  1. MikeyD, Sure Xmas is important but its a relatively short period of time. We are much more interested in getting reviews to pop AFTER the end of the year then right now. CMAK was only released a few weeks ago so right now we are riding on that initial buzz and servicing all the thousands of current CM players but after the holidays we will need a way to keep that excitement going. By having big media reviews come out staggered in time we can inject that excitement and increase our potential customer base every few months and produce nice consitent sales which will continue far beyond the life of other games. Remember, we aren't amatuers at this and while other publishers post lame reports on their future prospects or release really bug ridden uplayable games we keep on chugging along at our own pace and contineu to do what we do best, make quality games that last a LONG LONG time. 2. Actually, let ME say it officially. TOO EARLY for a CMX2 forum. After over 3 years of developement and time spent in the CMBO, CMBB, CMAK, we are pretty well set with what we want to do in CMX2. Does that mean we don't want to hear your idea's for CMX2. Um, yeah it sorta does, at least not yet. Madmatt
  3. With CMBB you will need about 1.5 gig or so free on your harddrive in order to install the game. Madmatt
  4. We sent the ATI guy some more info and all of your observations. Have not heard anything new yet from them yet. We are hoping to get them to correct the opaque smoke issue that these new drivers still do not address. Even with the smoke looking like the *fast and compatable version* overall these drivers are a huge step forward and possibly indicate that ATI now considers us a company and game worth properly supporting in their drivers...On the Mac side at least. Soon as I hear anything more I will let you know. Anyone else that would like a copy of these beta drivers to test, email me directly and I will send them to you. Madmatt
  5. Only CMAK has an uninstaller built in so thats not a problem. You can move those other games at will. Just be sure and modify or create new shortcuts which point to the updated location. Matt
  6. There is no underground movement as such, it was all abstracted in CMBB when units moved through sewers. Sewer Movewment was taken out of CMAK because, as said in other threads, it was not a prominent issue with combat in NA and Italy. Since this is not a technical issue, I am closing this thread up. Madmatt
  7. Don't trust Dell's drivers, just go right to the source and grab the latest from Nvidia. Madmatt
  8. Yankeedog, what driver version are you running? Can the other people that were getting errors during install please try and launch into Safe Mode and then run the install from there. I am very interested in seeing what you find. Madmatt [ December 17, 2003, 11:33 AM: Message edited by: Madmatt ]
  9. Obviously we can't and will not condone using a crack for our game. All I can say is that we are currently testing a patch to this problem and I will hopefully have info on this shortly. Madmatt
  10. Seems there are two different errors being reported here. a "Source file is Corrupt" error is usually caused by a bad disc. But a "I/O 23" or "cyclic redundancy check" error is usually triggered by a virus checking program and can be cured by disabling or even uninstalling the virus program prior to install. Seems McAfree usually triggers that I/O error as it tried to scan inside an archive file as its installing. Ted, whats your status, did your replacement fix the problem? Kurt, it *could* be a second bad disc, but my gut feeling is that its something else (virus program running). Check on that and let me know what you find. Madmatt
  11. Dell may not be hosting the most current drivers. There was a bug in some older ones which exhibited extreme slowdowns in various games. Grab the newer drivers directly from www.nvidia.com instead or, you might want to use a set of older drivers which I still feel are the best performing ones for your card. They are version 30.82 and can be found in the Archives area of the Nvidia page. The Archive page can be accessed once you select your video card and OS type in the Driver section. Madmatt
  12. There is also a confirmed bug in the CDV version with TCP/IP play which we are working with them to get fixed as soon as possible. Madmatt
  13. Just the webpage with the mods was rushed, not the mods themseleves. I promised Marco and Gordon I would get their latest CMAK and CMBB mods posted at CMHQ as soon as I could so even though the new site design is far from complete I went ahead and whipped up a new page to host these mods. The mods are for the Matilida II's and a variety of German Flak vehicles. They are not yet CMMOS compatable but those versions should be coming soon. Here are a few pics to whet your appetites but the hell with thumnails, go ahead and grab them! Grab them at CMHQ and enjoy. Madmatt p.s. I will be working on some sound mods and other goodies soon as well! [ December 15, 2003, 05:08 PM: Message edited by: Madmatt ]
  14. The game requires 800x600 or higher as indicated in the Specifications and Order pages. That screen check thats runs in the begining when it is first installed is not a function of the game though, but rather of DirectX and Direct Draw so it's not something we can alter or force to only allow a certain batch of resolutions. That video check merely goes through every supported resolution and refresh rate your video card is reporting that it supports regardless if it will work in the game or not. 15. Make sure that when you unzipped the files they did not in turn create NEW directories under the Scenarios folder itself. The game will only show files at the root of that folder, not in any sub directories. You will probably also need to patch CMBB, even though you bought it a few months ago I believe the version of the CD is still 1.0 as we are not yet shipping 1.03 on disc (since it would not fit). See the download page for details. But you will more than likely need to download and install the 1.01, 1.02 and finally the 1.03 patches in order. Madmatt
  16. Yes, let me post a little update here. Completely out of the blue, a rep. from the ATI Mac driver design team contacted me to let me know that they have a new pending driver release that he says ADDRESSES the pyschodelic color issue on Mac's with Radeon 8500-9000 and 9000 mobility chips. We are currently running tests on this new driver but early tests seem very positive. If anyone here has this problem and would like to try this driver (which I hasten to add is still a beta) then contact me via email and I will send you the file for you to test. This does not change the OS-X incompatability issue, this is a 9.x driver only. As soon as we have tested this driver some more and gotten the OK from ATI I will be making an announcement here and if allowed will host the file for local download. 17. His name is David Pentland and is a very cool and talented guy. A search on google with his name will give you lots of examples of his work, many of which are for sale. Madmatt
  18. Okay, I thinks enough fun for one thread. Hey look, here comes Mom! Everyone say "Hi"... Madmatt
  19. What do you mean "in the background"? Do you mean outside the game? There is not a similar delay because there is not a several hundred meg application running at the same time taxing your system overhead. For whatever reason you system seems to have trouble playing the ambient samples. If you have access to a decent sound editing package you might want to try and convert the backgrounds from stereo to mono. That will reduce their size by half which might do the trick, but they wont sound the same. Other than that, not sure what else for you to check. Madmatt
  20. Seems I missed all the fun from pages 2 and 3 as its all edited now. I can only imagine what Kitty might have said about me, but rest assured, it was probably deserved. Now, move on people before I go and change the font size on the forum again! Madmatt
  21. For the record guys I WAS kidding when I mentioned Mace specifically. It was meant to be taken as a good natured ribbing. Still, the truth of the matter was unlike all the other voices which I recorded or had recorded, aquiring suffecient Aussie samples was very difficult. Since CMBB, we have also hired professional voice actors to do the gist of our voices. This was done because normally the average quality of samples that people send me require hours upon hours of re-editing to be useable. Thats understandable since not many people have their computers set up in a spot suitable for high quality vocal recordings. For various reasons, we were not able to contract out any professional Australian voice talent for CMAK (insert suitable joke here). However, its also not proper to say people that offer to help with their voices are not compensated. They get a credit in the manual and a free copy of the game. Some would say thats a more than fair trade. Also, more often than not, I don't keep record of who's specific voice I use and who's I do not. When for example, three guys from Australia send me samples, I simply dump them into my Australian sound folder and then work on them all together and pick and choose the ones I feel are suitable. Besides, they all sound the same to me anyway. It's very easy to look back on all of this now, with the benefit of 20/20 hindsight. However, with deadlines looming ever close and a near empty folder of Australian sounds, I did the best I could. Madmatt
  22. That problem, according to our order transaction system (Verisign) seems to be that for some reason your credit card company is not authorizing properly your address. You might want to call your credit company, tell them what your trying to buy and from who (a US company) and see if they can do something on their end to resolve this. We get lots of orders from the UK every day but yours is the first time I have seen that particular error. Madmatt
  23. The issue that bazzerfee is seeing with CMBO is unrelated to the CDV CMAK issue. We have determined that the CMAK issue is isolated to just the CDV versions (possibly related to the Safedisc protection that they use) and will be working with the CDV support team to get this resolved as soon as possible. Madmatt
  24. I am not sure what DAW means but it you want to know what software I use its mostly (about 99%) CoolEdit Pro and sometimes I use SoundForge. Madmatt
  25. I spent over a year trying to get a good batch of Australian sound samples and whats in the game was the best of what we could obtain, but at least they are all from real Aussies. The list of issues which cropped up included everything to one of my voice actors having a family crisis and loosing his house to Brian Rock having a personal crisis and getting married. The samples that Mace sent me were, oh whats that word again...?oh yeah, CRAP, yeah thats it. I honestly thought that a 12 month cycle would be long enough to aquire and edit the sound samples for all the nations we needed. For everyone BUT the Australians, it was... Even so, I did the best with what I had. While I can make audible magic with sound effects, editing the human voice (assuming you consider Aussies humans) is VERY difficult to do. If you think the sounds are clipping, it is easy to manually edit them, although I already noise gated and hardlimited them so they aren't supposed to be distorting, at least not beyond how they sounded originally.
