  1. Medals all around. A VC perhaps? YD, does anyone have a armoured light helicopter? Don't think a Blackhawk or MD500 would be sturdy enough, and a Hind I suspect would be a bit big. vetacon, thanks for posting, but would you mind fixing the link? It's fuxxoring the forum readability fr anyone not running a 2048x1536 monitor. Like this.
  2. How many boots on the ground is this new toy going to cost? The US army does well to get over its toy fixation.
  3. Woohoo! I hope I'm reading you right, but did you mean that we could elect to continue a battle after it was 'over'? That would be very nice indeed. Many a CM was so very clearly not done yet when the timer ran out.
  4. The buildings could use a bit more 'lived in' graphics, otherwise I must say it's all looking pretty yum. Skybox looks familiar.
  5. 3. You know what you are doing, and we know what we are doing and never shall the twain meet. All kidding aside, I understand the choice you are making. Indeed, I agree with your reasoning that it is the way forward for you guys. Doesn't make me desire a pimped CMBO any less and as such I am dissapointed. A little.
  6. I'm afraid there is no chance of that Cpl Steiner. BFC have repeatedly stated that they won't make theatre wide games any more. Not even with game+modules will we get CMBO, let alone BB or AK. Great pity, though I do understand. As long as they don't narrow it down too much I'm fine with it. I mean, just Normandy or Market Garden is fine with me, even if the total has to be pieced together with the modules. Pity that once again the Yanks get first billing in CMx2:WW2, but C'est la vie. Still no word on what CMx2:WW2 will be?
  7. So instead you bring us a fictional Syria v USA setting, a bad guys versus the worse guys. But that's just this Euro-weeny his view. Say, how popular are foreign wars in the US right now? There'd better be a damn good demo, Steve.
  8. btw Some info on B-1Bs, amongst others, providing CAS in Afghanistan. They are flying CAS way more then I expected. here
  9. Really? Say, about directing of airstrikes on target, what are the different methods used if any? There's a youtube of Dutch commandos marking the target with .50 fire for a pair of USA F-18s. would something similar be possible? If yes, in what way would that differ from say a laser designated target or a mere radioed in target?
  10. What my somewhat unhelpful fellow forumdweller meant to say is that we don't know because we haven't been told. That's because BFC release games when they are finished, not when the calender says they must. A highly admirable practice, IMHO. I think the latest ballpark date we were given was somewhere mid 2007-ish.
  11. Bah Humbug! But have a nice few days anyway, everyone!
  12. Tried the new demo and the initial impression is the same as in the original demo: Who in the name of all things that are holy thought up the default controls?! Of course everyone's preferred layout is different but there is, IMHO, very little to work with with the default layout, making the first half hour of Dropteam highly unpleasant. It is THAT awkward. And that's with me being fairly familiar with Dropteam . Imagine how a green newb would fare! Not the best first impression one wishes to leave behind. The weapons and ammo buttons and the zoom key and other essential keys all need to hug the WASD keys or thereabouts, not be all the way across the keyboard. It seem one isn't able to re-map keys mid mission, at least it wasn't obvious to me as to how to do this. Yet this is is the best time to fool around with what works and what doesn't. Anyway, this second outing was, after the first thirty minutes fiddling about, even better then the amazing game I played during the beta demo. Good job!
  13. Yay! More gadgets to haul around. Somehow I feel that using locals may be more beneficial, at least long term. Probably strengthens local ties with the community and puts some much needed extra coin into the local economy. And given the way the DoD is spending money on gadgets I have an inkling it might be cheaper too.
  14. The Panzerjäger IV was front heavy so I would guess they may have dropped the muzzle break to save weight. This one with a MB may have been an early production run?
  15. OMGWTF, where are the blastwaves!? Looks really great, thanks for sharing. I'm particularly pleased that getting artillery on a target seems well simulated without being unwieldy and a chore.
  16. Downloaded it Installed it Played it Deleted it Ewwww, I feel icky! It's ****, it's incredibly ****. What is **** about it? Damn near everything!
  17. I highly doubt you'll be running it with much difficulty. I'm playing several high end games on my E6600, none of which run on both cores, yet I'm getting good performance on high settings. Besides, while the game may run on one core, users are reporting that the seconds CPU is doing stuff too. So the game runs on one and your usual windows crap seems to be doing it's thing on the other. Haven't checked it myself since things like Medieval 2 Total War run fine anyway.
  18. Uhm ...yeah ...like ...uh ...yeah ... oops!
  19. Release delays? What release delay? I can't remember us being given a date. Battlefront products are a lot like wizards, they are never late, nor are they early, they arrive precisely when they mean to.
  20. Ah gawds, not another kiwi! Welcome and pull up a chair. There's always been a lot of interest in these raids but to be honest, if someone pulled off a good LRDG/SAS scenario, then I'm not aware of it. The CM engine just doesn't seem to handle it very well. There are a few problems with simulating such raids, as CM doesn't simulate surprise nor does the speed of the attacker give much protection to him. So the moment the LRDG or SAS encounters an enemy, they'd be in trouble. As for the vehicles you'd need to simulate the raiders, the White scout car and the MG jeep are the prime choices there. The White truck is over armoured for the job, really. But it's a nice compensation for the game engine not giving enough advantage for roaring around in the dark at high speed with all guns blazing. For parked planes, use something fragile and expensive. One of those Italian SPAA trucks, elite and without ammo, would give good points.
  21. I thought you kept your cash at the liquor store!
