  1. I don't know how this got overlooked until now but I just today added a "Community" section to the CMBB area with a current list of CMBB websites. Please email me directly if you know of some other sites that are still active that I left off. Webmasters, let me know if you have any animated GIF style icons (like you see for some sites listed) you would like me to add. Thanks! http://www.battlefront.com/products/cmbb/websites.html Madmatt [ June 25, 2003, 06:39 PM: Message edited by: Madmatt ]
  2. Actually while CMBO will not need any patches applied to it, the CD for CMBB will need the 1.03 patch applied as the current shipping version is still 1.02. Madmatt
  3. It's far too early to even suggest anything. Remember the CMX2 engine is at least another full year away if not more. Madmatt
  4. You must patch the CDV version with the CDV patches otherwise the game will not function/load properly. If you don;t have luck getting the patches from CDV you can try this file mirror which all three patches in both Euro (which is what you will need) and Domestic BF versions. http://www.3dgamers.com/games/combatmission2/ Madmatt
  5. It is not that we do not want to do anything to resolve this issue, the fact is that due to how the problem is manifesting itself, being a core driver fault occuring with a specific system config, there is nothing we CAN do to code around it. We have contacted ATI about the issue as well as Apple but to date neither has done anything positive to rectify the issue. We do post a warning on our order page for Mac users with a 9000 series video card detailing this issue. If any new info comes out I will update this thread. Madmatt
  6. What sort of wind was there in the battle? The higher the wind the less the duration of smoke. Also shell diameter also affects smoke duration and size, so you will get bigger and longer lasting smoke plumes as your arty increases in size. Madmatt
  7. Yes, that sounds about right. CMBB when uncompressed takes up about 1.3 gigs and thats without any mods. Madmatt
  8. I am not aware of any issue with our email but you can contact me at: matt@battlefront.com support@battlefront.com Try also Press@battlefront.com If none of those work reply back to this thread and we can try a different route. Madmatt [ June 13, 2003, 12:37 PM: Message edited by: Madmatt ]
  9. Actually it was the word "Bull****" that was considered cussing. Make sure CMBO is patched up to 1.12 (I think thats what you meant though). Send me the file that was made in CMBO:SE as I want to have a look at it. Thanks! Madmatt
  10. Are you skipping the intro movie? IIRC if you skip the intro movie (or press any key during the boot up) you won't get the music. The music is not set up to play at the menu at all time, just during the first boot and ONLY if you don't skip the intro. Madmatt
  11. Um...okay. I am closing this topic up now then. Madmatt
  12. Sounds like you might have renamed your original .exe file which is why you get 1.02 with your desktop shortcut. Do you see two Combat Mission stlye .exe files in your game folder? The v1.03 version is called CombatMission2.exe and has a file date of 5/21/2003. Make a desktop shortcut to that file and that should launch 1.03. Madmatt
  13. The reason you can't use the CMBO:SE disc with a old copy of CMBO or vice versa is due to CDV's copy protection which they added to the game which is not present on the Battlefront.com version. You have to remember that CMBO:SE is really intended for NEW customers and it is distributed by CDV and as such they can and have made their own changes to it to fit in with their policies, such as adding this type of copy protection. This does not mean that someone with a CMBO:SE cant play someone with CMBO, it just means you can't swap the CD's from one game with the other. Don't forget, even without a disc in the drive you can still play multiplayer. If I understand your specific problem, I am not clear on why you just dont install the CMBO:SE version on your laptop and use that CD there and use your original CMBO disc in your desktop. They will play each other fine. Sorry you are so upset about it but I don't see the issue here nor does it give you permission to cuss like that. 14. Hmmmm...a CMX2 bone you say eh? Okay...prepare yourself. CMX2 WILL NOT BE DONE THIS YEAR... There ya go..Enjoy the bone. Madmatt
  15. That error indicates the patch was not installed to the proper folder. It's probably launching from a new folder and thats why it can't find the OpenPlay files. Reinstall the patch and ensure you point it to install into your existing CMBB folder. Madmatt [ June 08, 2003, 04:28 PM: Message edited by: Madmatt ]
  16. I have been testing this all day and have not been able to replicate the problem. I tested CDV 1.03 to Battlefront 1.03 (PC), CDV 1.03 to Battlefront 1.03 (Mac), I hosted and joined and made sure to test both QB's and pre-existing scenarios. All connections/combinations worked. What language is the CDV version you are playing with? I have been testing with the German version. If you have a problem try switching who hosts and who joins and see if that makes a difference. 17. This thread is off topic so I am going to close it up now. If you wish, start it anew in the general forum but I am not going to move it as it is just barely skirting by being troll bair with some of the stuff being posted within. Madmatt
  18. Seems the original issue has been resolved now. Nothing to see here. Madmatt
  19. Seems Dan has a good job of answering the questions brought up in this thread but let me make it clear that there is NO "UI" utility in CMBO or CMBO:SE that, as the poster claims, allow you to change resolutions in the game. I am not sure where he got that info from. There are several thrird party utilities out on the web that allow you to do that yourself but we never made one or included with CM. Madmatt
  20. I am not sure what your last comment was supposed to mean but we did not code anything specific in 1.03 with regards to the CD check than what was in 1.02, 1.01 and the original 1.0 release. All versions of CMBB require the CD to be inserted for reasons that we have gone over dozens on times in the past. If Virtual-CD no longer works because of the 1.03 patch it was certainly not intentional or coded that way but we also won't loose any sleep over it. Madmatt
  21. Sounds like a Anti-Aliasing issue. You can workaround it one of a few ways. #1 is to just alt-tab out of the game and back in. That should do the trick. #2 a more pemanent fix would be to upgrade to the 30.82 series drivers. They will allow you to run anti-aliasing with no problems. #3 You could upgrade to the new 44.03 drivers but you would have to disable Full Screen Anti-Aliasing. You do this from the Display Properties control panel in windows. #4 You can keep your current drivers but still disble Anti-Aliasing as mentioned above. Madmatt
  22. We have a lot of ideas on the table about how textures will be handled in CMX2 but NONE of them would keep people from being able to mod. If anything we are going to try and make the new engine MORE mod friendly, not less. We love mods, we use mods, hell without mods Fernando, Dan and myself probably would have never gotten hired. We haven't forgotten what Mods mean to CM and would not do something which would eliminate modding. Madmatt
  23. Send it to me, I can convert it for you. I will need your password. Madmatt [ June 06, 2003, 06:11 PM: Message edited by: Madmatt ]
  24. There are no plans for a 1.04 patch. All future work is now aimed at CMAK and CMX2. Madmatt
  25. You can install over 1.03 beta with no problems. Actually the HQ thing didn't make it into 1.03. We looked into to it but it would have required much more coding and testing than we deemed worthy. Bottom line is that it affects all sides equally the same and the vast majority of players would never (and didn't until recently) notice it. Madmatt
