1. Hammer, Well, please let me know how it goes when you get home. If I understand your problem now (I'm pretty dense sometimes) you can't get the installation to work. That's the first I've heard of an installation problem. Boris, When I didn't hear from you after my last response I assumed it was working for you. Can you send me a copy of CMMOSLog.txt from when you've tried to apply an option? Thanks, Gordon "gordonemolek@earthlink.net" [ January 31, 2002, 07:08 PM: Message edited by: Gordon ]
2. (bump) Sorry. I'm so clumsy sometimes. Gordon
3. Bob, Thanks for the kind words. The overriding design goals of CMMOS were that it be open ended and extensible, as well as "understandable" so that it could survive my being hit by a bus or withdrawing from the Combat Mission community for whatever reason. I'm glad to hear that you feel it's met it's objectives. Gordon
4. The commonwealth tank with an American turret is a texture-sharing issue (it's the same turret for all 75mm Shermans). The German halftrack issue is one I haven't seen, so please e-mail me a screen shot and a copy of CMMOSLog.txt from when you've seen (or recreated) the problem and we'll get you straightened out. Gordon
5. Due to an issue with some of the mods that were included, that RuleSet and mod had to be withdrawn. A new version is in the works and should be available soon. Gordon
6. There is a file called "readme.rtf" in the folder where you installed CMMOS. If that's still not enough information, please e-mail me with your questions at "gordonemolek@earthlink.net". Good luck, Gordon
7. The German Uniforms RuleSet and mod compilation is currently being reworked (remember that little scandal we had awhile back?) Anyway, hope to have it re-issued soon. In general, the terrain mods are slower in coming due to their sheer magnitude. But don't worry, they're on the way. Also, there will be a CMMOS for CMBB, one way or the other. Gordon
8. Please send a copy of "CMMOSLog.txt" to "gordonemolek@earthlink.net" and I'll take a look. Thanks, Gordon
9. litchy, Everything you you ask about (scenery, skies, uniforms) except the sounds can be provided independently of a new version of CMMOS (e.g. the Rules and RuleSets just need to be written and the BMPs packaged up). "Field & Stream", which is a comprehensive (to say the least) package of subdued terrain mods and uniforms (both German and Allied) are in progress. I am currently not aware of anyone doing sky Rule/RuleSets for CMMOS, however. Sound support is a different matter, and I'm currently considering how I might support sound. The "preview pics" are only Icons and their sizes cannot be changed. If you'd like preview pics, I suggest that you use "CM Mod Manager" to install the mods and CMMOS to apply their options. Gordon
10. Yes, what Marco said. Sometimes he even let's me out of my cage for "walkies". Gordon
11. Ok, time for another "Answer man" session. Colonel_Deadmarsh: The different coverage levels of different icons reflects the fact that you've got lot's of different people making mods, and I just can't get them to agree. massimorocca: Fernando's StuGs and Halftracks are available on CM:HQ. There's also a new (old) StuG and JgdPz IV on the way. leakyD: Maybe once the Mac side of the house get's covered a fatwah might be in order. MajorVictory: We'll try to be as comprehensive as we can on the uniforms front (and back). Hawkmek: Yes, CMMOS v3.01 and most every CMMOS compatible mod is available on CM:HQ. Sgt Colon: Go to CM:HQ, download CMMOS v3.01, install it and start downloading and playing with the mods. Gordon
12. Ok, time for some responses. Priest, nobody has it fully implemented yet! Louie the Toad, what seems to be your problem? Send me an e-mail at "gordonemolek@earthlink.net" and we'll get you straightened out. Peiper#1, I'm working on rolling up Clubfoot's and Pascal's "unofficial" RuleSets into the "German Vehicles" and "Winter German Vehicles" RuleSets, so there's hope. Herr Kruger, all version of CMMOS can be installed over previous ones. If there's any special cases that need to be handled, it will be in the documentation. Bannon, yes it does have something to do with mods. Check out CM:HQ. Philippe, well the documentation that comes with CMMOS (I know, who ever reads documentation? ) clearly says that if anyone has any questions or comments to please e-mail me at "gordonemolek@earthlink.net", and I'm always prowling the forum for any threads with CMMOS questions. PawBroon and I are discussing having some sort of "CMMOS Information Section" on his "M&M" site, but it's still very preliminary. Gordon
13. Ladies and Gentlemen, I have been asked to conduct a poll to find out just how many of you out there are actually using CMMOS. So, to start things off: I am. That's 1. (Please keep a running count as you sound off as my sense of math is "one", "two", "many"). Gordon
14. If you are running CMMOS v3.01, the CMMOS configuration files that come with the Churchill mod are obsolete and you should just put the BMP files (except for "churchill.bmp" in the CM:BO BMP folder and you are done. RuleSet501 has nothing to do with the Churchill mod, but is the "Markers" RuleSet files (TRP, Ambush, mine warning signs). You should unzip it into the CMMOS installation folder ("c:\Program Files\GEM Software Productions\CM Mod Option Selector" by default) with the "Use folder names" option checked so that it will create a new sub-folder named "RuleSet501" and put all the configuration files there. Gordon
15. Oh great. Another opportunity for PawBroon to make fun of one of my early mods. Thanks for nothing Andrew. Very nice job. Gordon
16.
quote:
Originally posted by Mattias: A related question. A lot of mods create sub directories when unzipping, putting optional texture etc. in them. Now, and this is the question, does CMMOS ever use any files stored in sub directories to the BMP directory? M.

Mattias, Nope. Gordon
17. Well, have you tried contacting the program's author? His e-mail address is in the documentation. It's "gordonemolek@earthlink.net". I'm sure that if you sent him a copy of the file "CMMOSLog.txt" from the folder where you installed CMMOS and a description of what behavior you are seeing he'd be more than happy to help you out. Gordon
18.
quote:
Originally posted by Tom: Three more lousy trees and it´s done ( which means: ready for beta testing ). Cheers Tom

Tom, If I might be so bold as to offer advice. I think everyone would prefer "good" trees to "lousy" trees. Gordon
19.
quote:
Originally posted by Måkjager: ps....no more mods till later in the year . regard Måkjager

Jeez, what a whimp. You don't stop doing other projects when this sort of thing crops up, you just have to dig deeper and grind it out in addition to all your other projects. Hmm. Wait a minute. I think I see a pattern here that might explain my lack of a real life and my lack of sleep. Time to re-evaluate. Guess I'll go to the Carribean for awhile. See y'all when I get back. Gordon
20. FYI, I just ordered a BA-6 kit. Hopefully it will arrive in time and I can spray a quick coat of Rustoleum "Moss Green" on it. No, wait, that would be more appropriate for a Finnish model. Maybe "Pine Green" would be better. Haven't built a model in 25 years. Gordon
21. Apache, The CMMOS list is comprehensive except for the "non-official" (but still excellent) RuleSets and mods. At this point, unless I'm forgetting something, pretty much all the old batch file mods should have been converted to CMMOS, but I haven't had the time to do a comprehensive audit yet. The description.txt file in the patch mods lists what old batch files were "patched", and if you've got newer, CMMOS versions of all of those, then the patch file is no longer needed. Gordon
22. Apache, They're quickly becoming obsolete as some of the earlier batch file mods are replaced with new CMMOS versions. Gordon
23. Lindan, Are you referring to CMMOS, separate CMMOS RuleSet packages or CMMOS mods? If CMMOS, it can be installed in a folder of your choosing. If separate CMMOS RuleSets, those are usually unzipped (with "use folders" or whatever your zip tool says) into the CMMOS installation folder you chose above). If CMMOS mods, either put them in your "mods" folder if you use CM Mod Manager and install them using it, or unzip all the BMPs in the archive directly into your CM:BO BMP folder. Hope this helps, if you have any other questions, please let me know (preferably at "gordonemolek@earthlink.net"). Gordon
24. Captain, Can I call you "Captain"? Have you considered making these part of the upcoming CMMOS German Uniform (Spring) collection? It's going to be all the rage of the Paris fashion shows this season. Gordon
