by opening the "Click Me First.html" document that is located at the root of the CMBO folder, once the game is installed. I believe a desktop icon is also created for that same document. Once the game is installed to your computer the whole CMBO directory should be about 517 megs. The Hi-Res terrain graphics, sound effects and new scenarios come pre-installed for you. Madmatt [ June 30, 2003, 11:50 AM: Message edited by: Madmatt ]
  21. Repairs are handled already in the time between battles of a operation. Since repairs were rarely conducted while under fire in real life we do not allow stuff like that in a single battle. As to the sounds in CMBB, well, you are free to have your opinion but I can assure you that they have much more OOMPF than they did in CMBO and I would know, I recorded and mixed them... 22. Thanks guys. I haved added all the sites mentioned above. Some sites like Appue-Feu I wanted to add before but for some reason I didn't have the proper URL's for them until now. Madmatt [ June 26, 2003, 04:19 PM: Message edited by: Madmatt ]
