  1. When Steve was wondering how to introduce this I wanted to just pretend it had been there all along and to ban anyone who said otherwise. Don't know why they didn't listen to me.
  2. It would be interesting to see the reaction if this had it been Obama at the podium. I doubt it would have been greeted as such a joke.
  3. Actually we have decided not to give the full list with the patch. It seems like it would be more fun to see if you guys can guess what has changed.
  4. 1.12? I though 1.02 was the latest. I haven't upgraded yet because I am playing the campaign hotseat against myself and don't want to have to start over.
  5. If you are looking for a crappy NATO M1 mod, mine is at CMMODS.
  6. Some troops were found to have non-issue Camelbaks, these have been corrected. All troops have been issued new uniforms because their old ones were becoming quite threadbare. They should look nicer as a result, except for Private Snowden who refuses to iron his pockets. Load plans on all vehicles have been checked and corrected by the 1SG and XO. The postal service was able to set up more regular delivery so the troops should be happier. That thing on the AAV, you know, the one under the other thing, that was making that noise; well it doesn't do that anymore. The motorpool is now using a more Earth Friendly drysweep so it has less of an impact on the local environment. Battalion finally got around to processing those awards so the troops can wear them the next time they are in their dress uniforms. Private Goodman has been doing some extra running so he should be a lot slimmer now. The Family Support Group has moved its meeting to Thursday night at 7 pm. Aircraft are now painted with the proper squadron markings. All MREs now have the long brown spoon which corrects the occasional finding of the older short white spoon that got your hands dirty if you opened the wrong end of the main meal packet. Unfortunately a case of Chicken-Ala-King slipped in with the newer MREs. Sorry about that. Finally, the new rate for the GI Bill was implimented.
  7. I don't think anyone has made a combined mod. The modders will probably have more time after the new year. Gordon has some excellent Russian vehicle mods. I think they are on the repository.
  8. I think it would be an excellent idea for the Army to adopt a vehicle version of the Javelin. When I was in that was what they told us they were going to do. I think they should strap the thing on every vehicle in the inventory. It shouldn't be too hard to make a vehicle version that has longer range. Even in the best of circumstances the AT3 is a piece of crap. Units using it were lucky to get 30% hits with it.
  9. It simulates the fact that not every unit knows exactly where everyone else is, even if in radio contact. It is a way to impose a bit of command delay and uncertainty on the player.
  10. Well, you can look at it this way. If you are one of those who don't like less than macho names for objectives, you can interpret it to mean that you are going to be in deep ****e. Or you can think of the Taoist philosopher that it is named after.
  11. If you look you will notice all kinds of familiar names.
  12. The backstory for the names is that the Operations officer's wife had a baby just before the unit deployed for the war. The names are his daughter's toys and TV shows. In OIF some of the fiercest fighting was for Objective Peach.
  13. Believe it or not that is exactly what is happening. Honest.
  14. I am making a 4km x 4km scenario based on the Battle of 73 Easting. It takes a while to load but it runs fine.
  15. Another incident from before they started paying attention to such things: Some movie in the 50's or 60's decided to have their natives speak some African dialect. The writer, who actually spoke the language, figured that no one in the audience would know what was being said so he wrote whatever he felt like. The big dramitic moment turned into high comedy when the film was released in Africa. A native extra warned the hero of an impending attack by running up and yelling, "I'm not being paid enough for this part!" When Coke was beginning to market in China they wanted to see if they could find some Chinese characters that looked like their trademark lable. Unfortunately the closest they could find were some characters that loosely translated to say, "Bite the wax tadpole."
  16. There is a random factor built in to account for missile failure, broken wires, stuff like that. You could have just been REALLY unlucky. I have seen some strange things during testing but nothing that appears systematic.
  17. GSX, Is there any way you could send me a save of this problem? If so we can take a look at it.
  18. Many feminists also see marriage as a form of slavery so should we outlaw that as well? Basing policy on the opinion of the various -ists is pretty stupid. Why is it legal for two men to beat the living crap out of each other but not to pay 50 euro for sex instead of spending 100 euro on dinner and hoping for it?
  19. Need a gift for her? Military.com has you covered. What woman could resist a string of fashionable Ranger Pace Count Beads? http://www.military.com/shop/holiday2008/for-her.html
  20. M107 addition: It is possible to kill a light armored vehicle with the M107. I have killed BRDMs and BTRs from between 200 and 400 meters. It is also very effective engaging troops in buildings at nearly any range.
