  1. Did you save the article in the native format and n ot as a .txt? Save it as a .txt file and try it. Rune
  2. Well, I do NOT know where you got those figures, but let's see what the people who used the 122mm have to say about the 122mm. All quotes are from the Russian Military Zone. Further, after the first encounters of the IS-2 with German heavy tanks, it turned out that its pointed 122 mm AP round - the BR-471 - could only penetrate the frontal armour of a Panther within 600-700 metres. The less powerful frontal armour of a Tiger (the vertical armour of a Tiger, although thicker than that of a Panther, was more easily defeated by the pointed projectile of the Soviet gun, while it mostly ricocheted off the sloped armour of a Panther) could be penetrated from distances up to 1200 metres. However, at such distances only very well trained, experienced gunners could score a hit. The powerful HE round, OF-471, when fired at German tanks, caused cracking and even complete tearing off of the front armour plates at the welded seams. The first results of the use of the IS-2 in fighting conditions (backed by the results of its tests at the Kubinka testing grounds in January of 1944) forced designers to look for new solutions to its problems. It was only after the Panther's armor went down in quality in 1944 that the HE round could cause holes or cracks in the armor. The Russian Military zone also had this to say about firing rate: After this, it produced only the IS-122 with the new 122 mm gun D-25T with a wedge-shaped semi-automatic breech, which allowed an increased rate of fire from 1-1.5 shots per minute to 1.5-2 shots per minute Rune <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Amedeo: Fow what concernes the relative performances of the 100mm, 122mm, and 152mm Soviet guns, well actually the 100mm had superior armour piercing performances _against vertical armour_ but the blunt nose 122mm APBC round fared better against sloped armour being able to rip trough the Panther frontal glacis at 2000m, while the 100mm could have performed better against the Tiger. Anyway to have guns able to frontally destroy Panthers and Tigers at medium/long ranges is a dream in CMBO terms. The problem is to hit them! Regards, Amedeo<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
  3. Ladies, gentlemen, and vermin of all ages. I am pleased to announce that Boots and Tracks will soon be posting Rune Pak #9. Here is the text of it. This is Rune Pak 9, the last Rune Pak for CMBO for the time being, as I have research and work to do for some new scenarios to come. Included in this Rune Pak are: Gully High: A map made for those who just want to add their own units. As with the last Rune Pak, I got requests for plain maps, and here you are. Casey Jones' Ghost: The taking of a bombed, yet operation rail yard, in the North of France. This is a large scenario and a lot of fun. The Royal Regiment: Near Wesel, Germany, the British advance over the Rhine River. The British units and map are as close as I could get, the German units are best guess, so marked as semi-fictional. Green Grass: The ill fated 26th Infantry Division attacks in Germany. A medium sized battle! Reichswald Redoubt: Another semi-historical battle. The Canadians attack in the Reichswald! Again, map and Canadian units are historical, germans are best guess. Enjoy!!! Rune
  4. anjin, Marketing department? Do you realize that BTS is a whopping 4 people? The way word got spread around was by users and by the game magazines. There is NO marketing department. I rather personally have Charles reply to an email for an article and go back to coding then to mention something here, then have to spend hours explaining and defending their ideas. Also, nothing is being mentioned, since it isn't finished coding, or tested yet. Why mention a feature that may not make the final cut? Imagine the uproar then. All that being said...Madmatt who is one of the four, already has mentioned that when the time comes, he will post on his site screenshots and information. Just be patient, and information will come out. Now back to researching the Eastern Front for me. Rune
  5. To answer the question: Under Windows XP Beta II Personal, I got CM to run. However, I had the same video driver problems that the Windows 2000 users had with the nvidia card and also had some problems with sound. The problem with the sound was it was scratchy and might be fixed by turning the acceleration down. I can't say mjore then that. NDA Rune
  6. Yep, Manx is correct. Also try the Chance Encounter 2, and play the first time through as the Americans. I also modified the Last Defense beta scenario and called it Last Defense revisited. All the rest are oringinal scenarios. Hope you enjoy... Rune
  7. Def, Well hurry up man. When CM2 comes out I will really be able to create evil scenarios. hehehehe Rune
  8. Evilness returns... Rune Pak 8 has been sent to Manx, for your enjoyment. Included are: Custer's Last Stand II. The great-grandson of the famous general droped on dday and is caught in the middle of a Panzer Division. [Fictional] Caen Mutiny: The British launch an offensive without the approval of the higher command. Fictional Wide Front: The Germans attempt to push the British away from Caen. Big battle. Crossroads in the Fog: Semi-historical, the Canadians attempt to push through the Reichswald Forest near Kleve. St. Gertrude: NOTE THIS IS A MAP ONLY! A lot of users have asked for a map to add their own units. This is for you. Enjoy their evilness... Rune
  9. BTS announced that for CM2 they will be considering doing a rarity purchase. BTS has discussed this in the past. However, with the search running slow, I can understand your frustration with the search. Rune <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by CombinedArms: A while ago somebody mentioned that Squad Leader (which I never played) had a dice roll for rarity factor in force selection. What about carrying that idea into CM2, and providing an optional random rarity factor component for force selection in QBs? If you got the most favorable rarity factor number you could buy King Tigers or Pershings--otherwise not. Other units would be graded in depending on comparative rarity. Each player could have a separate rarity roll; one result might be different from the either. Presumably the opponent wouldn't know what your rarity number was--though that might also be optional The rarity factor could be set to control either availability of unit types (e.g. KTs) or quantity/combination of units (e.g. no more "30 HTs but no tanks" because that's a 0 rarity factor). If you set a rarity factor on that, you could, at your option, rule out a lot of weird random unit selections. I think the rarity factor should be optional because sometimes players might deliberately WANT to have a battle of rare ubertanks. I'm trying to canvass interest in this. If it looks like there's a consensus in favor, we could go to BTS with it. I apologize if this has been raised before--search isn't working for me lately.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
  10. I had nothing but problems with that build of the drivers. You can turn off the AA and use it, or go back to the latest release that nvidia has that is NOT beta. 7.62 I think I went back to. www.reactorcritical.com has the drivers. Rune
  11. It has been answered, and the answer was no, not until the engine re-write. It would take a lot of code change, time better spent going to finish CMBB and then to the CMII engine or next CM. Forgot if it was Matt or Steve who answered that. Rune <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Gryphon: Hiya I don't know if this was asked before (search option didn't work at this time ) but i was wondering if there is any chance a sort of co-operative mode will be included in CM2? It shouldn't be all too hard to implent, although unit identification could be a pain, then again, we could toggle colored bases on/off, 2 players could simultaneously issue orders just like the way TCP/IP works now, then the computer would calculate it's own moves and heck would break loose Regards, Gryphon<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
  12. Dear Bottom Feeders, While it does my black heart well to take blame of your losses. Oh what the hell, my scenarios are not for the weak of heart. This being said, I have 3 ready, but have a question here for the unwashed masses. On this Rune Pak, would you care for just some maps without units? Or was that eunics? I have some evil maps in mind, then you can just buy your own units. Or would you prefer 5 scenarios with units? Send a reply then go back to being the bottom feeders of the Cesspool. Rune Commander Army of the Porcupines
  13. ypu'll aren't too late, but it will have to wait until I get home from work, and I am refereeing a soccer game this evening. So look for the files late evening by the time i finally get home and cleaned up. Rune
  14. While to be compared to Wild Bill is a great honor, the scenario was mine, and is historical. Took me a month to do the research and get the map together with some outside help. Rune
  15. Mike, You forgot point 2, and you forget nothing is written in stone until it is tested, and tested again. So to say it will have feature XYZ, then during testing it doesn't work out, what happens? It is the main reason you won't see anything posted for a while. Hang in there Sir, Steve and Charles will post eventually on it. Rune
  16. Which is why they won't post what has been discussed. 1. There are competitors reading this board. 2. If they say they are discussing it, and it doesn't make the cut, then people will say "You promised that feature" 3. People argueing over things when the game isn't even coded yet. IE "Its the same engine, so they better have all the tanks". 4. IT IS STILL BEING CODED. Rune <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Mikester: Thanks TSS, Yes I'm refering to "THE LIST" of game improvements, which, as you stated, isn't actually published. I'm just curious to hear from BTS which of the various items that have been discussed here since around the time of the release of CM1 as being on said "LIST" might make it into CM2. Mike D aka Mikester<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
  17. was commented on earlier by them. No for CM2, the amount of time to recode is prohibitive. I think they said MAYBE for the engine re-write. Rune
  18. I created a scenario called Wittman's Last Hour based on maps and interviews sent to me by Mace. [Was from a book, Mace can chime in here]. I included the real number of tanks and even a fighter bomber for those that say it is what nailed the tank. It was included in Rune Pak 3 available at Manx's site. The map is the actual terrain.... his luck had just ran out that day. Rune
  19. Deuce, Cannot see your email addy, so drop me an email and i will reply with the files. Rune
  20. Files sent to everyone. As I said, play the Chance Encounter 2 as the Americans the first time through it. Only other scenario I changed that was not original was Last Defense Revisited. It was a beta scenario when I added space to the map and added more units Rune
  21. Will send ya the three files when I get home. There are 6 other Rune Paks of scenarios also available on Manx's site. I can also e-mail if anyone needs them. When you play Chance Encounter 2 for the first time, play it as Americans. Rune When you think evil; Think Rune © 2000 Foobar
  22. I sent out: Chance Encounter 2 Valley of Thunder 2 Rune Pak 7 to all those that posted here. The first two were just remakes, the Pak has 5 new scenarios of evilness. Enjoy... Rune
  23. I will send it to all that posted here, as well as my Chance Encounter 2 scenario. Will do so when I get home from work. Rune
  24. JD, Your squire needs to go to remedial reading. Wait, I assume he can read at all. I clearly offered it to Peng and want-to-be evil Berli. However, evilness should be spread. I will send it to your squire when I get home. There is just something about a squire bent over [sit down bauhaus] and wretching that appeals to me. Who will play the squire in this evilness? Rune <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by jd: My boy, there are only so many words a knight can offer his squire that can truly make a difference, as for a ruinette setup, well... There be dragons there, lad, abandon the dark side before it is to late. They will only break your heart and spirit and spleen to play one of them......<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
  25. If you two prefer, I have a brand new scenario that was made with input from Warphead and McAuliffe, so blame them. Being tested at the moment, i can send after testing or as is now. It involves pointy sticks, Fog, hills, forest, more pointy sticks, and Germans and Canadian in the Reichswald Forest. Let me know if you are interested. In the meantime, you all still suck. I loathe even having to post here. Rune <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Berlichtingen:
